We Are the Happiest in the World

The song “We Are the Happiest in the World” is ceaselessly reverberating in socialist Korea which is vibrant and making a leap forward with youthfulness.

The song which was composed in 1961 with the establishment of the socialist system in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (1958) sings in an exited tone the true appearance of the DPRK where the whole country forms a great harmonious family with their leader as the father and the happiness of the people who are leading a genuine life under the warm care of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Blue is the sky and gay is my heart

The stand of an accordion rings out far and wide

What a wonderful homeland we have

A land filled with harmony and hope

Our father is Marshal Kim Il Sung

Our home is the Party’s bosom

We are all blood brothers and sisters

We are the happiest in the world

It has been over 50 years since this song was composed but its vitality is still preserved as it depicts with deep emotion the truth of the life which the Korean people have found through their own experiences.

The philosophy of life based on kinship that the leader is their father and the Party’s bosom is their home is continuously handed down from the Chollima era when the socialist system, the people’s ideal was established on the ruins of war to today’s Mallima era in which we are advancing towards the final victory of socialism.

Whenever we sing the song, it feels as though we are seeing the happy faces of the children who are dancing and singing in the sunny schools, children’s palaces, children’s camps, baby homes and orphanages and also feels like we are listening to happy laughter from the windows of newly moved houses.

Although the generations have changed and the dreams and ideals of the Korean people have become much higher as time passes by, their criterion for the happiness has not changed.

“Our father is Marshal Kim Il Sung, our home is the Party’s bosom, we are all blood brothers and sisters, we are the happiest in the world”, this is the view of happiness of the Korean people and the only criterion for happiness.

Today all the dreams and ideals of the Korean people are coming into reality.

When the Korean people achieve the final victory of building a thriving socialist nation, the lifelong wishes of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il under the wise leadership of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un, they will proudly celebrate the socialist victory of Kim Il Sung’s nation, Kim Jong Il’s Korea with the song “We Are the Happiest in the World”
