Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- Signal achievements have been
registered in the field of public health of the Democratic People's
Republic of Korea this year.
Typical of them is the establishment of the Breast Tumor Institute at the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital.
Also, telemedicine system was applied to hospitals throughout the country and cardiovascular surgery developed on a higher level. Technical renovations were carried out in many hospitals, making them equip with up-to-date medical instruments.
In particular, many cataract patients underwent successful operations to regain their sight.
All healthcare institutions across the country carried on the Pentavalent vaccination among working people and children.
Mangyongdae and Kanggye Koryo medicine factories were renovated on a more modern basis and many medical apparatus factories updated.
This year, the country organized a national meeting of public health workers, national symposium on medical science and the 14th national exhibition of scientific and technological achievements in public health to bring about a radical turn in health service. -0-
