Pyongyang, January 16 (KCNA) -- Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un
in his New Year Address advanced the slogan "Let us open a new road of
advance for socialist construction under the uplifted banner of
self-reliance!" to be upheld by the Korean people this year.
The history of the Korean revolution is a history of victory and glory in which it has braved unprecedented trials and difficulties by dint of self-reliance.
Self-reliance, created in the period of the anti-Japanese armed struggle, has always served as a banner of struggle and driving force for rapid progress in the whole course of the revolution and construction.
That's why the Korean people could vigorously advance along the road of victory without moment's stagnation and standstill even in the face of unprecedentedly stern trials and hardships.
All the victories won in the two revolutionary wars, two-stage social revolution, two rounds of reconstruction and socialist construction of various stages would have been unthinkable without the revolutionary sprit of self-reliance and fortitude like the Yanji bomb spirit, the Kunja-ri revolutionary spirit, the Chollima spirit, the Kanggye spirit and the spirit of Kangwon Province.
In the historic days of epoch-making miracles and changes, self-reliance became a proud working spirit of the Korean people.
Thanks to the solid foundations of the self-supporting economy built in the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance, the DPRK is now dynamically advancing toward the final victory of building a powerful socialist nation without the slightest hesitation or vacillation despite the escalating sanctions of the hostile forces.
Though the times go and the environment and condition of revolution change, the Korean people's will to settle all the problems with their own efforts is growing stronger.
