UK KFA Statement on the 40th anniversary of the July 4th statement

The UK Korean Friendship Association today issued the following statement on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the July 4th north-south joint statement.
            Forty years have passed since the joint statement between the north and south of Korea was signed. It was the shining fruition of the ideas of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung
The great leader  President Kim Il Sung put forward the proposal for north-south negotiations in which he said he was ready to meet anytime with all political parties and public organizations and individuals of south Korea in order to normalize the north-south relations and discuss the issue of national reunification . This showed his great magnanimity and earnest patriotism 

The north-south high-level political talks were opened in May 1972 and the joint statement was published on July 4, 1972 entirely thanks to the efforts of the great leader President Kim Il Sung who worked tirelessly for the reunification of Korea

The fascist puppet  regime of dictator Pak Chung Hee  overturned the July 4 Joint Statement  just after it had been signed . This was done at the behest of the U.S. imperialists who did not want to see a reunified Korea at any cost. The Park fascist regime arrested many people and incited confrontation with the the DPRK

The core principles of national reunification put forward by the great leader President Kim Il Sung on the 4th of July 1972 were fully embodied in the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4th declaration.

The Lee Myung Bak puppet regime is trying to do the same as the Park  Chung Hee by negating the June 15th and October 4th declaration as well as the July 4th joint statement. The Lee Myung Bak fascist puppets are not only blocking reunification and causing a confrontation with the DPRK but are also selling out the country to the US , Japan and even the EU, thus negating the principle of independence , one of the core princple of the July 4th statement.

We believe that the Korean people under the leadership of respected First Secretary general Kim Jong Un will achieve reunification on the basis of independence.
