 The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI) and the  Korean Friendship Association  of the UK( KFA UK )issued the following joint statement on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the start of work of the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea:

                                                        

 The start of work of the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL  62 years ago on the 19th of June 1964  was  truly a great landmark in the development of the Korean revolution and the history of building the Workers Party of Korea. Comrade KIM JONG Il after starting work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea(WPK) devoted his tireless energy to the cause of Juche-orientated party building which had been started by the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG the eternal president of the DPRK and founder of the glorious Workers' Party of Korea.  

  Since comrade KIM JONG IL started at the Central Committee of the WPK, a thoroughgoing and qualitative change took place in the work of the Party.                   

     When comrade KIM JONG IL started work at the Central Committee of the WPK many communist and workers parties of the world were experiencing difficulties due to the emergence of modern revisionism. Comrade KIM JONG IL rebuffed attempts to undermine the leading role of the WPK, the vanguard party by emphasizing the great Juche idea authored by President KIM IL SUNG  as the iron guiding ideology of the Party.

         

   Comrade KIM JONG IL stated that "The Workers’ Party of Korea will shine for ever as the Party of Comrade Kim Il Sung"   and built up the WPK into  an ideologically integrated whole.      
                           

                                        

    Thanks to the guidance of Party work by comrade KIM JONG IL  successes in all fields such as the economy, culture, science and defence great victories were scored and a stunning leap forward in the building of Juche socialism took place. The great leader comrade KIM JONG IL wrote many works of genius such as "On the Art of the Cinema " which expounded the seed theory.

  Comrade KIM JONG IL always stresses that the WPK had a mass foundation and mixed with people giving on -the spot guidance. He was against the abuse of power and bureaucracy in Party work.
 Comrade KIM JONG IL fully embodied the idea of "The People are my God" of President KIM IL SUNG and built the WPK into a motherly party that took care of people's lives. He adopted a modest and popular style of work and fully developed the people-orientated policies on such as the abolition of taxation, free health care, free education and low-cost housing. Under the benevolent and all-embracing politics of comrade KIM JONG IL, the DPRK developed into a harmonious socialist family, the like of which is not seen in any other country.

  It was thanks to the dynamic and untiring leadership of comrade KIM JONG IL that the WPK could win victory after victory even in the most adverse circumstances in which the odds were stacked against it .

                                 

 In the 1990s due to the frustration of socialism in some countries, owing to modern revisionism, the imperialists stepped up efforts to stifle socialism in People's Korea by applying sanctions . Comrade KIM JONG IL affirmed the validity and scientific accuracy of socialism by authoring works such as  'Abuses of Socialism Are Intolerable ' , ' Socialism Is A Science '  and Giving Priority to Ideological Work is Essential for accomplishing socialism ". He rallied the people of the DPRK to defend socialism. Moreover comrade KIM JONG IL countered the imperialist's attempts to overpower People's Korea by administering Songun (army first ) politics, the treasured sword for defending independence and won victory in the confrontation with the imperialists . Firm foundations were laid for a powerful, prosperous socialist country based on single-hearted unity.

The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI) and the  Korean Friendship Association of the UK  ( KFA UK ) issued the following joint statement today in support of the press statement of  spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry(FM)  of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) that was issued on Saturday 13th of June ;

With regard to the fact that the US imperialists and their satellite countries have been of holding meetings of the so-called "nuclear consultative group " and clamouring for ""extended deterrence dialogue"  as well as continuing  to call for the DPRK's so-called "denuclearisation " (in reality a call for the DPRK to abandon the socialist system ), the DPRK FM spokesperson makes it clear that "It is an unreasonable act and fantastic daydream to call for nuclear disarmament of the other belligerent party in meetings intended to set the use of nukes targeting the DPRK and other regional countries as a policy and design a detailed plan for carrying it out." Moreover the DPRK FM denounces and rejects the moves of the US , ROK and Japan to create nuclear confrontation and to disarm the DPRK in violation of its constitution .

The nuclear status of the DPRK is a solid fact . It is 20 years since the DPRK became a nuclear power . It's nuclear status is irreversible 

Not only is the US busily planning nuclear war against the DPRK but at the same time is selling a massive amount of weapons to the ROK puppets including air to air missiles .

The DPRK's just and correct response is to continue to build its nuclear shield in order to repel and deter  interference by the US and others .We support the DPRK's exercise of its sovereignty in building up its nuclear deterrence .We join with the DPRK FM in denouncing the US war moves and calls for so-called denuclearsiation. The DPRK's nuclear status is here to stay whether the Americans like it or not.

Press Statement of DPRK Foreign Ministry Spokesperson

Pyongyang, June 14 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea issued the following press statement on Saturday:

The U.S. and its satellite countries had such confabs for nuclear war as a "nuclear consultative group" meeting and "extended deterrence dialogue" and repeated their nuclear threat against the DPRK and assertion about someone's "denuclearization".

It is an unreasonable act and fantastic daydream to call for nuclear disarmament of the other belligerent party in meetings intended to set the use of nukes targeting the DPRK and other regional countries as a policy and design a detailed plan for carrying it out.

The DPRK Foreign Ministry resolutely denounces and rejects the U.S.-Japan-ROK moves for collective nuclear confrontation and the sinister attempt of Western countries to force a sovereign state to violate its constitution in the international arena, and warns of the consequences to be entailed by their repeated provocations.

The U.S. and its vassal forces' absurd accusation against the DPRK and their collaboration for posing a nuclear threat to it can never affect the irreversible position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state.

The "denuclearization" is an irreversibly finalized agenda.

The U.S. is now busy with plot-breeding moves for a war simulating the use of nuclear weapons while massively delivering various kinds of military hardware, including latest air-to-air missiles, to the ROK and Japan. The reality clearly proves the reason and justness for our state to concentrate its efforts on bolstering up the capacity for self-defence essential to ensuring its security.

The building up of nuclear shield on the part of the DPRK is a legitimate process for deterring interference and threat from outside, guaranteeing the national sovereignty and security and ensuring the regional peace and stability.

In coping with the enemy countries' daily-growing nuclear threat, our state is taking military and technical countermeasures involving the possible capabilities and means of every category in an all-round way.

The DPRK is firm and unshakable in its determination to control and counter with nukes, on the principle of ensuring security and defending peace by dint of powerful strength, the nuclear threat by the enemy countries aimed to encroach upon its absolute and inviolable sovereignty and security.

No matter how hard the U.S., Japan and the ROK may tone up their rhetoric, it is impossible to change the present position of the DPRK as a nuclear weapons state.

No one can recover the "denuclearization" permanently disappeared in the current of the times.

The expansion of the DPRK's nuclear capacity and its self-defensive capability based on it are irreversible, and this is a strong security guarantee for the regional stability and peace. -0-

KCNA Commentary on Japan's Distortion of History

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- Japan has recently got more vicious in its moves to distort history, irritating its neighboring countries.

According to report, Japan is going to update the exhibition boards at the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum within 2026. What merits attention is that it is trying to delete the word "massacre" in the board dealing with the Nanjing Massacre and write the words "Nanjing Incident" in it.

The Nanjing Massacre is a horrible crime the Imperial Japanese Army committed by massacring more than 300 000 people in the region between December and January 1938 during their aggression on China. It has been deeply recognized by the world people as the greatest tragedy in the 20th century.

This atrocity in Nanjing was defined as "massacre" even in the decision of the Far Eastern Military Tribunal, held to judge Japan's aggression war crimes, and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) registered it as the Memory of the World Regional Register.

However, Japan is making desperate efforts to describe as a trifling "incident" such hideous past crime that can never be concealed or distorted. The fact shows to what extent the neo-militarists' moves to distort history have reached.

As well known, the Japanese imperialists killed more than one million people in Korea alone and forcibly drafted more than 8.4 million young and middle-aged people for battle sites of aggression and slave labor sites.

In particular, they abducted and drafted 200 000 Korean women for the sexual slavery for the Imperial Japanese Army. Such atrocity is the hideous state-sponsored crime unprecedented in the history of wars.

But, the Japanese politicians imposingly organized what is called "Society for New History Textbook Reform" long ago to cover up the reality and distort history.

Moreover, they adopted a decision of the Cabinet meeting that considers "improper" such expressions referring to Japan's past crimes as "forcible conscription" and "comfort women for the Imperial Japanese Army", claiming that teaching the history of aggression as it is means "self-tormenting outlook on history".

Under this decision, the Japanese textbooks do not mention about the massacres committed by the Imperial Japanese Army during their occupation of Korea and neighboring countries and the death toll, and the victims of the sexual slavery are insulted in those textbooks as "prostitutes" and "volunteers for money".

The expression "aggression" had gradually disappeared in textbooks as Japan's aggression upon Asian countries in the past began to be described with such sophistic expression as "liberation of Asia", and at present the phrase "aggression" was totally erased.

The past crimes of Japan, which left incurable wounds to the Korean people and neighboring countries in Asia, are now being distorted in all aspects.

Then, is it right to think what the Japanese government intends while so desperately trying to distort the truth of history, which can never be concealed, is to merely deny its past crimes and evade making apology and settlement?

No.

In fact, the "Self-Defense Forces" of Japan have completed all preparations for overseas aggression and is now emerging the most dangerous aggression forces in the region, advocating "threat from outside".

Owing to Japan, an emergency is being created in the Asia-Pacific region, a situation where there will be nothing unusual even if a war breaks out at once.

What is most important for Japan at this time is to prepare the younger generation to be those in direct charge of war and those who are engaged in it.

Herein lies the reason why Japan persistently clings to infiltrating wrong view on history through exhibition and curriculum.

Japan should be mindful that the more desperate efforts it makes to distort history, the earlier such action will bring its self-destruction. -0-

The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI) and the  Korean Friendship Association of the UK  ( KFA UK ) issued the following joint statement today in support of the press statement of  a spokesperson of the Tenth Department of the DPRK Foreign Ministry issued on the 13th of June which was titled "As expected, the ROK is an invariable enemy state obsessed with hostility and confrontation":

The ROK puppet regime has made a pretence that that does not seek regime change and that it wants "peace " with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) however the mask came off when the boss of the ROK puppets visited Europe and had talks with the leaders of the European Union (EU ). A joint statement was issued that denied the DPRK 's nuclear status and refused to recognise the DPRK as a nuclear power . The ROK-EU joint statement also denounced the DPRK's military co-operation with the Russian Federation.

The spokesperson for the Tenth Department of the DPRK Foreign Ministry correctly brands this as a "  clear infringement on the sovereignty of our state and a grave hostile act, and it is little short of throwing away such camouflaged signboards as "respect for social system" and "no-seeking after hostility" which the ROK has talked so much."

The talk of peace from the ROK puppets is just nonsense . Now they have shown their true face . It shows that the ROK is the No  1 enemy state of the DPRK.

The statement concludes that "Whatever the Seoul rulers say and do, the DPRK will deem it a challenge and remain unchanged in its principle of confronting the enemy aimed to definitely treat the ROK as a hostile state."

There can never be co-existence with the ROK which is permanently hostile and confrontational towards the DPRK . The DPRK is correct to maintain a strong posture against the ROK.

Mangyongdae Children's Union Camp

  There is the Mangyongdae Children's Union Camp at the foot of the scenic Mt. Ryongak in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

  The camp established in May 1957 was rebuilt in 2016.

  Campers frequent the folk games ground, hall and library where they can enjoy diverse cultural and emotional life and acquire rich knowledge.

  The camp also has a cooking practice room where campers can cook rice and various other foods by themselves, animal sheds, boating ground and outdoor swimming pool. The campers like them very much.

  Everything of the camp was wonderfully built for the convenient living of schoolchildren and according to their mind.

  The respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un visited the remodelled Mangyongdae Children's Union Camp in June 2016.

  That day, he learned in detail about the remodelling of the camp and preparations for its operation.

  After looking round different places of the camp, he dropped in at the boating ground.

  Saying there were only rowing boats at the camp, he noted that he would send pedal boats.

  He added that the children prefer such kind of boats.

  Like this, he wants to give more to the children.

  Thanks to the meticulous love of Marshal Kim Jong Un who is so concerned for the rising generations, the future of the country, schoolchildren are enjoying themselves at the camps built in all parts of the country.

 

Press Statement of Spokesperson for Tenth Department of DPRK Foreign Ministry

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Tenth Department of the DPRK Foreign Ministry on June 13 issued the following press statement titled "As expected, the ROK is an invariable enemy state obsessed with hostility and confrontation":

The chief executive of the ROK threw off the bothersome mask of "peace".

The president of the ROK, on a visit to Europe, had talks with top leaders of the European Union and made public a joint statement employing provocative words that the DPRK's position as a nuclear weapons state and its exercise of sovereign rights including the DPRK-Russia military cooperation are "illegal" and that they would never "recognize", but "strongly denounce" them.

This is a clear infringement on the sovereignty of our state and a grave hostile act, and it is little short of throwing away such camouflaged signboards as "respect for social system" and "no-seeking after hostility" which the ROK has talked so much.

It has already been highlighted at home and abroad that the ROK regards hostility and confrontation as its foundation and it can not exist even a moment without them.

The ROK is the first enemy state, which can never exist without pursuing hostility toward the DPRK, and the U.S. "dagger" for invading the DPRK and the rest of the Asian Continent. This is just the entity and destiny of the ROK.

As its inevitable consequence, the U.S. favorite "dagger" finally stuck out from the silk kerchief called "peace".

Through the above-said confrontational declaration, the chief executive of the ROK voluntarily proved before the world that there can never be "peaceful coexistence" between the DPRK and the ROK and the hostile relations will be maintained between them forever and that the ROK is an accomplice with same ulterior motives as the Ukrainian puppet forces.

That the chief executive of the ROK displayed his unusual "frankness" shows that he lost his face to resort the deceptive farce about "peace declaration" and "theory on two peaceful states" any more.

Whatever the Seoul rulers say and do, the DPRK will deem it a challenge and remain unchanged in its principle of confronting the enemy aimed to definitely treat the ROK as a hostile state. -0-

Chief of External Policy Office of DPRK Foreign Ministry Comments on U.S. Sale of Military Hardware

Pyongyang, June 13 (KCNA) -- The chief of the External Policy Office of the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Saturday gave the following answer to a written request of KCNA to comment about the U.S. approval to the sale of latest air-to-air missiles and associated equipment to the ROK:

Despite reasonable concern of the international community, the U.S. and the ROK are systematically tightening their military collusion and nexus to drive tensions in the Korean peninsula and its vicinity to an extreme.

It is a typical example that the U.S. Department of State approved the sale of latest air-to-air missiles and associated equipment worth nearly 300 million U.S. dollars to the ROK in the way of "Foreign Military Sales".

Earlier, the U.S. administration approved the sale of new-type helicopters for naval operation, attack helicopters, precision guided bombs and other military hardware worth billions of U.S. dollars in less than a month, more openly revealing its intention to increase the ROK's military potentials and thus drive it to the advanced post for intensified confrontation with regional countries.

This is only a part of the U.S. strategic attempt to deliver various kinds of weapons and military hardware worth 25 billion U.S. dollars to the ROK till 2030 and thus incite it to military confrontation with the DPRK and other regional countries.

The DPRK Foreign Ministry strongly denounces the U.S. and the ROK for rapidly accelerating arms buildup in a very worrisome direction to destroy the military balance in the Korean peninsula and threaten the regional security environment, warning of the grave consequences to be entailed by it.

The U.S. arms export just means war export and the introduction of U.S.-made weapons is little short of the accumulation of tension and confrontation.

In fiscal year 2025 alone, the export scale of weapons, the U.S. administration licensed through the "FMS" and direct commercial sale mode, amounted to more than 330 billion U.S. dollars and the number of arms transactions approved through the "FMS" reached more than 16 000.

The massive arms supply by the U.S. to the ROK, Japan and Taiwan is the root cause of aggravating military tension in the Asia-Pacific region including the Korean peninsula and the Taiwan Strait, and its scope is expanding worldwide, forecasting the unstable prospect of global peace.

The gradually escalating U.S.-ROK military conspiracy and the U.S.-led arms buildup of collective character invite due vigilance and awakening among regional countries and serve as a sufficient reason for reinforcing corresponding defensive measures.

Clear is the stand of the DPRK to remove new threats and maintain the balance of strength in the region by steadily updating and bolstering its deterrent for self-defence to cope with the provocative arms buildup of the U.S. and its allies, and the DPRK will redouble its responsible efforts to defend peace and security on the Korean peninsula and in the region in the future, too. -0-

Plenary Meeting of DPRK SPA Standing Committee Held

Pyongyang, June 12 (KCNA) -- The First Plenary Meeting of the Standing Committee of the 15th Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was held at the Pyongyang Assembly Hall on June 11.

Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., Workers' Party of Korea, first vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and chairman of the SPA Standing Committee, presided over the plenary meeting.

Present there were Vice-Chairman Kim Hyong Sik, Secretary General Ko Kil Son and other members of the SPA Standing Committee.

Present as observers were officials concerned of the SPA Standing Committee, the Secretariat of the Cabinet, and ministries and national agencies.

The plenary meeting discussed as agenda items the issue of deliberating and adopting the Law of the DPRK on Academic Degrees and Titles and the issue of electing judges and people's assessors of the Supreme Court.

There was a report on the main contents of the draft law examined at the Legislation Committee of the SPA.

On the basis of study and discussion of the draft law, the plenary meeting adopted with full approval the decree of the SPA Standing Committee "On Adopting the Law of the DPRK on Academic Degrees and Titles".

The plenary meeting elected judges and people's assessors of the Supreme Court of the DPRK. -0-

The fourth stage of 10,000 flats in Hwasong area concluded the construction project of 50,000 flats in Pyongyang. At the inauguration ceremony Comrade Kim Jong Un stressed that it is our Party’s faith, the absolute outlook on the people and thoroughgoing spirit of serving them to provide them with anything they want and everything for them under any circumstances. Report of KFA UK picket of the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office -No to sanctions on the Songdowon International Children's Camp 06.06.2026

 On the 6th of June  the Korean Friendship Association of the UK(KFA UK ) picketed  the Foreign ,Commonwealth and Development Office at 1500 hours BST .

KFA UK called the picket to protest against the unjust sanctions imposed by the British government  on the DPRK Songdowon International Children's Camp  .

Picketers held placards denouncing the sanctions and demanded that they be rescinded at once

KFA UK Chairman Dr Dermot Hudson stressed that the sanctions against the Songdowon International Children’s Camp  are totally unfair as it is a children’s camp not a missile base or a nuclear complex.

Leaflets denouncing the sanctions  were given out and the UK media was engaged with .

The British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI) and the  Korean Friendship Association of the UK  ( KFA UK )  issued a joint statement on the 24th anniversary of the murder  of south Korean schoolgirls Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son by the US imperialist aggressor troops in south Korea;                                                   
  24  years have passed since two young schoolgirls in south Korea lost their lives at the hands of the US army. The US imperialist aggressor troops in south Korea are guilty of taking the lives of two innocent schoolchildren who were walking home from school. Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son were just two innocent schoolgirls on their way home from school.
   This atrocity by the US imperialists took Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son from their families and friends. Had they lived the two girls would now be in their 20s, starting out in life with hopes and aspirations. However, life with all its opportunities and challenges was taken from them by the US imperialists. No one was jailed for the crime. It was clearly a deliberate and premeditated act by the US imperialist troops who hate and despise the south Korean people.                                             
                       
     South Korea does not have the right to try US soldiers who commit serious crimes on south Korean soil to try them. The US under the "Status of Forces Agreement " enjoys 'extraterritoriality'. This gives them colonial privileges in south Korea. It means that they can swagger around and commit serious crimes in south Korea and get off scot-free.
  The killing of  Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son by US troops proves beyond doubt that the US army needs to withdraw from South Korea and that the US needs to change its policy towards Korea.
    Although the US imperialists perpetrated such an evil crime as killing schoolgirls, US troops still remain in south Korea lording it over the south Korean people Since the killings of Sin Hyo Sun and Sim Mi Son numerous crimes such as murder, robbery and rape have been committed by the US troops in south Korea. Despite this the south Korean authorities have agreed to pay more money in upkeep expenses for US troops
      The presence of US imperialist troops in south Korea is intolerable for the south Korean people. The US imperialist troops in south Korea are the root of crimes and depravity.
   The US imperialists commit crimes and atrocities not only in south Korea but other parts of the world where they have troops such as Okinawa.
    In the independent socialist DPRK, there are no US forces and the people are free from US occupation. Children can play happily without the fear of being killed or injured by Yankee soldiers or suffering a fate worse than death. The US imperialists falsely accuse the DPRK of human rights violations but it is the US imperialists who violate the human rights of the south Korean people on a daily basis.
This was a terrible crime against humanity by the US but no one has ever been held accountable. We call for the total, full and unconditional withdrawal of US troops from the south of Korea. We fully support the struggle of the south Korean people for the withdrawal of US troops.

Response to the article “Wall Street Street Journal’s “ World’s Most Surprising Economic Success Story Is…North Korea —"-answering the distortions

On Monday 8th of June the “Wall Street Journal “(WSJ) , a house of US imperialist high finance ran what was at first sight a very surprising article and even appears sympathetic to the DPRK(for example admitting that the DPRK is building more new homes than Los Angeles or Chicago ) but contains a sting in the tail  and a lot of old anti-DPRK propaganda tropes .

The co-author of the article Dasl Yoon a south Korean journalist who is based in Seoul . Ms Yoon actually interviewed me 2 years ago about my visit to the DPRK in April 2024  and I sent her pictures of my visit to the DPRK however my interview was never published and instead the WSJ article relied on accounts from a tour guide from capitalist commercial tour company and the usual so-called “north Korea experts “.

What the article does show is that the DPRK’s rapid economic development under self-reliance can no longer be ignored by any rational observer . However the authors of the article distort the DPRK’s economic success . The article ignores the real reasons for the DPRK’s economic success instead asserts “ Its economy is flourishing in ways not seen in years, aided by arms sales and troop deployments to Russia, supplies and financing from China, and the ability to flout international sanctions to import more energy, components and materials.” This is a gross and blatant distortion. The DPRK has an independent self-reliant economy . Foreign trade is only 4.8 per cent . From January 2020 to mid 2024 the DPRK’s border was closed . In 2023 trade with Russia was only worth $34.4 million . The DPRK’s trade with China remained under the 2019 figure.In fact as a 20 times visitor to the DPRK I can say that there actually less Chinese made goods around and more DPRK made goods around . As to troop deployment to Russia how could it benefit the DPRK economy or result  in faster growth , it is a nonsensical assertion.

The article raises the old horse chestnut of sanctions breaking but this is another distortion which ignores the self-reliant economy of the DPRK . The DPRK does not need to break or evade sanctions because it can produce most of what it needs at home from a wrist watch to an ICBM . Streets like Hwasong street were built with Korean labour not Russian or Chinese workers and not with money from outside . 

The upswing in construction work in the DPRK really began before the Ukraine war back in 2016-2017 and to some extent in 2012 when Changjon Street in Pyongyang was built . It was reported at the 9th plenum of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea that “ The 12 goals for the national economic development were all attained with 103 percent of grain production, 100 percent of electric power, coal and nitrogenous fertiliser, 102 percent of rolled steel, 131 percent of nonferrous metal, 109 percent of logs, 101 percent of cement and ordinary cloth, 105 percent of marine products, 106 percent of railway freight transport and 109 percent of houses under construction. And the overall economy witnessed clear production growth, including 220 percent of motor production, 208 percent of transformers, 121 percent of bearings, 140 percent of electric zinc, 121 percent of lead, 113 percent of paper, 110 percent of salt, 109 percent of cosmetics, 100 percent of flat glass and 104 percent of magnesia clinker, and plan discipline was established.”

Compared with the total growth of the economic sector in 2020, the previous year of the 8th Party Congress, the production of important indices largely went up in 2023 by raising the production of iron trioxide 3.5 times, pig iron 2.7 times, rolled steel 1.9 times, machine tools 5.1 times, cement 1.4 times and nitrogen fertiliser 1.3 times and the GDP grew up 1.4 time"

The article inaccurately portrays the pizza restaurant in Mirae Scientists Street as new but in fact I visited it in 2019  and it had actually been opened in 2017.

An old trope that Pyongyang is where  “country’s elite live.”  is repeated by the article . This is just complete rubbish .Many Pyongyang citizens are actually industrial workers , others are waitresses , shop assistants , drivers ,railway workers etc . In fact Pyongyang is a city of workers , a proletarian city. In fact probably one of the more working class cities I have actually been in.

The articles contains  with a string of lies about the DPRK some of which are truly ludicrous . There is the usual rubbish about cyber-warfare and hacking which the DPRK has repeatedly denied . It is claimed half the population of the DPRK are “malnourished “ but does not offer any evidence and the rest of the article appears to contradict it . Similarly it is claimed that that the DPRK’s GDP is less than 1 per cent of the US’s but this figure is based on Western figures that grossly underestimate the DPRK’s GDP and ignore the purchasing power parity . In fact even back in the early 1980s the DPRK’s per capita GDP was over $1,200 . 

Of course the usual clap trap about human rights is wheeled out with the glib blanket assertion “The country is one of the world’s worst violators of human rights,” .Has the DPRK tried to genocide a neighbouring country ? Is it bombing refugee camps ? 

To conclude the “Wall Street Journal “ is just presenting old slanders against the DPRK in a new way .

Pyongyang, June 9 (KCNA) -- The sexual slavery against Korean women committed by the Japanese imperialists in the past was the crime organized and put into practice by the then Japanese government and military.

The Japanese imperialists, who set up comfort stations in an organized way and buckled down to fostering gang rape, mobilized all government and military power to forcibly abduct the Korean women massively.

Seiji Yoshita, who was involved in it, in an interview with the Hokkaido Shimbun in February 1992, confessed that what is clear is that they did not recruit the comfort women but arrest them and that no one willingly complied with it.

As confessed by the Japanese, it is quite clear that it was impossible to take away 200 000 Korean women one by one, but only by the exercise of unlimited government and military power.

The Japanese imperialists, who mobilized not only administrative and police organs but also gendarmerie and army, forcibly abducted and drafted many Korean women including unmarried women under or over the age of 20 and women with infants. Even teenage girls were included.

The Japanese imperialists took the women to the places where they invaded, and committed to brutal atrocities that made even the brutes blush.

They killed in a cruel way the women who resisted the unbearable insults, maltreatment and evil deeds, and did not obey their demands.

In this regard, a Japanese woman Sumiko Shimizu said at the 3rd Pyongyang Seminar on "Peace in Asia and Role of Women" that the Japanese imperialists committed the most vicious act against the Korean people, violating the sexuality and human rights of Koreans and destroying their lives. She denounced that it was an international crime committed organizationally and violently by the Japanese army and government.

The world had never witnessed such heinous and tremendous unethical atrocities as the sexual slavery committed by the Japanese imperialists which is unimaginable with the reason of human being. -0-

Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- Comrade Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and president of the People's Republic of China, on a state visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, visited the Central Cadres Training School of the Workers' Party of Korea on Tuesday.

Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, accompanied him to the school.

Among the Chinese visitors were Cai Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau, member of the Secretariat and director of the General Office of the C.C., CPC, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the C.C., CPC and minister of Foreign Affairs, and other entourage members and Wang Yajun, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK.

Present there were secretaries of the WPK Central Committee, including Kim Jae Ryong and Ri Il Hwan, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretaries of the C.C., WPK.

Being honored to have the great leaders of the two parties on its campus soon after it marked its 80th founding anniversary, the school, the supreme political one of the DPRK, was filled with a warm atmosphere for welcoming them at a historic time when communication, concerted action and close cooperation between the two ruling parties of the two countries constantly advancing under the banner of socialism have been placed on a new strategic level.
