The UK Korean Friendship Association issued the following statement on the 71st anniversary of the birth of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il.
Our association salutes the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il on the anniversary of his birth, February 16th . The great leader
comrade Kim Jong Il was not only the great leader of the Korean
people, who served them over many
decades, but also a great fighter for independence . He was the
architect of the era of
independence . Comrade Kim Jong Il made great contributions to the
cause of independence of the
world's people in both practice and theory.
In practice he built up
the DPRK as a sublime model of independence. The US imperialists fear and hate the DPRK so
much because of the example it shows to the people of the world. Over the last 20 or so years
the US imperialists have become more pronounced in their efforts to dominate the world , to
create a Unipolar world , a so-called “New World Order “. Many countries have fallen
victim to the US , others including some big countries have given in
to it. However the one country that hasn't is the Democratic People's
Republic of Korea. The DPRK has always been known for its sturdy
independence , this is based on the Juche idea created by the great
leader comrade Kim Il Sung which was further developed by the great
leader comrade Kim Jong Il. The Juche idea stipulates independence,
self-sufficiency and self-defence as the principles to be adhered to
in building a country.
In the 1990s when the US imperialists arrogantly announced
their “New World Order”
project they turned their attention to the DPRK putting forward all
sorts of measures and
stratagems to isolate , stifle and crush it most notably the
so-called “nuclear issue” . The great
leader comrade Kim Jong Il who had been elected as Supreme Commander of the Korean People's
Army and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK resolutely met their
challenges head on. On March 9th 1993 he ordered the Korean People's
Army on to a state of semi-war and then on March 12th the DPRK
announced its intention to withdraw from the one-sided and
reactionary “Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty”. These were blows
that shook the US and other imperialists rigid. No other country had
withdrawn from the NPT !This showed the iron-will of
the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il in defending the independence of the DPRK.
When the great leader
comrade Kim Il Sung passed away and the DPRK was hit by natural disasters the
imperialists foolishly hoped that the DPRK would “open up” and
“reform” and become subservient to
imperialism . However the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il declared “Expect
No Change from me”.
A US imperialist army helicopter that strayed into the territory of the DPRK was shot down on December 17th 1994. This
demonstrated that the DPRK under the leadership of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il
would not tolerate any infringement of its sovereignty.
Today the DPRK is probably the only country in
the world that is not a member of the IMF, World Bank and WTO. It
is a country that says and does what it likes . Defying the US imperialists and big powers ,under the leadership of dear respected
Marshal Kim Jong Un ,it recently launched the Kwangmysong 3-2 on
December 12th 2012 and has conducted a nuclear test . Thus the DPRK is the most independent country in the world , a legacy bequeathed by the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il.
Comrade Kim Jong Il was a great people's leader who put his heart and soul into building up the DPRK as people's land of bliss . Thanks to his leadership the Korean people enjoy great benefits such as free education, free healthcare and virtually free housing.
The achievements of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il are carried forward by the dear respected leader Marshal Kim Jong Un.
