2022.6.1.
Recently, the U.S.-ASEAN special summit was held in the U.S.
As had been expected, the U.S. has again loudly aired the “free and open Indo-Pacific”, “maintenance of rules and norms” and the importance of creating peaceful environment.
According to the assertion made by the U.S., the freedom in the Indo-Pacific region is being restricted, “rules” and “norms” are being violated, and peace and stability are being undermined.
Then, who is the real mastermind who hampers the joint development and causes the instability of situation in the Asia-Pacific region?
Chines media are giving an answer to this question.
“Global Times” laid bare the ulterior intention of the Biden administration to keep on implementing the Indo-Pacific strategy and drive the ASEAN countries into the competition with China, and warned that the U.S. bid to create “NATO” of Indo-Pacific version as well as camp confrontation would not be achieved in Asia.
The Overseas Network also carried a commentary which points out that the countries in the region are not the geopolitical chessmen of the U.S., and that the U.S. would fail in winning over the ASEAN countries by honeyed words.
Recently, Chinese media criticized the U.S. for sparing no efforts to foment discord and hinder cooperation between the ASEAN countries and China. They are also stressing that the Biden administration would better do more work necessary for cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Also on the increase is the skepticism of the international society over the “rules” and “norms” which are unilaterally advocated by the U.S. for the realization of its own goals.
Some time ago, the Russian foreign minister has also ridiculed the U.S. and the West’s advocacy for “rule-based world order”, saying that nobody has either seen or drawn up this kind of “rules”.
In order to maintain its hegemonic position, the U.S. attempts to undermine the international and regional cooperation in pursuit of the camp confrontation in every part of world but its attempt would not evade the rejection of the international society.
