“Freedom of Thought” Touted by Imperialists Dismissed as Hypocritical

Pyongyang, May 3 (KCNA) -- The “freedom of thought” touted by the imperialists is a hypocritical slogan aimed to suppress the progressive idea in the capitalist societies and justify all their means and methods to spread bourgeois reactionary ideas and the ideological and cultural poisoning of other countries.

Rodong Sinmun Tuesday observes this in a bylined article.

It goes on:

The imperialists-touted “freedom of thought” is aimed to suppress the progressive ideas and spread bourgeois reactionary thoughts.

The reactionary bourgeois ruling class pretends to allow to a certain extent the progressive ideas in a bid to embellish the capitalist society as “a sample of freedom” and “democratic society” but mercilessly suppresses them when it considers they are threatening its rule even a bit.

The suppression of the progressive thoughts still persists in the capitalist countries.

The imperialists are becoming evermore undisguised in their ideological and cultural poisoning of the socialist countries and independent countries against imperialism.

The imperialists are openly vociferating that those countries they cannot bring them to their knees with nuclear weapons can easily be brought down by the spread of bourgeois ideology and culture.

They are running the whole gamut of means and methods to spread bourgeois ideas and culture. They include newspapers, magazines and broadcasting services and other propaganda media, diplomacy under the veil of “cooperation” and “exchange” and even advertisement.

The serious consequences entailed by the acceptance of the above-said “freedom of thought" is eloquently proved by the tragic reality of those countries where socialism collapsed. -0-
