Pyongyang, June 18 (KCNA) -- An enlarged meeting of the organizing committee of the International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt Paektu took place on June 8 through video conferencing.
It was attended by co-chairman, vice-chairperson, secretary general and members of the organizing committee, personages of progressive political parties of different countries and members of organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people and international democratic organizations.
The meeting reviewed the five-year work of the festival organizing committee, held a by-election of the committee and unveiled and discussed the regional work plan for significantly celebrating the 70th anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War and the 75th founding anniversary of the DPRK.
Jesus Antonio Carlos Hernandez, general secretary of the C.C., People's Socialist Party of Mexico who is co-chairman of the festival organizing committee, made a keynote report.
He said that the organizing committee has steadily expanded and strengthened its ranks in close contact with the organizations for friendship and solidarity with the Korean people in different countries in accordance with its mission and duty over the past five years since its formation, while faithfully implementing the rules of activities for organizing colorful events on major occasions.
In particular, he reviewed the work of the committee that actively promoted and coordinated the work for significantly celebrating the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung and the 80th birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il as holidays common to mankind on a world-wide scale and fulfilled its role as an international organization in making the whole year of 2022 seethe with enthusiasm for praising the great men.
At the meeting, the chairman of the International League of People's Struggle and Atul Kumar Anjan, secretary of the National Council of the Communist Party of India, were newly elected co-chairman and vice-chairperson of the organizing committee respectively.
A press statement of the organizing committee was issued.
The press statement said that the Korean people and the world progressives will soon greet the 70th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War which marked the beginning of the new anti-imperialist national liberation struggle in the last century and the 75th anniversary of the DPRK's birth as the first people's democratic state in the East, and went on:
1. The organizing committee of the International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt Paektu would set an international celebration period for celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War and the 75th founding anniversary of the DPRK as holidays common to mankind and rev up the festive atmosphere on a world-wide scale.
2. The organizing committee of the International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt Paektu would organize the international events in a grand and peculiar way on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War and the 75th founding anniversary of the DPRK.
3. The organizing committee of the International Festival in Praise of the Great Persons of Mt Paektu would conduct the activities for supporting the just cause of the Korean people ceaselessly on a world-wide scale. -0-
