A very successful meeting of the JISGE and ASSPUK yesterday to mark the 70th anniversary of the birth of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il and the 30th anniversary of the publication of the immortal treatise "ON THE JUCHE IDEA" The meeting far exceeded our expectations in terms of attendance and content. It was attended by members of the JISGE and ASSPUK as well as UK KFA members and people from the labour and progressive movement. People came from a long way outside of London to attend the meeting.
The meeting began with a 1 minute silence in remembrance of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il .
The chairman of JISGE made the opening speech said
"Firstly allow me to say how shocked I was at the passing away of the greatleader comrade Kim Jong Il. It was literally a bolt from the blue which no one expected , even the enemies of the DPRK admitted they did not expect it and were unaware of it until the DPRK announced it to the world. So much for their so-called intelligence .On the morning of December 19th I received a cellphone text message from a good friend which said " Very sad news. Condolences to All". I was puzzled , who could have died ?I thought . I found a radio on and switched it to Radio 4 suddenly I heard them say "death of Kim Jong Il " , what this is impossible ! , this can't be true ? I remembered that only recently the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il gave guidance to the new Kwangbok supermarket. It seemed impossible that he could die. I struggled to switch my computer on(it is quite antiquated or so I am told by the younger generation) , finally it came on and I went on to the KCNA website. There was the official announcement with a portrait of a smiling great leader comrade Kim Jong Il. I guess it becomes all the more stark when you think there here in this very room on the 19th of November we held our successful international KFA meeting and it seemed so impossible at the time that such a sad happening would occur only a month later However we not here to mourn the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il but to celebrate his life and idea and moreover to learn from them.
Comrade Kim Jong Il was born on February 16 th at the Mt Paektu secret camp He was born within the sound of gunshots of the anti Japanese war. He was the son of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung leader of the Korean peoples armed struggle against imperialist Japan and comrade Kim Jong Suk the woman anti-Japanese woman heroine. He was not born in a mansion or comfortable home with all conveniences but in a humble log cabin. Undoubtedly the greatest feat in the field of ideology and theory of the great
leader comrade Kim Jong Il was the publication of ON THE JUCHE IDEA in March 1982
President Kim Il Sung had first elaborated the Juche idea during the years of the anti-Japanese armed struggle and later expounded it in many of his works and talks to foreign journalists . However no one had systematised or explained its profound nature with reference to philosophy. Indeed it was a pressing demand of the times that the Juche idea should be systematised In his work “ON THE JUCHE IDEA” he explained the core principles of the Juche idea and its relationship to philosophy and historiography
Comrade Kim Jong Il's life was great and it is impossible to cover all his achievements
within a single paper or indeed even a lengthy book. How can one sum up a theorist who wrote more than 800 works which covered a multitude of subjects from historiography to military , how can one sum up a leader who was both a great military commander and at the same time a film and opera director ? Leader Kim Jong Il was a great genius and a great leader ,for this we honour him on the 70th birth anniversary. The ideas and policies are today carried forward by his successor respected general supreme commander Kim Jong Il . Kim Jong Il ideas and achievements will live forever in the hearts and minds of the Korean people and Juche idea followers.

A lecturer in economics at the University of London and former secretary of the Institute of Independence Studies spoke next . He said "It is nearly 30 years since the historic treatise "On the Juche Idea " was published by the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il. This was a summing up of the Juche Idea which had been pioneered by the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung the leader of the Korean revolution. The Juche idea is not a complex one idea but based on the concept that the masses are the masters of the revolution and construction . It rejected factionalism.
Previous theories and philsophies had failed to define the role of man in the world. Moreover bourgeois anthropology simply tries to understand man by looking back millions of years to prehistory whereas in fact the Juche idea teaches us to look at the present nature of man as a constructor of socialism and maker of revolutions . The Juche idea defines man as having independence, creativity and consciousness.
The secretary general of the JISGE, secretary of the Stoke On Trent branch of the JISGE an head of Staffordshire KFA spoke on Songun politics
"Ten years after the beginning of the Fatherland Liberation War (the Korean War) KIM JONG IL gave indepth guidance to the Seoul Ryn Kyong 105 Guards Division, by providing field guidance to the one of the first Korean Peoples Army divisions to liberate Seoul during the Korean War. KIM JONG IL emphasized the importance of arms in the Korean Revolution to the men and officers of this KPA division and to the Korean people at large. From the early 1960s to the present day KIM JONG IL has consistently stressed the vital necessity of Songun Politics for obtaining the final victory of the Korean Socialist cause.
In the course of ideological development of the Korean Revolution KIM JONG IL's announcement of the beginning of the Songun Revolutionary Leadership on August 25th 1960 was the continuation and consolidation of the positions put forward at the Kalun Meeting by KIM IL SUNG on June 30th 1930, that was where the Juche Idea was formulated. Both these dates are profoundly signficant in the evolution of the Juche Idea and of Songun Politics, which have become the cutting-edge ideology of our era."
Songun Politics have become a subject for study and emulation among diverse progressive and anti-imperialist groups across the world. In many countries around the globe ,organisations are being founded committed to the study and dissemination of Songun Politics. For instance there is the UK Association for the Study of Songun Politics, the US Songun Study Group, the Ukrainian Treasured Sword of Songun Association, the Ugandan Songun Study Association and many other groups and associations throughout the world. From the ghettoes of Bogota to the foothills of Kathmandu, the flame of Songun lit on the Mount Paektusan is now illuminating the way forward for all those fighting injustice and oppression, for independence.
The greatest memorial to the brilliant legacy of President KIM IL SUNG has been the persevation and consoildation of Korean style socialism by Chairman KIM JONG IL. Socialist Korea under the Revolutionary Songun Leadership has gained something really distinctive, that is a society which has achieved harmonious unity and a degree of egalitarianism unknown elsewhere in the world. On the Glorious 50th anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary Songun Leadership,the future for Korea is a extremely bright one under the guidance of the Great General KIM JONG IL."
A member of the audience recited a poem in praise of the DPRK.
A message to the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il was adopted by the meeting.
The meeting was informed of the hideous repressive action of the Japanese authorities against Juche idea follower. It was agreed to adopt an emergency resolution and send to the Japanese embassy.
Meeting closed at 4.45pm.
