The annual General Meeting of the Korean Friendship Association of the UK (KFA UK ) was held on the 24th of January at 1900 via Skype.
It was participated in by KFA UK members from London , West of England ,Liverpool , Staffordshire , Scotland and other regions of the UK . Attending as observers were members of KFA Germany including the chairman of KFA Germany.
The meeting started with the hymn of the Korean Friendship Association ‘ The Song of National Defence ‘ . A short message from the President of the Korean Friendship Association comrade Alejandro Cao De Benos was read out and the chairman of KFA Germany also made a short address to the meeting .
Dr Dermot Hudson , Chairman of KFA UK introduced the meeting stressing the importance of the meeting as it will chart the way ahead for KFA UK in the coming year.
In his report Dr Hudson said that “During the past year which saw the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Korean People’s Army as the regular revolutionary armed force of the DPRK , the 70th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War and the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in September . KFA UK played its part in these celebrations . Firstly , KFA UK contributed a seminar paper to the KFA International Online seminar on the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the Korean People’s Army , secondly , we sent a seminar paper to the KFA International Seminar in July for the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Korean people in the great Fatherland Liberation War against the US imperialist aggressors and in September KFA UK hosted the European Regional Seminar for Friendship, Solidarity and Exchange for the 75th anniversary of the foundation of the DPRK which involved both a hybrid event in the Marchmont Centre , London and an online meeting over two weekends”
Dr Hudson said that in the coming year KFA UK must be more energetic and proactive and called for the stepping up of activities against south Korea and the US as well marking important anniversaries of the DPRK .
In his report comrade Alan Bolon KFA UK Organisation Secretary said that “Last year, we successfully conducted many protests and seminars, both online and in person. New forms of activity have developed, which, in my opinion, has had a positive impact on the development of KFA UK and the increase in the profile of the organization in its professional style of work and activity.”
Dr Hudson was re-elected as KFA UK Chairman and comrade Alan Bolon was re-elected Organisation Secretary for another .
Reports from Regional branches in the West of England , Scotland and Staffordshire were heard and also the financial report of KFA UK .
An award of “'Outstanding Merit' was awarded to the Chairman of KFA Scotland .
A proposal to organise a European wide Regional Forum in late June or early July was approved .
Discussions were held on the way forward for KFA UK and many new suggestions were made .It was also proposed to discuss at a later date ideas of how to engage with other organisations whilst preserving the independence , autonomy and integrity of KFA UK .
