KCNA Commentary on Japan's Shameless Rash Act to Repeat Past Crimes against Humanity

Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- China and Russia have recently disclosed some information about the germ warfare and living-body tests perpetrated by Unit 731 of the Imperial Japanese Army during the Second World War.

What China revealed is the unit commander's statement about the fact that the Japanese imperialists accelerated the study and mass production of germ weapons and that they committed even the living-body tests.

The documents Russia submitted state that Japan sent Soviet Army soldiers, captured in the battles of Lake Khasan, Khalkhin-Gol, etc., to Unit 731 as guinea pigs for testing germ weapons.

This is new strong evidence testifying to the Japanese imperialists' crimes against humanity.

As already known, the Japanese imperialists had the unit, stationed in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province of China committed vivisection and other frightening atrocities for the development of biological and chemical weapons and killed an average of over 600 people every year.

Just before Japan's defeat, they did not hesitate killing the remaining over 400 people with potassium cyanide and machine guns and burning away their bodies to cover up their crimes.

Countless are the barbarous and cruel war crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists in the last century including the monstrous germ warfare atrocities by Unit 731.

However, Japan is trying hard to justify and cover up the history of blood-stained crimes, far from making a full apology for and reflect on their heinous past crimes.

Recently the German embassy in Tokyo released an article saying that the Second World War was a war ignited by German nationalism and Japan's militarism. The ultra-right forces of Japan reacted to it by insisting that Japan has nothing to do with the sexual slavery and such massacres as what was perpetrated by the Nazis. They even made sophism that Japan joined the war not to be a colony and, therefore, it can not hold the same blame for the war as Germany.

Recently the ultra-right reactionaries visited the Yasukuni Shrine again to swear revenge for Japan's defeat. And they also made public "the defense white paper for children" to imbue the new generation with territorial and reinvasion ambitions.

Not content with impudently denying the past crimes and inspiring militarism, Japan is going to destroy the "one per cent of GDP" model for military expenditure, which it has maintained though nominally, and has become all the more hell-bent on the arms buildup for the aggression war preparations such as the creation of new units, like "the second space operation unit", and the development and purchase of war hardware.

If mankind remain an onlooker to such acts of Japan, they will face misfortune and sufferings again.

Japan is a dangerous reinvasion-minded country and fascist force which deserves the international community's condemnation and punishment.

If Japan continues to make a mockery of and threaten mankind and commit crimes, it will be doomed to destruction. -0-

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Meets Young People Who Volunteered to Difficult and Challenging Sectors

Pyongyang, August 31 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, met young people, who volunteered to work at difficult and challenging sectors of socialist construction and started with a clean slate, and blessed them bright future on August 30.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was accompanied by Jo Yong Won, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and secretary for organizational affairs of the C.C., WPK, Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the C.C., WPK, Ri Tu Song, department director of the C.C., WPK, and Mun Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League.

He held hands of each of the young people who volunteered to work at difficult and challenging sectors with high awareness and enthusiasm to glorify their youth in the van of the worthwhile era, highly estimating their deeds and mental world.

Those young people, who had been lagging behind others, realized the gratitude of the mother Party and the socialist system that embraced and brought them up and started with a clean slate by volunteering to work at the most difficult and challenging posts. He said he fully supports them and praised their deeds as laudable and admirable ones.

The production of lots of young people heartily responding to the call of the Party and the revolution in the era when an arduous struggle is being waged to bring about a new victory of the revolution is an expression of the advantages of the socialist system in our country, and a demonstration of the noble view on the life and future of our youth, he said, adding: It is the best pride, asset and motive power for the development for a Party making revolution to have its reliable successors, reserves and promising main force.

He earnestly called on the young people to become a kindling spark and a great fire in the on-going gigantic general advance and to become youth heroes endeavoring to bring about prosperity and progress of the country with gem-like patriotism.

History of Friendship and Solidarity Carried Forward Invariably

Today, the Korean and Cuban peoples are significantly marking the 61st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the Republic of Cuba established diplomatic relations on August 29, 1960. This served as a historic occasion for comprehensive development of the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

For the last 60-odd years, the DPRK and Cuba have strengthened and developed the fraternal and comradely relations of mutual support and close cooperation on the sacred road of joint struggle for accomplishing the socialist cause.

After the victory of Cuban revolution, President Kim Il Sung extended both material and moral support, as well as sending firm solidarity to the Cuban people in their struggle to beat off the aggressive attempts of the imperialists, and to defend socialism and the gains of the revolution.

In October 1962, during the Caribbean crisis, President Kim Il Sung saw to it that the DPRK government issue a statement calling upon all peace-loving countries and people of the world to wage a decisive battle to check the aggressive attempts of the U.S. imperialists against Cuba. He also gave encouragement to the Cuban people by taking determined steps to make sure that even our women in Cuba, to say nothing of the members of DPRK Embassy and students there to turn out in the decisive battle against the U.S. aggressors.

In March 1986, President Kim Il Sung had an emotional meeting with Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz in Pyongyang and deepened the fraternal feelings of friendship and comradeship.

Chairman Kim Jong Il always paid special attention to the development of relations with Cuba, saying that it is our obligation and duty as the class brothers to support the Cuban people.

Chairman Kim Jong Il met several delegations from Cuba. In February 1992, he met the delegation of Party, state and armed forces from Cuba which was led by Vice-Minister of Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba who is also Chief of the Navy from Cuba. In April 1992, he met the delegation of Party, state, government and revolutionary armed forces from Cuba which was led by Vice-President of the Council of State who is also a member of the Political Bureau of Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba. At the times of meeting, he encouraged them in their struggle to build socialist Cuba and firmed up the invincibility of the DPRK-Cuba friendship.

The relations of friendship and cooperation between the DPRK and Cuba which are based on the time-honoured history and tradition continue to be inherited and developed on the basis of revolutionary principles and a sense of comradely obligation.

In November 2018, Comrade Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, warmly received Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel, President of the Council of State and the then President of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, who visited our country, and provided a programmatic guide to further expand and develop cooperation and exchange in several fields including the economy, culture, public health, science and technology, in common interests of the peoples of the two countries.

The historic Pyongyang meeting between the two leaders became a watershed which demonstrated to the world the invincible solidarity between the DPRK and Cuba and elevated the strategic comradely relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries onto a new higher level in conformity with the developing situation.

In fact, the DPRK-Cuba relations continue to develop on good terms for centuries and generations, pulling storm and stress of history under the exceptional attentions of the leaders of the two countries.

Today, the Cuban people are achieving many successes in their vigorous struggle to defend and advance the cause of socialism towards victory while smashing grave challenges from within and without.  We are rejoiced over their successes as our own.

We will, in the future, too, continue to extend full support and solidarity to the Cuban people in their just struggle and move forward hand in hand with them on the road of struggle for independence against imperialism and for socialism.

Youthful Life Flowering under Ray of Great Sun

There are countless young people around the world who are proud of their vibrant ambition and youthfulness. There are also many countries which enacted the Youth Days.

But when we look around the world, there are no youths like our vanguard fighters who are displaying patriotism and devotion on the road of struggle for the country and people with boundless loyalty to their leader and firm faith in their cause. No one can possibly imagine a country like ours – a grand flower garden brimming with love and affection – where the whole country turns out to bless the youth on their holiday.

Our youth movement is now advancing straight ahead along the road of victory, and our youth are enjoying a worthy youthful life, full of vibrant ambition and enthusiasm. All these are a brilliant fruition of the immortal feats and painstaking efforts of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who created and developed the great history of valuing and loving the youth.

Early at the dawn of the revolution, President Kim Il Sung initiated the youth movement of our country and brilliantly translated into reality the Juche- oriented ideas on youth movement at every stage of two arduous revolutionary wars and socialist construction. Thanks to his lofty exploits and immortal leadership, the blood lines of Paektu could only be inherited in its pure form on this land.

Chairman Kim Jong Il put forward the line on attaching importance to the youth which made the whole country ablaze with the youthful fervor. Under his outstanding and seasoned leadership, he developed our youth league into a reliable rank of loyal vanguards and a scout party for the revolutionary cause of Juche, which trusts and follows only the Party and the leader. His image as a peerless great man born of heaven became an indispensable lifeline and a driving force for our youth, enabling them to advance straight ahead braving the arduous march and forced march without a standstill or retreat even a single step.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, with his warm magnanimity and fervent love, is putting into reality the immortal ideas of the great leaders on youth movement to perfection. He is indeed the father and the great teacher dear to our youth.

The respected Marshal called our youth with affection as the patriotic youth and the heroic youth, saying that he wants to hold them high to be envied by the world. He instills in the hearts of the new generation with the spirit and mettle of Mt. Paektu and leads every step of its work along the right path. His leadership of attaching importance to young people is moving the hearts of our youth.

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un spares nothing for the youth and saw to it that the events commemorating the Youth Day are held annually in a grand style. He even sent a congratulatory message to the youth on their holiday, far from the road to the front. Be it dangerous islet posts and far-off rough construction sites, he visited them without fail and without a break, bestowing only inestimable trust and benevolent affection on them.

Our youth are honoured with this warm love and great trust. As such, they could resolutely brave hardships and difficulties of history, which others would not withstand even for a few months or days. And they could defend our socialist country as an impregnable fortress, and could glorify their priceless youthful life as creators of world-startling miracles and innovations on major fronts of socialist construction.

Luxury, pleasure, money and wealth are regarded as the whole of life and as the aim of one’s lifetime in a capitalist country. This has become a common thing for the youth to live only for themselves there. The reality is that they can’t get even a bit of sympathy though they wander in the cesspool of desperation and crime, forsaken by the times. Such a miserable reality clearly proves that only our socialist system is a bosom in this world which makes sure that the youthful aspiration and ambition come into full bloom and that our youth are held high as the pillars of the country.

That is just so.

Even though the warmth, affection, love and trust of the world are put together, these can’t be compared with the great love of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un for the youth. Under the resplendent ray of such love of his, our Korean youth would always move along the road of victory and glory, the road of loyalty and feats.

The U.S. is in Decline

The press and experts of the world now continue to make a barrage of comments saying that “The U.S. is a declining power.”, “The U.S. influence is on the wane.”, “How many allies can be found in reality that count on the U.S. strength?”

On August 25, Chinese Newspaper “Global Times” made its comment that the Afghan effect would be shown in different forms in various parts of the world. It also commented that this will immediately become a process of weakening the U.S. influence with its image being tarnished, adding that it will vividly present a picture of the U.S. falling in decay and ruin.

On August 25, Turkish Newspaper “Daily Sabah” carried an article contributed by a Turkish politics analyst which said that the U.S. decline is in its “worst” status.

The analyst pointed out in his article that the unexpected developments in Afghanistan are a direct result of the weakened hegemony and strength of the U.S. He also stressed that Taliban’s assumption of power is not a result of a miscalculation or mistake by specific bodies of the U.S., but it resulted from the fact that the U.S. had lost its strength in designing international order or resolving regional crisis.

The expert also maintained that the last two decades could be called a period when the U.S. had lost its hegemony in the international political arena, asserting that the policy makers in the U.S. should recognize that all developments of the world are no longer under their control.

Earlier to this, Indonesian Newspaper “Jakarta Post” made comments that the Afghan situation does not mean a mistake from Republican Party or Democratic Party in the U.S., but it does mean a failure of the overall U.S. foreign policy as well as total failure of American politics and culture caused by the U.S. politicians who lack sufficient understanding about different societies.

That the U.S. is obviously “a declining state” is the common recognition gained by the international society through Afghan situation.

KCNA Report on Heroic Feats Performed by Young People in Annals of Socialist Construction

Pyongyang, August 29 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency issued a report on Saturday on the heroic feats performed by young people of the country at the most difficult and labor-consuming sites in the annals of socialist construction.

The idea of the Workers' Party of Korea of prioritizing youth and its leadership has been a motive power that helped our passionate young people to glorify their youth period as performers of feats in socialist construction and heroes of the times, the report said, and continued:

When the whole country turned into ruins after the three-year war, President Kim Il Sung made sure that the young people took the lead in the grand project for building a powerful and prosperous socialist country, counting on them.

Within just 12 hours after the end of the war Pyongyang-Sinuiju passenger train began operation and within one week passenger trains were put into operation in all the main railway lines and in less than two months, the electric furnace No. 2 of the Kangson Steel Plant (at that time) was restored. All these miraculous achievements were associated with the proud feats performed by the young people.

The national young socialist builders' conference in March 1958 which was held in the presence of the President drastically raised the high spirit and revolutionary enthusiasm of the young people determined to dedicate themselves to the worthwhile struggle for solidifying the foundation for building a powerful and prosperous country.

After the conference more than 2 300 young people from across the country volunteered to work at the site for developing Phyongnam coal field. And lots of other young people volunteered to fields of important significance in the development of the national economy and improvement of people's living.

In 1961-1969 period, over 1.5 million young people volunteered to difficult and labor-consuming fields and over 2.6 million young people joined more than 70 000 youth shock brigades. Also the number of youth workteam, youth workshop (pit) and "the Minchong (the Sarochong)" machine tools increased to over 3 580, 520 and 3 800 each. This is clear evidence showing the revolutionary stamina and fighting spirit of young people who glorified the era of legendary stories on Chollima.

The tradition of heroic struggle of young people opening up the breakthrough in socialist construction with great creation and innovation were steadily carried forward in the decades of the revolution and construction.

The feats of young people were further glorified under the outstanding politics of attaching importance to youth pursued by Chairman Kim Jong Il who set forth the slogan "Love Youth!" for the first time in history and led the rising generations step by step to grow up to be the successors of the revolutionary cause of Juche.

The High-Speed Youth Shock Brigade personally organized by the Chairman fully demonstrated its might as a regularized and powerful militant unit opening up the breakthrough in major sites of socialist construction in the speed campaign.

The members of the youth shock brigade went to the new Pyongyang-Madong railway construction site and finished the railway electrification project in less than two months though it was said to take more than two years.

Numberless are admirable creations built by the High-Speed Youth Shock Brigade in the era of the Workers' Party including the Dressing Plant No. 3 of the Komdok Mining Complex, Kowon-Pongsan railway electrification project, Haeju-Sariwon railway electrification project, Grand People's Study House, Mangyongdae Fun Fair, Pyongyang Department Store No. 1, Changgwang Health Complex and Changgwang Street (1st phase).

The young people displayed their patriotism and militant spirit in the struggle to carry out the grand fighting programme set forth by the 6th Congress of the Party.

With the 7th Congress of the League of Socialist Working Youth of Korea held in October 1981 as an occasion, the young people took further confident steps forward along the direction of advance indicated by the Party, hardening their pledge to display their honor as pioneers and shock brigade of socialist construction.

Slogan "Let's become young heroes in worthwhile struggle for glorifying Kim Jong Il's era!" served as a sign of faith of the young people who volunteered to work at the site for laying railways in the northern part of the country and it represented their revolutionary enthusiasm.

Since the start of the project on December 1, 1983, the members of the youth shock brigade advanced in full spirit, thus completely finishing all the project construction in the first phase section by August 25, 1988.

Whenever there presented difficult and heavy tasks in the revolution and construction, our Party opened up the breakthrough of advance, firmly believing in youth as the reliable support point. It brought the young people to the fore of the grand advance movement in the 1990s.

The revolutionary stamina and indomitable fighting spirit of our young people were fully displayed in the construction of the Youth Hero Motorway.

Young people went to the construction site from across the country and completed the huge project in a span of over 700 days despite difficult conditions beyond imagination.

Our young people grew up to be patriots and heroes who put the country above their own luxury under the care of the Chairman, and the youth league has been honored with the noble title of reserve combat unit and detached corps of the supreme commander.

Kim Jong Un, our young people have grown up to be pillars propping up the socialist country and have greeted the greatest heyday of the youth movement in the new era of the Juche revolution.

In hearty response to the Party's militant appeal to wonderfully build Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station by the 70th anniversary of the Party, the members of the youth shock brigade created the spirit of Paektusan hero youth and the myth of heroic youth of carrying out the huge task which would take 10 years at normal speed in little over 120 days despite the severe cold in the northern area.

During the 70-day campaign for greeting the 7th Congress of the WPK with high political enthusiasm and shining labor achievements, a total of more than 1.2 million young people vied each other to take part in shock brigade activities and performed collective innovation.

The young people of the whole country are now all out to the gigantic struggle to open up the breakthrough in the implementation of the new five-year plan along the direction of historic advance indicated by the 8th Congress of the Party.

More than 10 000 young people readily volunteered to difficult and labor-consuming fields desired by the Party, stirring up the era up to now since the Party Congress.

With an ardent affection for and unshakable conviction in socialism, you have turned out to work bravely for the revolution, defying trials and sacrifice; I highly appreciate your laudable patriotic deeds, and extend warm congratulations and militant greetings to our young people.

The red blood of the anti-Japanese forerunners who pioneered the revolution under the leadership of Comrade Kim Il Sung is now running through the veins of the rising generations, and this clearly proves that the lineage of the revolutionary cause of Juche which started in Mt Paektu is being stoutly inherited.

The enemies are now trembling with terror at this powerful current and spirit.

The imperialists' anti-DPRK attempt to degenerate and undermine the ranks of our young people by means of vicious sanctions and pressure and tenacious ideological and cultural infiltration has vanished like bubbles in the face of this strong current.

It is a wild goose chase to try to pull down the bulwark of socialism by breaking away our younger generations from the revolution.

The revolutionary advance made by you, hot-blooded young people, is heightening the morale of the ranks of the general onward march as the days go by and injecting confidence in sure victory and youthful vigour into the whole country.

To look back, every upsurge of our revolution has begun with the sweeping enthusiasm of the young people for volunteering, and this enthusiasm has always given rise to a revolutionary and patriotic zeal, resulting in a stirring era.

Thanks to the boundless loyalty and devoted passion of the young people, who had settled down on the rugged mountains and wild sea and shed valuable sweat true to the appeal of the Party that had called young people to the mountains, seas and development areas, monumental edifices of the era mushroomed in the desolate areas and a great heyday of the legendary Chollima era and WPK era opened on this land.

Young people courageously volunteered to work on the first lines designated by the Party and revolution when the country was going through trials and demanding another leap forward, and performed undying exploits, shaking the land and sky; these legendary tales are never a thing of the past, living only in memory; they now serve as a driving force that encourage our revolution to advance vigorously.

A state with a huge army of young people, who stoutly carry forward the revolutionary spirit and fighting stamina created by their preceding generations, advances by leaps and bounds full of youthful vigour without knowing any senility for ever.

The communist society, which the hot-blooded young revolutionaries pictured in their minds today 94 years ago at the beginning of the Korean revolution, is not a thing of a distant future, but will turn into reality without fail thanks to the unflinching struggle of the patriotic young people boundlessly loyal to the call of the WPK.

Now we are in the severest-ever trials since the founding of our state, and are overcoming the unprecedented difficulties with an indomitable spiritual strength.

In this situation, the news that our young people volunteered, in groups and one after another, to work on the major fronts of socialist construction is more encouraging than that hundreds of thousands, nay millions, of tons of steel and fertilizer or tens of thousands of sets of machine have been produced.

What delighted me most is that the young people, who had been lagging behind others, reached an excellent decision to devote themselves to their motherland as befits members of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League that has been rallied on the strength of patriotism, and made a new start of their lives by volunteering to work at the difficult and challenging sectors.

When the youthful hearts burning with patriotism fire millions of others' and the fire burns up all sorts of feeble and impure elements that remain and are hindering our advance, the timetabled victory of the Korean revolution will be hastened that much.

The Party expects that you will further heighten the patriotic zeal and fighting spirit that are running high at the moment to become standard-bearers and fighters who achieve breakthroughs in the vanguard of the advancing ranks.

Many difficulties and trials may lie on the road you have to follow from now on.

Of course, you must have set out on this road with a mental preparation to brave difficulties; whenever you vacillate even for a moment, you should invariably follow the road of patriotism to the end, recalling the pledges you made on the day when you volunteered and reflecting yourselves on the spiritual world of your preceding generations.

When all of you transform the whole country including the remote villages on the communist lines by turning the outposts of socialist construction into theatres of struggle and feats and demonstrating the mettle of the youth shock brigade and youth death-defying corps, the speed of advance of our revolution will be further accelerated and our politico-ideological and class position will be further consolidated.

I am in belief that all the young people, who volunteered to work in the difficult and challenging sectors and are unsparingly devoting their loyal and patriotic sweats at early ages in order to ease the anxiety and agony of the Party and the state as much as they can, will exalt their honour of being heroic youth who are loved by their collectives and comrades as treasures of their workplaces and artists of great feats and who will remain in the memory of their motherland and fellow people.

As a saying goes that suffering borne in youth is more precious than gold, the worthwhile traces of our young people who devoted their youth, accepting trials with pleasure, in the difficult and challenging sectors will be their most valuable life-long wealth that cannot be bartered with anything else and a precious asset which they can proudly hand down to the coming generations.

Recently, the youth league officials are putting the main emphasis on the league's internal work and ideological education as intended by the Party, and are bringing about a turn in the spirit and manner of their work. As a result, visible changes are taking place in the political consciousness and mental state of our young people.

Youth league organizations and officials should further enhance the atmosphere of the positive begetting another positive by drawing on this experience, and conduct the work with the sentiments and feelings of young people in a substantial way. In this way, they can prepare the ranks of our youth into a collective of steadfast patriots, into a reliable special detachment of our Party, who work with devotion for the prosperity of our socialist motherland.

It is a firm determination of our Party to take each and every young man and woman born on this land to the communist society.

Party organizations should channel their particular efforts into the work with young people, regarding the work of the youth league as part of Party work, so that all the young people can display their youthful wisdom and courage in the struggle for fresh victory in socialist construction.

Party organizations should take maternal care of the work and life of the young people who volunteered to their relevant areas and units, and lead them to live with honour at every step on the road of loyalty to the Party.

They should also hold the families, which sent their children to the difficult and challenging sectors, as patriotic families, and take good care of them.

The millions of young people are a firm cornerstone, which our Party relies on at any time, and a strong force that demonstrates a more formidable strength the harder the times are.

The cause of our Party will win victory after victory by dint of the ardent loyalty of our proud and trustworthy young people and of the full support and trust of all other people.

My earnest request is that you, in good health at new workplaces in strange localities, should add brilliance to your beautiful life by creating new innovations and performing uninterrupted feats without betraying the expectations of your parents, siblings, teachers, organizations and comrades.

I wish a bright future of our beloved young people.

Let us all struggle dynamically for the fresh victory of our revolution and the bright future of our great state.

I firmly believe that you will fully demonstrate to the whole world the heroic mettle of the Korean youth as befits true sons and daughters of the motherly Party. -0-

On the 28th of August  five years ago   dear respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN made public the work " Let Us Usher in a Golden Age of the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Youth Movement" which clarified important tasks to be carried out in the field of youth work. Now youth work in People's Korea is surging ahead with revolutionary fervour !

    Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN put forward the laudable idea of turning the DRPK into a youth power  . Essentially the DPRK have always regarded young people and the vanguard and shock brigade of the revolution . Marshal KIM JONG UN Has  carried this idea to a new higher level.As youth are one of the three pillars that the Korean revolution , dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN has turned his attention to turning the youth league into a militant Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist organisation that will make a pivotal contribution to modelling the whole of society on  Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.As dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN says "If the youth league is to fulfil the sacred mission and duty it has assumed for the times and the revolution, it should model itself on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism." This is indeed very true.

   Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN reviewed in the work  the past  achievements  of the youth league which is so rich in history and puts  forward key tasks for the youth league ,which has now been renamed the Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist Youth League to reflect the requirements of the times.

    Very correctly dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN puts stress on the education of youth league members to turn them into ardent and loyal Kimilsungists-Kimjongilists.He elaborates in detail about this" They should also step up education of young people in Kim Jong Il's patriotism, revolutionary faith, anti-imperialist and class consciousness, and socialist morality, so that all of them become true patriots with ardent love for their country, hot-blooded fighters with indomitable revolutionary faith and unwavering anti-imperialist and class consciousness, staunch champions of the class struggle and cultured social beings with a high degree of cultural attainments and ennobling moral traits."This constitutes a militant programme for turning the young people into militant revolutionary fighters against imperialism and all class enemies.

     In this work respected Marshal KIM JONG UN shows an acute awareness of the moves of the US imperialists and class enemies to corrupt and poison the minds of the youth through ideological and cultural infiltration.This was done in the  USSR and Eastern European socialist countries.However thanks to the wisdom and perception of dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN this cannot happen in People's Korea.

   Thanks to this work and the efforts of dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN  the DPRK has taken on the proud appearance of a youth power .

Our State Takes Full Responsibility for Our People’s Life and Safety

The Report of the United Nations Secretary-General on the situation of human rights in our country, which had been submitted to the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly, was made public on August 20.

This report, distributed annually by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, is a plot document full of sheer falsity and fabrications. And obviously, it has all along been categorically negated and rejected by our country.

The point in question is that such conspiracies and slanders have now crossed the line into openly condemning as “human rights abuses” the anti-epidemic emergency measures taken by our state to protect the life and safety of its people from the global pandemic.

This is no less than a matter of great astonishment.

The calamity of the malignant virus that has covered this planet is driving the entire humankind into uncertainties and fear.

Recently, not a few countries are taking all possible anti-epidemic measures, to a varying degree to suit their respective situations, for, inter alia, blocking the affected areas or whole of the country, to say nothing of local airports, ports and railway stations in the face of the rapid spread of variants of virus.

I cannot understand at all why only our anti-epidemic measures should be singled out as “human rights abuses” out of the general anti-epidemic measures taken by all countries.

Moreover, contents and forms of measures taken to protect the life and safety of its own people are totally an internal matter that falls within the competence of a given country.

We believe that the UN Secretary-General would be better aware of the implications of his every movement in the international arena and the priority area concerning the current human rights problems, because fairness, objectivity and strict neutrality become an in-principle anchor of his activities.

The human rights violations such as extreme racism, racial discrimination, refugee crisis and gun-related crimes are incessantly perpetrated in the Western countries even at this point in time.

In the overall context, an “excessive interest” has been levelled at our perceived “human rights abuses”, while failing to mention a single word about the above human rights violations. It makes us have a strong doubt if his personal view has been overshadowed by an urging from a certain power hostile to our country.

I take this opportunity to express my sincere expectation that the UN Secretary-General would put an earlier end to the selectivity and double standard deeply rooted in the field of human rights, rather than impairing his international reputation for the lack of prudence.

Our state takes the full responsibility for our people’s life and safety.

46 Years Under Banner of Anti-Imperialism, Independence, Friendship and Solidarity

Through the unremitting struggle against all forms of subordination, inequality, interference and aggression, Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) has now developed into a powerful force aspiring after genuine international justice, thus rising to global prominence and demonstrating its power.

Over 46 years since its admission into NAM at the NAM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held on August 25, 1975 in Lima, Peru, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has traversed the road of glorious struggle, overcoming all sorts of trials of history under the uplifted banner of anti-imperialism and independence.

Our country has now developed into a powerful fortress for the common front of anti-imperialism, and NAM has consistently advanced along the road of independence and prosperity. These are entirely the brilliant fruition of immortal leadership of the external revolutionary activities undertaken by President Kim Il Sung, outstanding thinker and theoretician and great sage of the independent era.

President Kim Il Sung wisely led the NAM member states to adhere to the fundamental idea of anti-imperialism and independence, and to counter the aggression and interference of domination forces with the strategy of unity by forming a broad unified front.

He met with a number of heads of state and prominent political figures from the non-aligned countries and taught them that they should unite each other to prevent their countries from being reduced again into the colonies of imperialists, thus making sure that the NAM member states overcome the divergences, differences and disputes among themselves, and achieve unity and solidarity.

Spurred on by the great program for consolidating the unity and solidarity of NAM as has been set forth by President Kim Il Sung in his historic conclusion “For the Development of the Non-Aligned Movement” in June 1986 and in other related works, the non-aligned countries were able to smash the imperialists’ attempts for fomenting discord among the NAM member states, relying on the despicable double-dealing tactics, and have steadfastly advanced along the road of anti-imperialism and independence.

The immortal feats and outstanding leadership performed by President Kim Il Sung for the global independent cause and the advancement of NAM could indeed make it possible for the 20th century to mark its historic position as an era of independence.

In the grim period of mid-1990s when the destinies of peoples were at a crossroads of either falling into the imperialists’ slaves or becoming independent people, Chairman Kim Jong Il set forth scientific revolutionary theory that all countries and nations can only achieve independent development and prosperity when they adhere to Juche character and national character.

This is an immortal contribution made by Chairman Kim Jong Il, since the non-aligned countries and other anti-imperialist and independent countries have been able to form strong unity and fully discharge their international duties and missions assumed before the era in their struggle for global independence.

Comrade Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, faithfully upholding the noble idea for global independence cherished by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il with his brilliant wisdom, extraordinary leadership, and outstanding revolutionary practices, has solemnly declared his great intention at the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea to resolutely carry on anti-imperialist joint struggle on a worldwide scale.

In today’s world beset by increasingly undisguised interference and aggression against the sovereign states, independence and equality cannot be presented by others but these precious gains can only be achieved by the efforts and strength of all the non-aligned countries. And when the NAM member states undertake united and active efforts, a desired fruit will be borne in safeguarding independence and resolving international issues in a fair way.

It is an invariable stand of the DPRK to actively promote the global independence by realizing genuine international justice and to strengthen friendship and solidarity with all countries respecting our sovereignty.

The DPRK government will, as ever, expand and develop the relations of friendship and cooperation with the non-aligned countries and exert all its efforts to strengthen and develop NAM under the uplifted banner of anti-imperialism and independence.

True Colours of U.S. and Western Catchphrase of Human Rights and Humanitarianism

More than 70 years have elapsed since UNGA adopted and proclaimed Universal Declaration of Human Rights through its Resolution 217 in December, 1948.

In the ensuing time, the U.S. and other Western countries, drumming home the message that they are the genuine “defender of human rights and humanitarianism”, have been high-handed in their interference in the internal affairs of other countries, applying the American-style and Western-style human rights and humanitarianism as a yardstick.

The recent situation in Afghanistan laid bare the double-dealing nature and impudence of the human rights and humanitarianism that the U.S. and the West publicize so much.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation appeared on the YouTube channel “Soloviov Live” on Aug 18 and said as follows:

The real attitude of the West towards human rights has been revealed by the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan as well as by the fact that many people fell in a row from the U.S. transport plane at take-off. Looking at the voluminous reports on global human rights issues written by the U.S., UK, EU, and NATO member states, we need to recall how they have ensured and respected human rights.

The Afghans, imploring at the top of their voices, clung to the U.S. transport plane only to lose their lives – they are not at all the first victims.

For the past two decades since the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in the name of “counter-terrorism” in 2001, scores of thousands of innocent Afghans have been killed, creating a man-made catastrophe of nearly ten million Afghan refugees.

The facts and figures are telltale evidences of the true colours of the catchphrases – human rights and humanitarianism of the U.S. and West who chant “human rights protection” first thing in the morning like prayers.

Some thoughts on the Delegitimisation of People’s Korea.

Over the past 10 or 11 years and to some extent before  the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has faced a most pernicious campaign to deny its existence or to remove its legitimacy so as to pave the way for regime change , for the overthrow of the socialust system  .  This campaign of Delegitimisation has taken many and varied  forms from the obvious such as threats and sanctions to the less obvious . It has included attacks on the Juche idea , the guiding ideology of the DPRK.

 One example is the human rights campaign against the DPRK and the so-called UN Commission of Inquiry on the DPRK . The CoI did not pay one visit to the DPRK and did not bother to actually interview any DPRK citizens or DPRK diplomatic representatives . Instead they went to south Korea and talked to the south Korean authorities and met so-called ‘defectors ‘ . Why ? Why weren’t actual DPRK citizens interviewed , why was the DPRK allowed to present its case to the Commission of Inquiry , why was its voice silenced . The answer is that the COI seeked to deny the DPRK’s legitimacy and was part of a conspiracy to overthrow socialism in the DPRK .

   There are more subtle and hidden ways in which the DPRK is Delegitimisatized . Go into any bookshop or library in the UK and you will not find a single book published in the DPRK or written by a pro DPRK author ( we will pay a tenner to anyone who can find a single book published by the DPRK in a bookshop or library in the UK ) . Academics apparently refuse to accept DPRK material as legitimate source and also refuse to  have any serious discussion on the Juche idea just dismissing it as ‘propaganda ‘ . Juche idea followers and sympathisers of the DPRK are denied teaching posts at UK universities but teaching posts were given to so-called ‘defectors ‘ (who probably were not qualified for the job ) .

  In any debate the anti-DPRK narrative is always accepted as if it was a tablet of stone but anything put forward in support of the DPRK is always questioned and usually rejected . Supporters of the DPRK are barked at and told to provide sources . Representatives of KFA UK have been treated in a most appalling manner by the BBC and other British media .

  Some KFA members live in fear for their jobs.

Just to conclude, reflecting on the above you cannot help thinking that Western liberals are worse than the Nazis when it comes to the DPRK.

A common fallacy refuted .

                                                               

Some people think People’s Korea is the same as the Soviet Union  or a carbon copy of the Soviet Union.  This was even said in a comment on one of our popular Facebook posts in which someone said such and such must happen in the DPRK because it happened in the USSR , end of story etc . This kind of argument involves two old tropes ; firstly , that all socialist countries are the same - it does not matter if it is the old East Germany , China under Mao , China under Deng , the DPRK , Vietnam or Cuba , it is all the same thing  ! Secondly, that the DPRK was established by the USSR and not by the struggle of its people led by great President KIM IL SUNG .

  Of course this is yet another fallacy . The DPRK is quite different from the USSR and it was not a creation of the USSR but it is its own creation , the creation of the Korean people led by President KIM IL SUNG . It is an independent , Juche -based socialism . There are of course many differences between the USSR and DPRK , the obvious one is in size . Both countries pursued their own roads to socialism .

   The DPRK actually had to fight against the big power chauvinism of some of the leaders of the USSR . The DPRK upheld anti-revisionism whereas the USSR slid into modern revisionism ( renunciation of basic principles ) and pursued the line of peaceful co-existence and peaceful co-operation with the USA .The DPRK firmly upheld revolutionary principles .

     The DPRK also took measures to eradicate bureaucracy and create a genuine people-orientated  system of work . In the DPRK the CHONGSAN RI method of work was initiated by President KIM IL SUNG . The CHONGSAN RI method means that leading officials go down to the basic units and help people . It is a work method totally opposed to bureaucracy and elitism . In the DPRK officials have to do one day of manual labour per week .

    Ordinary DPRK citizens can go into the Koryo Hotel and restaurants etc in the centre of Pyongyang . In fact the DPRK is one of the most egalitarian societies in the world . We were told when visiting a factory in the DPRK that income differentials are only 2 to 1. This compares to an income differential of 30 to 1 during the Brezhnev period in the USSR which markedly increased under Gorbachov . It was pointed out to us as well that workers in factories in the DPRK had opportunities to learn new skills and advance to a higher grade , what a contrast to the class divided societies of the West with their dead-end jobs and big inequalities.

 A the end of the day , the USSR collapsed but the DPRK survived and upholds the red flag of socialism. That is the big difference .

Deconstructing the Mainstream Media's Reporting on People's Korea .

People's Korea is incessantly demonized and lied about by the mainstream media . The effect of the toxic lies and misinformation in the mainstream media to try to turn people in countries like the UK and US against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea .

 Let's take a cool , objective and honest look at the 'reporting ' of the DPRK in the mainstream media . 

 Certain undeniable facts stand out .

1. Most reports about the DPRK are written by journalists based in Seoul , the capital of south Korea , not by reporters based in Pyongyang although the Associated Press does in fact have staff in the DPRK . As south Korea is technically at war with the DPRK these reports are hardly likely to objective .

2. A lot of material on the DPRK in the mainstream media usually quotes 'defectors '. The truth is that most 'defectors'  have not lived in the DPRK for 10 or 20 years . Moreover once arriving in south Korea they are 'processed ' (ie brainwashed ) by the south Korea National Intelligence Service .' Defectors ' just parrot whatever is put inside their heads by the south Korean National Intelligence Service as well the CIA and other Western intelligence services. Some 'celebrity ' defectors  are people who are virtually unemployable but make large sums of money by making sensationalist allegations against the DPRK.

3. The mainstream media also relies on expat American and European academics who teach in south Korean puppet universities . As they are paid by the south Korean state they just spout what they are told and usually recycle garbled information and rumours about the DPRK they have heard . Many of these academics suffer from a deep anti-communist , orientalist and racist bias.

4.Some material in the mainstream media about the DPRK comes from so-called 'think tanks ' 'NGOs" and  'specialist news websites ' . In reality most of these are linked to the CIA , different Western intelligence agencies and the US military industrial complex . One such outfit loves to style itself as 'independent ' ( independent of what exactly ? , the truth ?) despite having been shown to receive funding from the US Department of Defence and US Army Pacific Command. This particular outfit is based in Seoul , the capital of south Korea (surprise , surprise ) . If it were to publish genuinely independent and objective information about the DPRK , it would be shut down immediately by the south Korean authorities and its staff arrested under the south Korean National Security Law , they would either be deported or jailed for 7 years . This is the simple truth of the matter .

 So when you read a story about the DPRK in the mainstream media please bear the above facts in mind

Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- The 1980s is recorded as a period of Pyongyang prosperity in the DPRK's history. In the period, many monumental edifices representing the times and history sprang up like mushrooms after rain and the speed of the 80s was created.

All the monumental edifices built in Pyongyang are associated with the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who worked heart and soul to turn the capital city of Pyongyang into a world-level city.

True to the instructions of the President to take the leadership of the Pyongyang City construction in the mid-1970s, the Chairman personally led the grand construction campaign for sprucing up Pyongyang.

He guided the first-stage project for the construction of Changgwang Street in detail so as to make the construction of this street a starting point for bringing about a fresh leap and innovation in the city construction in the 1980s. He also directed a construction campaign for sprucing up the city in succession.

Under his leadership, builders modernly arranged the residential districts in main, eastern and western parts of Pyongyang and erected such high buildings as 20-, 30- and 40-storied apartment buildings in different parts of the city. They wonderfully built the Changgwang Health Complex, the Ice Rink, Chongryu Restaurant, the Ponghwa Art Theatre, the Mangyongdae Amusement Park and other bases for cultural and leisure activities.

They also successfully completed the construction of six kilometer-long Kwangbok Street, a large-scale sports village Chongchun Street and the May Day Stadium amid the vigorous movement for creating the speed of the 80s.

In those days, the West Sea Barrage, a miracle of the 20th century, was built in a mere five years and the Dressing Plant No. 3 of the Komdok Mining Complex in a short period of one year.

Indeed, the 1980s is shining as the period of creation and feats that the DPRK people provided an eternal foundation for national prosperity under the wise leadership of the President and the Chairman, holding aloft the banner of self-reliance. -0-

  The Persimmon Company is a women's coast artillery company widely known to the Korean people.

  The great leader Kim Jong Il visited the company several times after he started his leadership over the revolutionary armed forces on August 25, Juche 49(1960).

  It was in early February Juche 84(1995) that he called at the company for the first time.

  He watched the training of the coast artillerywomen and said with great satisfaction that they are very good at training. He felt the temperature of the barracks and saw the soldiers' faces chapped by the sea wind, paying deep attention to their life.

  Kim Jong Il left the company but didn't forget them. On August 28, he called all the servicewomen of the company to watch their swimming training. The servicewomen were reluctant to part with him and he promised them that he would visit the company in the season when the persimmons got ripe.

  Keeping the promise, Kim Jong Il visited the company on November 24, Juche 86(1997).

  The servicewomen were so glad that they failed to greet him properly. Looking at them with his affectionate eyes, Kim Jong Il said with a bright smile on his face that he kept the promise he had made two years before.

  Looking at the persimmon trees planted around the barracks that day, he affectionately called it Persimmon Company.

  Since then, the women's coast artillery company has been known as "Persimmon Company".

  Kim Jong Il had a special love for the company. He said that whenever he visits he becomes more familiar with the company and gets deeper impressions from it and the company has a lot of prides and anecdotes.

  He called at the company for the fourth time early in November Juche 95(2006) when persimmon trees in the barrack yard were heavy laden with red fruits.

 Soldiers of the company rushed to him. Kim Jong Il met them and asked if they are all well and if those who left the company are also well.

  That day, he expressed satisfaction over the fact that all the company soldiers are fully prepared politically and ideologically, in military technique and physically. He looked round several places of the company, enjoyed an art performance and highly praised the women's coast artillery company as a model of the whole army in all aspects.

  In the last days of his great life, Kim Jong Il, enjoying an art performance given by soldiers of the Persimmon Company, warmly recollected that he got intimate with the company during the arduous march.

  Kim Jong Il thought of the soldiers of the Persimmon Company when the persimmons got ripe and the soldiers of the company eagerly waited for him, looking at the ripening persimmons. It showed the blood ties between Kim Jong Il and the soldiers.
