Pyongyang, January 1 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a by-lined article to the 51st anniversary of the victory of the Cuban revolution. With the victory in the revolution the Cuban people put an end to the imperialists' long-standing domination and the reactionary dictatorial system and emerged genuine masters of the country, embarking on the road of building a new society while grasping their destinies in their own hands, the article says, and goes on: Since then, the Cuban people have been faithful to the idea of socialism and victoriously advanced along the road of justice chosen by themselves. The Cuban people have reliably defended socialism and the national dignity under the nose of the U.S. imperialists, the ringleader of the world reactionaries, because they have cherished the revolutionary faith in the validity of their cause and the indomitable fighting spirit. The Cuban people feel pride at the fact that they have resolutely defended the sovereignty of the country and the socialist system, the revolutionary gains won at the cost of blood, and are successfully advancing the revolution and construction, overcoming hardships with the confidence in victory and optimism. The Korean people highly esteem the Cuban people advancing under the uplifted banner of anti-imperialist independence and socialism and extend firm solidarity to their just cause. The DPRK and Cuba are far away from each other geographically but the two peoples stand firm in the same trench of struggle to defend and advance socialism. The DPRK-Cuba friendship provided by President Kim Il Sung and respected Fidel Castro is daily growing stronger under the deep care of the leaders of the two countries. It is pride of the Korean people to have as their comrade-in-arms and close friend the Cuban people strong in the spirit of independence against imperialism, the fighting capacity and the sense of obligation, the article says, wishing the Cuban people good successes in their future work. |
