The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK (ASSPUK) , the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE), the UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA ) ,and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula (BSCPRKP) issued the following joint statement in support of the press statement issued by the spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry (FM) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)on the 6th of August:
As is widely known the US and south Korea started military exercises targeting the DPRK , yesterday. This was despite the warnings given by the DPRK and is also a violation of the June 12 DPRK-U.S. Joint Statement, Panmunjom Declaration and September Pyongyang Joint Declaration which were all aimed at securing a lasting peace on the Korean peninsula . The US and south Korean authorities knew that such military exercises would anger the DPRK but they went ahead with them anyway.
Re-branding the exercises does not change their aggressive nature, it is putting old wine in new bottles basically.
As the statement of the spokesperson for the DPRK FM points out 'Even after the Singapore DPRK-U.S. summit, the U.S. and south Korean authorities continuously staged all kinds of aggressive war exercises targeting us, such as Marine Corps Joint Exercise, "Alliance 19-1", Joint Aerial Drill, "Proliferation Security Initiative", and the U.S. did not hesitate to conduct the missile interception test simulating an interception of our ICBMs and the test-fire of ICBM "Minuteman-3" and SLBM "Trident 2 D-5' .Worse still the US still refuses to rule out the first use of nuclear weapons against the DPRK and has shipped advanced fighter planes, the F35-A , to south Korea.. All the above prove that the US still retains and carries out the anti-DPRK hostile policy and faces the DPRK as an enemy not a friend. It shows the peace ballad sung by the US imperialists is a false and deceptive one aimed at getting the DPRK to disarm first and to overthrow the socialist system by stealth.
Such being the case , the DPRK has no other option but to to take countermeasures for eliminating the potential and direct threats to its state security. The US and south Korea will be fully responsible for the consequences,
The DPRK has taken the absolutely correct stand of solving matters through dialogue and reaffirmed its commitment to that but at the same time warned that dialogue cannot happen whilst the military exercises by south Korea and the US are in progress.
We support the just stand of the DPRK.
