Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Korean Society for
Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Wednesday released a
statement denouncing the Japanese reactionaries for becoming all the
more pronounced in their fascist suppression of the General Association
of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), a dignified overseas citizens'
organization of the DPRK.
The statement termed the unwarranted arrest of Chongryon officials
and search into facilities related to Chongryon by the Japanese police
as a grave politically-motivated provocation to block the righteous
activities of Chongryon and stifle it.
This is aimed at obliterating Chongryon at any cost, justifying the
"story about north's threat" and thus stepping up the moves for
militarist reinvasion, the statement noted, and went on:
We cannot but take a serious note of the fact that the unreasonable
arrest of Chongryon officials and search into facilities related to
Chongryon are being committed in full dress after the retrogressive
revision of the "Japan-U.S. Defence Cooperation Guidelines" which calls
for denying Japan's past history of aggression and legalizing its
overseas aggression.
The reckless racket kicked off by Japan while pulling up Chongryon
is, in essence, an expression of Japan's uneasiness as it is taken aback
by the might of Songun Korea and its irritation at the thought that it
may fail to realize its ambition for reinvasion.
All facts go to clearly prove that the persistent suppression of
Chongryon is part of the Japanese reactionaries' planned and
conspiratorial moves to chill the atmosphere of improving the
north-south relations and realize their ambition, pursuant to the U.S.
hostile policy toward the DPRK.
The current case brought to light once again the fact that Japan is,
indeed, the world's worst criminal state and most brutal war criminal
state where democracy and humanitarianism are suffocated and national
chauvinism is rampant. -0-
