  The Association for the Study of Songun Politics(ASSPUK) , Juche Idea Study Group of England (JISGE), the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) and UK Preparatory Committee For the 2017 Gathering to Praise the Great Persons Born of Mt Paektu issued the following joint statement  in support of the White Paper of the  Korean Lawyers Committee (KLC)which was released on Thursday 16th of March;
 In the recent past the UN Security Council(UNSC) has enacted a series of resolutions imposing sanctions against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on the grounds that it has
carried nuclear and missile tests . As is well known to the progressive people of the world these sanctions resolutions are most unjust and also totally hypocritical and reek of the worst ever kind of
double standards. The Korean Lawyers Committee has issued a detailed critique of the legality of these sanctions in the form of a White paper which in fact that the sanctions are illegal and have no validity whatsoever in international law.
  The KLC rightly points out that "The rights to self-defense and self-determination cannot be violated by anyone as they are sacred rights officially recognized by international laws including the UN Charter." The DPRK's nuclear and missile tests are purely self-defensive and therefore legal according to the UN charter.Also the permanent members of the UNSC have carried nuclear and missile tests without being reprimanded or having to ask permission to carry out nuclear tests or to test-fire missiles . The DPRK does not need permission from anyone to test nuclear weapons or missiles.
  The UNSC has for a long time abuse its position and acted outside of its remit or beyond its power.
As the DPRK KLC points out "United States with a view to overthrowing those unfavorable countries mobilized the UN Security Council to manipulate the sanctions resolutions one after another on Iraq in 1990, Yugoslavia in 1991 and Libya, Cambodia, Somalia, Liberia, Rwanda in 1992." . The UNSC sanctions imposed on Iraq were responsible for the deaths of over half a million children and were branded as a war crime.
   The UNSC has a particularly dirty history in regard to the DPRK . The UNSC in the early 1950s
basically legalised US imperialism's aggression against the young DPRK , a criminal act .  In recent
years the US imperialists used the UNSC as a shock brigade in its anti-DPRK campaign  by passing
anti-DPRK sanctions resolutions. Now the US is even putting pressure on  third countries  to implement sanctions on the DPRK and break relations with the DPRK. This is basically threat and diktat which are not in keeping with the spirit of the UN charter .
  We support the call of the KLC for the convention of an international forum of experts to discuss the legality of the sanctions on the DPRK.
 We have always viewed the UNSC sanctions on the DPRK as unfair and unjust and call for them to
completely revoked.
