Shut down firing range!   On January 28, residents living near Susong firing range in Pohang city of North Gyeongsang Province launched a joint action by closing down the road to the shooting range in denunciation of the Ministry of Defense’s step to resume the firing exercise.     The statement demanded total suspension of firing exercise of Apache helicopters scheduled to start in the early February, shutdown of Susong firing range and punishment of Minister of Defense and those responsible for resumption of shooting exercise of Apache helicopters.   They blocked off the entry to the firing range with tractors and agricultural appliances to launch a long-term strike. They have accepted physical and mental damages such as earsplitting noise of helicopters, dropping of bombs and sooty smoke for over 50 years without complaining. They renewed their firm determination to close down the shooting range.
