Monument to the Victorious
Fatherland Liberation War
The Victorious Fatherland
Liberation War Museum and the Monument
to the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War are located on the bank
of the Pothong River in Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK.
The Monument
to the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War was erected to perpetuate
the heroic feats of the Korean army and people who accomplished
brilliant victory against the armed invasion of the US and its 15
satellite countries, south Korean puppet army and Japanese
militarists during the
3-year old Fatherland
Liberation War (June
25, 1950 – July 27, 1953).
At the front gate of the
monument there carves the autograph of President Kim
Il Sung which says
“Monument
to the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War”.
Passing through it, you can
see a soldier sculpture of the KPA against flags of the Party and
military on both sides of the education hall.
On the opposite side of the
autographical monument of President Kim
Il Sung there
stands a monument of a dedicated poem perpetuating
the feats of brave men of the People’s Army.
The main sculpture “Victory”
stands out against the main building of the Monument
to the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War.
The sculpture “Victory”
with the height of 7 meters of stone stairs and its height of 20
meters symbolizes V-Day (July 27), depicting a high-spirited soldier
of the People’s Army
calling an attack with the national flag of the Republic upholding.
On both sides of the main
theme sculpture “Victory” as its central axis there are 10
sub-thematic sculptural groups depicting the Korean service personnel
and civilians who displayed unparalleled bravery and a spirit of
self-sacrifice in the Fatherland
Liberation War.
The Monument
to the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War
was erected on July 27,
Juche 82(1993) on the occasion of the 40th
anniversary of the victory of the Fatherland Liberation War and
renovated to mark the 60th
anniversary of
victorious war.
There engraved
in gold letters the
autograph of respected Supreme Leader
Kim Jong Un
“Respect to Great
Years” on stone stairs of the
sculpture “Victory”.
Grove and green area was
formed and fountain section was made in the center of the monument
ground appropriate to the
sub-thematic sculptural groups.
The Monument
to the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War is a monumental creation
that will be remembered for ages to come together with the proud
tradition of Korea that always emerged victorious in the
anti-imperialist, anti-US struggle generation after generation.
