In 1964 per capita production of the following products in the DPRK was much greater than south Korea

-coal 3.5 times

-cement 5 times

-fertiliser 36 times

-steel 20 times

- electricity 11 times

In 1970 some Western economic experts estimated the DPRKs gnp or gdp as being 3 times that of

south Korea.

Today the DPRK outproduces south Korea in coal production and is ahead of the UK in that field
