Military Provocation Running Counter to Dialogue and Peace All the Koreans in the north and south and overseas are vigorously conducting the struggle to open up a new phase for independent reunification through realizing the national unity under the uplifted banner of the inter-Korean declarations in this significant year which marks the 10th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration and the 30th anniversary of the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo. However, the south Korean war maniacs are running amuck in the military provocative moves from the outset of the New Year aggravating the tension and inter-Korean confrontation. On January 1 the 1st field army of the south Korean puppet army stationed in the forefront area staged in a blitz way exercises to cope with “infiltration and limited provocation” under the pretext of the alleged “possible infiltration of north Korea”. The drills were staged according to an abrupt order with the whole force under the 1st field army attending in a force-against-force basis and the commander of the field army bragged that the drills showed the “perfect preparing posture” stirring up the confrontation and war atmosphere. And the 26th mechanized infantry division of the puppet army staged field mobile exercises in the areas of Yangju and Dongducheon of Gyonggi Province from January 11 to 15. Meantime, the south Korean authorities decided to newly set up a “cyber command”. The war drills staged by the south Korean war maniacs against north Korea are a contemplated provocation to hinder the improvement of the inter-Korean relations and an anti-nation crime aimed at instilling distrust and confrontation consciousness in the people's mind and checking the pro-north Korean reunification mood of the people. All the facts indicate that the south Korean authorities intend to continuously go on for south-north confrontation and war against the north this year. The south Korean authorities should drop at once the confrontation policy and war drills against the north plainly aware of the people's desire to improve the inter-Korean relations by the concerted efforts of the nation and achieve the independent reunification, peace and prosperity through the reconciliation and cooperation.
