Pyongyang, November 28 (KCNA) -- The National Peace Committee of Korea issued a statement on Sunday as regards the fact that the United States and the south Korean puppet group finally kicked off the largest-scale combined military exercises aimed at armed invasion of the DPRK in the West Sea of Korea. The madcap aggression war exercises launched by them in the sea and the sky near the extension of the Military Demarcation Line in the West Sea of Korea are putting the Korean Peninsula at a state of ultra-emergency while creating the grave situation whereby peace and security are exposed to serious threat, the statement points out, and says: The West Sea of Korea is the most acute and sensitive area where military conflict might break out anytime due to the illegal "northern limit line" unilaterally drawn by the U.S. and the ceaseless provocation of the south Korean puppet group. However, the U.S. and the south Korean puppet group kicked off in this area the military exercises with huge aggression armed forces including nuclear powered carrier involved before the recent smoke of shelling disappeared. This is no more than an attempt to find a pretext for aggression and ignite a war at any cost. In October last they planned to stage the frantic anti-DPRK war games with U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier George Washington again involved in the West Sea of Korea only to be checked by the unanimous protest at home and abroad. But this time they carried such scheme into practice at last under the pretext of the Yonphyong Island incident. It is the height of folly for the U.S. and the puppet group to browbeat the DPRK with such nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. The U.S. and the puppet group of traitors will be wholly held accountable for having escalated the tension in the Korean Peninsula and the rest of Northeast Asia and wrecked the regional peace and security with their reckless war maneuvers.

KCNA: Who Is to Wholly Blame for Armed Clash in West Sea of Korea

Pyongyang, November 27 (KCNA) -- The true colors of the arch criminal who orchestrated the recent military clash is being brought into bolder relief with the passage of time. No sooner had the Yonphyong incident occurred than the U.S. announced that it would stage joint naval exercises with the south Korean puppet forces with nuclear-powered carrier George Washington involved in the West Sea of Korea as if it had been waiting for it to happen before immediately sending the carrier to the sea. This clearly indicates that the U.S. was the arch criminal who deliberately planned the incident and wire-pulled it behind the scene. By orchestrating the "Cheonan" warship case the U.S. realized almost all what it had planned. It could maintain its military base in Okinawa though it had been pressurized to transfer it from there and massively beef up its forces in the areas around the Korean Peninsula. What is left unfulfilled is the plan to bring the above-said nuclear carrier to the West Sea of Korea. The U.S. instigated the south Korean puppet forces to perpetrate an armed provocation against the territorial waters of the DPRK side from Yonphyong Island and was contemplating bringing its nuclear-powered carrier to the West Sea, availing itself of the incident, though it was compelled to cancel its plan to do so three times after its announcement. Right after the occurrence of the military clash, the U.S. spearheaded the racket for "denouncing" the incident in unison as "a unilateral provocation" even before probing the truth about it. This proves that the U.S. had carefully worked out the scenario for the provocation in advance. The DPRK side warned several times against the enemy's plan for shelling in the sensitive areas around Yonphyong Island and sent a telephone notice on the morning of the very day the incident occurred as part of its superhuman efforts to prevent the clash to the last moment, but the south side preempted the firing of shells into the territorial waters of the DPRK side. The enemy side, however, has kept silent about all these facts. Moreover, it is now working hard to dramatize "civilian casualties" as part of its propaganda campaign, creating the impression that the defenceless civilians were exposed to "indiscriminate shelling" all of a sudden from the DPRK side. If that is true, it is very regrettable but the enemy should be held responsible for the incident as it took such inhuman action as creating "a human shield" by deploying civilians around artillery positions and inside military facilities before the launch of the provocation. The fact that there were human casualties inside the military base clearly proves itself the ulterior intention of the enemy. The U.S. regarded the death of innocent civilians as a common practice in the past in a bid to serve its military purposes in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other parts of the world. This inhuman atrocity of the U.S. repeated itself on the Korean Peninsula this time. While the incident occurred, the shells indiscriminately fired by the enemy dropped in the area close to civilian houses far from the artillery positions of the Korean People's Army. All facts go to patently prove that it was attributable to the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK aimed to carry out its Asian strategy for domination that an unstable state of armistice has persisted and the military tension escalated periodically over the last nearly six decades. The U.S. has so far obstructed the solution of any issues related to peace and stability while being keen only to keep the military tension on the Korean Peninsula. Peace and stability can never settle on the peninsula but only instability will increase in the region near Korea and the rest of the world unless the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK is brought to an end. The DPRK has so far restrained itself with the maximum patience. But the enemy encroached upon the inviolable territorial waters and land of the DPRK by firing live shells in the most sensitive disputed area despite its repeated warnings. The counter-shelling of the DPRK was a resolute and proper retaliation against the reckless military provocation of the enemy. If the U.S. brings its carrier to the West Sea of Korea at last, no one can predict the ensuing consequences.

Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- As already reported, the south Korean puppet war-like forces Tuesday committed another grave military provocation such as firing shells into the territorial waters of the DPRK side in the West Sea of Korea. The revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK took a prompt and resolute physical counter-action against the provocateurs who dared fire even shells into the territorial waters of the DPRK side while staging the maneuvers for a war of aggression against it codenamed Hoguk. This once again confirmed the unshakable stand of the army of the DPRK not to allow even in the least anyone to encroach upon its inviolable territorial waters. There came from the U.S. forces side a notice blaming the DPRK under the absurd charge that the recent shelling took place in the area under its military control and it was a "violation of the Armistice Agreement." The Panmunjom Mission of the Korean People's Army today sent the following notice to the U.S. forces side in connection with its attempt to misrepresent the incident, while thoughtlessly shielding the south Korean puppet forces who dared make a preempt shelling at the DPRK: The south Korean puppet warmongers' firing of shells into the territorial waters of the DPRK side in the West Sea of Korea on Nov. 23 was a premeditated and deliberate military provocation from A to Z and a war action in fact. On Nov. 22, the south Korean puppet forces made no scruple of announcing that they would fire shells into the territorial waters of the DPRK side with artillery pieces they deployed on Yonphyong Island while staging Hoguk exercises for a war of aggression against the DPRK, straining the situation on the Korean Peninsula. In this connection the DPRK side sent a telephone notice to the south Korean puppet military at 8 a.m. on Nov. 23, strongly urging it to immediately cancel the plan for firing shells into the territorial waters of the DPRK side. In the notice the DPRK side seriously warned that if it paid no heed to this demand, it would face a resolute physical counter-strike and would be held fully responsible for all the ensuing consequences. The south Korean puppet forces, obsessed by hysteria for invasion of the DPRK, committed such reckless military provocation as preempting the firing of shells into the territorial waters of the DPRK side in the West Sea of Korea by mobilizing artillery pieces deployed on Yonphyong Island, defying the repeated efforts made by the DPRK to prevent military conflicts and preserve peace and stability in the said waters. The island, therefore, played the role of an outpost from which a military provocation was perpetrated against the DPRK and it deserved punishment meted out by the army of the DPRK according to its self-defensive measure. The Panmunjom Mission of the KPA in the notice particularly emphasized the fact that the U.S. forces side, too, is to blame for the incident. The West Sea of Korea turned into disputed waters always fraught with the danger of confrontation and clash between the north and the south because of the illegal "northern limit line" unilaterally fixed by the U.S. inside the territorial waters of the DPRK. The U.S., therefore, cannot evade the blame for the recent shelling. If the U.S. forces side truly desires the detente on the Korean Peninsula, it should not thoughtlessly shelter the south Korean puppet forces but strictly control them so that they may not commit any more adventurous military provocations such as intruding into the waters of the DPRK side and shelling for the purpose of defending the illegal "northern limit line". The prevailing situation goes to prove that it is the south Korean puppet forces which actually violated the Armistice Agreement and it was none other than the U.S. which sparked off the conflict in the above-said waters. This being a hard reality, the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces are foolishly contemplating an additional provocation aimed to orchestrate another farce and charade such as the "Cheonan" case while kicking up rows and holding confabs one after another such as the declaration of a "state of emergency" and "a meeting of ministers in charge of security," far from drawing due lesson from the recent shelling. The Korean People's Army will deal without hesitation the second and third strong physical retaliatory blow if the south Korean puppet warmongers commit another reckless military provocation out of all reason. Pyongyang, November 24 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the DPRK Foreign Ministry Wednesday issued the following statement: As already reported by the Supreme Command of the KPA, the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK on Nov. 23 took a decisive self-defensive measure to cope with the enemy's reckless military provocation of firing shells inside the territorial waters of the DPRK side around Yonphyong Islet in the West Sea of Korea. The army of the DPRK warned several times that if even a single shell of the enemy is fired inside the territorial waters of the DPRK, it will take a prompt retaliatory strike in connection with the live shell firing drill they planned to stage from Yonphyong Islet while conducting the ill-famed war maneuvers for a war of aggression against the DPRK codenamed Hoguk. At 8:00 a.m. on Nov. 23, the very day the incident occurred, the head of the delegation of the DPRK side to the inter-Korean military talks sent a telephone message to the head of the delegation of the enemy side once again strongly urging it to cancel the plan for staging the above-said firing drill in the waters around the islet, the sensitive waters. This notwithstanding, the enemy committed such an extremely reckless military provocation as firing dozens of shells from the islet inside the territorial waters of the DPRK side from around 13:00. The enemy fired shells from the islet which is so close to the territory of the DPRK that it is within each other's eyeshot despite the fact that there are so many mountains and rivers, sea waters and islets in south Korea. This powder-reeking saber-rattling cannot be construed otherwise than a politically motivated provocation. The enemy is claiming that they fired shells southward from the islet in a bid not to get on the nerves of the DPRK but Yonphyong Islet is located deep inside the territorial waters of the DPRK away from the maritime military demarcation line. If live shells are fired from the islet, they are bound to drop inside the territorial waters of the DPRK side no matter in which direction they are fired because of such geographical features. The ulterior aim sought by the enemy is to create the impression that the DPRK side recognized the waters off the islet as their "territorial waters", in case that there was no physical counter-action on the part of the former. Herein lies the crafty and vicious nature of the enemy's provocation. The army of the DPRK took such a self-defensive measure as making a prompt powerful strike at the artillery positions from which the enemy fired the shells as it does not make an empty talk. This incident is one more dangerous development which took place because of the illegal "northern limit line" unilaterally fixed by Clark, UN forces commander, as he pleased on Aug. 30, 1953 after the conclusion of the Korean Armistice Agreement. The U.S., its followers and some bosses of international bodies should drop such bad habit as thoughtlessly accusing somebody before learning about the truth about the incident. If they shield south Korea, the criminal, without principle, just for being their ally, this is little short of feeding oil to the fire. The DPRK that sets store by the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula is now exercising superhuman self-control but the artillery pieces of the army of the DPRK, the defender of justice, remain ready to fire.

The UK Korean Friendship Association today issued the following statement.We note with great concern as friends of Korea the serious situation that has arisen as a result of the south Korean puppet provocation yesterday 23rd of November.

The grave situaton is entirely due to the US imperialists and the south Korean puppets.The news agency Reuters has quoted south Korea as saying that it did indeed "test fire" before the Korean Peoples Army of the DPRK launched a retaliatory artillery barrage,this is an admission of provocation.Any firing in a disputed area at a time of high tension will invietably be treated as hostile and due countermeasures taken.

The DPRK does not recognise the so called northern limit arbitarily imposed by the US and south Korean side without agreement from the DPRK.The island of Yongphyong is actually inside DPRK territory but south Korea and the US have bases illegally on the island.This is a military base area so it is unlikely that there are civilians there.The "Hoguk" exercise was and is an illegal infringement of the DPRK's sovereignity which the DPRK demanded to be cancelled and our UK KFA also called so be cancelled.The "Hoguk" exercise was the latest in a series of US and south Korean military exercises held in Korea.The KPA had repeatedly warned on many occasions that any provocation
would be met with a powerful counter strike but the south Korean puppets foolishly
chose to ignore such warnings.

The behaviour of the south Korean puppets is like a small child who has been punished hard for misbehaving but instead of accepting admonishment has run home crying to its parents. We support the just and correct action of the DPRK in defence of its independence, sovereignity and socialist system.We also support the statement issued by the KPA Supreme Command. We condemn the media in the UK and US and elsewhere for fanning war hysteria by exaggerating the incident grossly and falsely reporting.

We call upon the US to halt the deployment of the "USS George Washington" and stop the Hoguk exercise NOW! before it is too late.

The above-said military provocation is part of its sinister attempt to defend the brigandish "northern limit line," while frequently infiltrating its naval warships into the territorial waters of the DPRK side under the pretext of "intercepting fishing boats." The revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK standing guard over the inviolable territorial waters of the country took such decisive military step as reacting to the military provocation of the puppet group with a prompt powerful physical strike. It is a traditional mode of counter-action of the army of the DPRK to counter the firing of the provocateurs with merciless strikes. Pyongyang, November 18 (KCNA) -- The Susan-ri House of Class Education has been completed for operation. On display at the house with six rooms, including general review room and semi-panorama room, were more than 500 photographs, at least 100 pieces of relics and others which show up the barbarities committed by the U.S. imperialist aggressors and the class enemies in the period of the Korean War. The house is also made of eight outdoor education spots, including the chestnut storehouse where patriots were massacred and their grave. Its inaugural ceremony was held on Thursday. Present there were Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Yong Chol, first secretary of the C.C., the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, Ri Myong Gil, chairman of the C.C., the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, and others. The U.S. imperialists are becoming evermore undisguised in their war hysteria due to their ever-deepening political and economic crises, the article notes, and goes on: The U.S. ruling quarters seek a way of saving their country from a tight corner and helping monopoly capital meet its avaricious demand in stepping up their moves for aggression and war. At present the U.S. imperialists consider the Korean Peninsula as a main test ground for carrying out their strategy for world domination by force. The UK Korean Friendship Association issued a statement denouncing the holding of the "Hoguk 2010" exercises.

The exercises involve 70,000 troops of the US and south Korean puppet armies.They are in essence a warmed up version of the old Team Spirit exerices which for decades threatened peace on the Korean peninsula and the world.The Hoguk exercises are the latest in a series of anti DPRK war provocation exercises which have been carried out continously this year on the spurious pretext of the so called "Cheonan case".The "Cheonan " case is a false flag conspiracy which proved false by the peace and justice loving peoples of the whole world.

As the content of the exercise involves landing operations this can only be a rehearsal for the advance party of an invasion of the DPRK and attempt at seizing control of the DPRK and stifling people centred Juche Socialism by force of arms.Such an exercise is reckless and foolhardy in the extreme as it could provoke a nuclear armed conflict.

Pyongyang, November 16 (KCNA) -- The south Korean puppet Seoul District Police Agency on Nov. 9 announced misinformation that a former leading member of the Committee for National Reunification of the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils conducted espionage acts at various directives from the north, calling to task the fact that he had legitimately participated in the reunification functions and working contacts of youth and students from the north and the south from 2003. The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea in its information bulletin No. 967 on Tuesday denounced it as an unpardonable anti-reunification and treacherous crime intended to foster the fascist terror-ridden situation under the pretext of security in south Korea in a bid to calm down the ever-mounting desire of the people of different circles for reconciliation and cooperation between the north and the south and independent reunification and escalate confrontation between compatriots. The information bulletin says: The anti-reunification ultra-right conservatives of south Korea are now distorting the past discussions and contacts for reunification between the youth and students from the north and the south as a "lever for receiving directives" from someone and making a false report that "all kinds of data related to the student movement were delivered to the north." This goes to prove again that they are persistently seeking to obliterate the reunification movement of youth and students in south Korea. It is also little different of an open declaration that in order to attain its ulterior political aims the puppet group will brand as spies all of those who visited the north and met compatriots there in the past years and incriminate their activities as "illegal" and "enemy-benefiting" to make them target of fascist suppression. Worse still, such conspiratorial farce called the spying case was orchestrated again some days before an international meeting in south Korea. This more clearly revealed that the south Korean ruling conservative forces have no willingness to have dialogue and improve the relations between the north and the south but intend to stir up the international anti-DPRK opinion and confront with the DPRK to the last. Neither national reconciliation and unity nor democratization of society and the independent reunification of the country can be expected unless the anti-DPRK smear campaign is decisively checked and the fascist repressive moves terminated immediately in south Korea. -0-

Pyongyang, November 15 (KCNA) --Hoeryong City in the northern border area of Korea is well furnished with public catering establishments. In a year or little more, 18 catering establishments have been newly built or rebuilt in the city. Lots of restaurants, including rabbit meat, maize food and soft drink houses, have appeared on both sides of a street, and Hoeryong Restaurant and a food factory have also been built in the city. On November 24 1996, 14 years ago, leader Kim Jong Il visited Panmunjeom, the historical land.

Panmunjeom is a small village in the southernmost of Gaesong, the southern demarcation city in the DPRK.

It is since July 1953 when the US that provoked the Korean War admitted its defeat in the war and signed on the capitulation there for the first time in history that Panmunjeom got known worldwide.

Still now there are the hall where the truce was signed and other buildings of that time as they were.

After the ceasefire Panmunjeom has been called a symbol of division and a symbol of reunification as well. Because various reunification events and inter-Korean talks took place there and the visits and exchange were realized via Panmunjeom.

Student Rim Su-gyung who visited Pyongyang as a delegate of the National Council of Student Representatives of south Korea to participate in the 13^th World Festival of Youth and Students held in 1989, and Rev. Han Sang-ryul who visited the north on the occasion of the 10^th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration in 2010 and other pro-reunification patriotic figures of south Korea returned home through Panmunjeom and in October 2000 the unconverted long-term prisoners returned the north through there.

Panmunjeom is a symbol of confrontation as well.

There the KPA on the north and the US and south Korean puppet troops in the south are acutely standing face to face within a few meters leveling guns at each other.

An unforeseen accident or provocation there can readily lead to a war. The “Panmunjeom Incident” provoked by the US army in August 1976 which the world had great concern, drove the situation of the Korean Peninsula to a brink of war in a moment.

Leader Kim Jong Il visited several times Panmunjeom located at the farthest forefront fraught with extreme dangers. It is for the position and role taken by Panmunjeom are so significant in view of political, military and inter-Korean relations.

Therefore the leader who regards the national reunification as his lifelong task has been always haunted by the thought of Panmunjeom and saw to it that the monument to the autography of President Kim Il Sung was erected there to praise his reunification leadership exploits for long.

On the historical day of his visit to there the leader recollected with deep emotion the President’s life devoted to the reunification and said that the President’s life was a struggle for the national reunification. And he stressed that the three principles for national reunification, the 10-point program for the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo are the three mainstays and charters for the reunification.

President Kim Il Sung said that the greatest gift for the Korean people he could give was the country’s reunification, he noted and determinedly declared that he would reunify the country true to the President’s behest and give the reunified country to the people as a gift.

The declaration of the leader who visited Panmunjeom again with the determination to break down for good the military demarcation line dividing the country into two reverberated throughout the three thousand-ri land and excited all the Koreans with great passion and delight.

Thanks to the energetic leadership of the leader who cherishes the nation’s desire for reunification and devotes his all to its realization, two rounds of the historic Pyongyang summit meetings were arranged and the June 15 joint declaration, a grand program of independent national reunification, and its action program, the October 4 declaration, were adopted and a new era of independent reunification for putting an end to the tragedy of national division was opened up.

Over the recent years the imperialists and reactionaries have been resorting to every scheme possible to stifle our country, which is advancing invariably holding the banner of socialism under the leadership of the Party and the leader. The more desperate the enemy is in his attempt, the higher we must hold the banner, crushing the enemy’s counterrevolutionary offensive by means of revolutionary offensive.

Although the imperialists and reactionaries are making desperate attempts to obliterate socialism on the earth, socialism is cherished as deep as ever in the hearts of the revolutionary people all over the world and is advancing on its track. Socialism is the ideal of humanity and that socialism achieves victory is a law of the development of history. No matter how desperately they attempt to stamp out socialism, the imperialists and reactionaries cannot reverse the tide of history. Today the revolutionary people of the world, under the banner of the Pyongyang Declaration, are fighting resolutely to defend and advance the cause of socialism. The struggle for socialism is being waged not only in those countries where socialism has collapsed but in the capitalist countries. It is doubtless that the manoeuvring of the imperialists and reactionaries will be frustrated and socialism will make an uninterrupted advance and emerge victorious in the long run by the struggle of the revolutionary parties and people of the world.

With an unshakable faith in the victory of socialism, we must approach the present situation on an optimistic point of view and staunchly defend the cause of socialism.

Socialism is the life of our people. Whether our people remain alive or die, i.e., whether they lead an independent and creative life as masters of the state and society or become the slave of others, getting maltreatment and contempt, depends on whether they defend socialism or not. As the song goes, socialism defended means victory and socialism abandoned means death. Whatever the difficulties and trials, we must never abandon the socialism we chose and are building by our efforts.

In order to defend and advance the cause of socialism, we must apply the Juche idea in all fields of revolution and construction in a thoroughgoing way.

The Juche idea is the ideological foundation of socialism and the only guiding ideology of revolution and construction. Our style of socialism centred on the masses is based on the Juche idea and embodies this idea; it is Juche-orientated socialism. Socialism devoid of ideological foundation and perfect guiding ideology cannot be called genuine socialism and it might be frustrated, unable to check the anti-socialist schemes of the imperialists and reactionaries. This is shown graphically by the lesson of those countries where socialism was frustrated and capitalism has been restored. Our socialism is advancing victoriously unperturbed amidst the continuing vicious moves of the imperialists and reactionaries just because it is based on the Juche idea and guided by this idea. While socialism is the life of our people, the Juche idea is the life of our socialism.

We must staunchly defend the Juche idea from the infiltration of the bourgeois reactionary ideological trend of all hues, steadily develop it and apply it in a thoroughgoing way in all fields of revolution and construction.

The course of building socialism is the course of applying the Juche idea and socialist and communist societies are those modelled on that idea.

The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung authored the idea in his early years and has applied it in all fields of revolution and construction with all consistency. He leads revolution and construction and lives his life in our own way. The anecdote concerning the colour of suiting illustrates graphically how firm his Juche-orientated stand is. Once our officials suggested to him that he have his suit made of the material of a certain colour, saying that suits made of such material were now in fashion. He told them fashion should follow him, not the other way round.

We must cherish the Juche idea as our faith and apply it in all sectors of revolution and construction thoroughly so as to add further lustre to our style of socialism centred on the masses, the Juche-orientated socialism.

In order to defend socialism and exalt its brilliance, we must further consolidate the single-hearted unity of the leader, the Party and the masses.

The leader, the Party and the masses form a body in which they share their destiny. Their firm unity based on ideology, will, morality and obligation is a guarantee for the invincibility of the cause of socialism. We must rally all people around the Party and the leader more firmly, thus incessantly consolidating the might of the single-hearted unity.

In defending socialism in the present times it is of great importance to check the abuses of every description the imperialists and bourgeois restorationists are levelling against socialism and bring the righteousness and advantages of the socialist cause home to Party members and other working people.

The imperialists and those who have restored bourgeois society are abusing socialism, calling it "totalitarian", "barracks-like" and "administrative-commanding". This is illogical, reactionary sophistry devoid of theoretical foundation. What are the bourgeois restorationists themselves doing now, those who are abusing socialism? They have disbanded communist parties and force everything on the lower echelons by invoking presidential decrees.

They are slinging mud at socialism and if we fail to lay bare the reactionary nature of their "theory", some people not prepared ideologically might become sceptical of socialism. We must disclose the reactionary nature of their "theory" and equip Party members and other working people with the socialist ideology.

I am going to write and make public in the near future a treatise criticizing their abuses of socialism. The sector of theoretical information, too, must produce many articles that lay bare the reactionary nature of the theory of the imperialists and bourgeois restorationists against socialism and explain the truthfulness and advantages of the socialist ideology and theory. Our Party expounded all theoretical problems arising in the practice of the socialist revolution and socialist construction including the problem of the three revolutions--ideological, technological and cultural--the problem of achieving oneness of mind of the leader, the Party and the masses; also the problem of properly combining centralism and democracy and strengthening the people's democratic dictatorship. When we reveal the reactionary nature of the abuses of socialism hurled by the imperialists and bourgeois restorationists as we stand on the ideas and theories our Party put forward for the socialist revolution and socialist construction, we will be able to greatly encourage the people who are making an effort to check the imperialists' and reactionaries' machinations and defend socialism.

We must also write articles on the limitations of the theories authored by the earlier writers of classics so as to give our Party members and other working people a correct understanding of the originality and superiority of the socialist ideology and theory of our Party.

Marxism-Leninism is a revolutionary ideology created reflecting the requirements of the revolutionary practice of the working class in the days of pre-monopoly capitalism and imperialism. History has advanced far and the times have changed since then. We are now in a new era of independence, when the popular masses, as the masters of history and their own destiny, carve out history and their destiny independently and creatively. The authors of Marxism had no experience of building socialism, and it is the same with Lenin. Owing to the limitations of the conditions of their times and their practical experiences the socialist theories put forward by the authors of Marxism-Leninism could not go, in some cases, beyond the limit of prediction and supposition.

For all their limitations, we must not take a nihilistic approach to Marxism-Leninism or cavil at their authors. We must recognize the exploits Marx, Engels and Lenin performed for mankind and respect them. Thanks to the creation of Marxism-Leninism, the socialist theory developed from fantasy to science; the working class was able to have a guiding ideology for the first time in history and they could struggle vigorously against capital and for class emancipation, national liberation and socialism. Respecting the authors of the theories is an obligation on us in view of the principle of the juniors of the revolution respecting their seniors.

When writing articles about the limitations of Marxism-Leninism we must not fail to explain the exploits their creators accomplished. Only then can we give a correct understanding of Marxism-Leninism to the people and deal a blow to the imperialists and bourgeois restorationists who are caviling at this ideology.

In order to correctly write about the limitations of the theories expounded by Marxism-Leninism, one must have a good knowledge of the originality and superiority of the revolutionary ideology of our Party, the Juche idea. The Juche idea is an original idea and perfect revolutionary theory of communism the great leader created reflecting the requirements of the new era of history, the era of independence. If we clarify the originality and superiority of the Juche idea effectively, then the limitations of the theories of Marxism-Leninism will be revealed on its own accord.

The officials in the field of theoretical information should study the Juche idea hard and learn in depth its originality and superiority. They should also study classical works like The Capital to become well-informed of Marxism-Leninism.

Songs of high ideological and artistic qualities should be created in a large number. Such songs instil faith in the cause of socialism and strong will in the hearts of the people encouraging them to greater efforts. Don't Advance, Night of Pyongyang is one of these songs. This song will encourage the soldiers of the Korean People's Army and our people even in days of war. I still feel strength welling up whenever I listen to the song. A man must know how to appreciate the songs. There cannot be life divorced from song. In the days of war not only songs but also broadcasting encourage the soldiers and people. During the Second World War Yuri Levitan, an announcer of the Soviet Union, broadcast the reports of the Supreme Headquarters, rousing the Soviet soldiers and people to victory in the war. He became famous for his broadcasting. Furious, Hitler ordered that Levitan should be the first to be killed after the occupation of Moscow. Our announcers, too, do their job efficiently. They will do their share as they should in time of war.

These days the sector of the art of music has produced many songs of high ideological and artistic qualities. Don't Advance, Night of Pyongyang is an excellent song for its high ideological and artistic qualities. So is If Our Mother Party Wishes. The text of the latter song is written well.

In future the musical art sector must create many songs which become a national treasure with high ideological and artistic qualities. Songs of this kind are not something special. They are those the leader and the people enjoy singing. Except for the Pochonbo Electronic Ensemble, the artistic organizations now fail to produce such songs in a great number. These organizations must produce many songs of national treasure with material based on life. In order to create these songs, one must make it a habit to produce them to be pleasant with the materials derived from life. One cannot produce excellent songs if one proceeds from a subjective desire to create songs of national treasure. If songs describe life and people enjoy singing them, they become national treasures. To achieve this, creative workers must absorb themselves in the lives of people and get themselves fully acquainted with the people's aspiration and demands.

Songs must be portrayed well. If a song is not portrayed well, it cannot prove its worth no matter how excellent it is.

Pyongyang, November 6 (KCNA) -- Vice Marshal of the Korean People's Army Jo Myong Rok, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, first vice-chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and deputy to the Supreme People's Assembly, died of an inveterate heart disease at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 6, Juche 99 (2010) at the age of 82 to our sorrow. Born into a poor peasant's family in Yonsa County, North Hamgyong Province on July 12, Juche 17 (1928) Jo Myong Rok was a revolutionary comrade loyal to General Secretary Kim Jong Il and a prominent activist of the WPK, the state and the army of the DPRK who devoted his whole life to the sacred struggle for the freedom and independence of the country and the victory of the cause of socialism. He grew up to be an able military and political official under the care of the party and the leader after the country's liberation. He worked for years at important posts of the party, the state and the army. In the period of the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War against the U.S. imperialists' armed invasion he bravely fought as a pilot of the KPA for the victory in the war. He worked hard for the development of the air force, holding posts of squadron commander, group commander and divisional commander of an air unit and the chief of the staff and commander of the air force of the KPA in the post-war period. Holding important posts as the director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA from October, Juche 84 (1995) and first vice- chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission from September, Juche 87 (1998), he energetically worked to thoroughly implement the Juche-oriented military line of the WPK and firmly guarantee the building of a thriving nation and the victory of the revolutionary cause of Juche with matchless military power. He was elected alternate member of the C.C., the WPK in November, Juche 64 (1975), member of the C.C., the WPK and member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK in October, Juche 69 (1980) and member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK in September, Juche 99 (2010) and worked as a deputy to the Supreme People's Assembly from the sixth Supreme People's Assembly held in November, Juche 66 (1977). He was awarded Order of Kim Il Sung, the highest order of the DPRK, the titles of Hero of the DPRK and Labour Hero and many other orders and medals including Order of National Flag First Class and Order of Freedom and Independence First Class for the distinguished feats he performed for the party and the revolution, the country and its people. He received the title of vice marshal of the KPA in October, Juche 84 (1995). An obituary of Jo Myong Rok was jointly issued by the C.C., the WPK, the Central Military Commission of the WPK, the DPRK National Defence Commission and the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly on Saturday. The obituary said that his death is a great loss to the party, the army and people of the DPRK waging a dynamic struggle to win the victory of the cause of building a thriving socialist nation and bring earlier the independent reunification of the country. Though he passed away, the exploits he performed for the party and the revolution, the country and its people will shine long along with the victorious advance of the revolutionary cause of Juche, it stressed. On the same day, the C.C., the WPK, the Central Military Commission of the WPK, the DPRK National Defence Commission and the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly announced that the late Jo Myong Rok would be accorded a state funeral and formed a state funeral committee with Kim Jong Il as its chairman and Kim Jong Un and 169 others as its members. The state funeral committee informed the public that the bier of the deceased would be placed in the Central Hall of Workers, it would receive mourners from 10:00 on Nov. 8 to 18:00 on Nov. 9 and the hearse would leave the hall at 9 a.m. on Nov. 10.

It has also strictly observed the technical rules and standard regulations in washing, cutting, saucing and all other processes to improve the quality of the products. The Jongbangsan Combined Foodstuff Factory has produced large quantities of nutritive and tasty things such as gingko leave tea, barley tea, cookie, bread, noodle and millet jelly. The factory is now updating the packing material production process. The Chongbong Combined Foodstuff Factory produces pickles with such edible herbs as Aster scaber, Ligularia fischeri and Codonopsis lanceolata. KCNA Refutes Groundless Accusations against DPRK over Its "Human Rights Issue"

Pyongyang, November 2 (KCNA) -- Hostile forces including the United States and Japan made malignant accusations against the DPRK over its "human rights issue" at the meeting of the Third Committee of the 65th session of the UN General Assembly. Those forces hostile to the DPRK made no scruple of pressurizing the DPRK to recognize the "special rapporteur" in charge of human rights situation in the country and cooperate in his trip to Pyongyang etc., ballyhooing in chorus about what they called its "institutional human rights abuses." This is touching off hatred among the Korean people as it was nothing but sinister intentions of the hostile forces to create an atmosphere of putting pressure on the DPRK under the signboard of "protection of human rights" by abusing such institutional lever as the UN General Assembly. As already known, the DPRK had already clarified its stand toward the issue of keeping "the special rapporteur" and has never recognized his existence as his job is to infringe upon its sovereignty and dignity. We would like to remind that the international community newly created the UN Human Rights Council in 2006 after disorganizing the UN Human Rights Commission to put an end to the U.S. ceaseless arbitrary practices on the international arena of human rights. But since the U.S. made its way to the UN Human Rights Council it has persistently protected and defended the human rights abuses of such countries as Israel and violated the sovereignty of the anti-U.S. independent states including the DPRK. Keeping the "special rapporteur", in particular, the U.S. made him play the role of a servant for it in a bid to use him for politicizing human rights issues and applying selectivity and double standards to dealing with them. Therefore, the DPRK does not recognize the ghost-like "special rapporteur", a leftover of the defunct UN Human Rights Commission. It is unreasonable in every respect for the Western hostile forces led by the U.S. to pressurize the DPRK to recognize the above-said post as it is part of their sinister moves against the DPRK. It is an unpardonable infringement upon the DPRK, an independent sovereign state, to wantonly interfere in its internal affairs under the pretext of "human rights issue". Denying people's right to choose their system is the most vivid expression of human rights abuses. The despicable plot to bring down the socio-political system in the DPRK under the pretext of human rights issue is a typical example of politicizing the human right issue and applying selectivity and double standards. As far as human rights issues are concerned, only those countries incurring the displeasure of the U.S. are made targets of accusation quite contrary to the principles of impartiality and objectivity. When dealing with human rights issues, accusing fingers should be directed, first of all, to the U.S., the world's worst human rights abuser, which has not hesitated to commit even terrorism against sovereign states and Japan which has refused to make apology and reparation for its past hideous human rights abuses. Great irony is that these countries accustomed to pulling up others, keeping mum about their own human rights abuses, are busy blaming someone for its alleged human rights issue. The people are fully guaranteed a worthwhile life and independent rights in the Korean-style socialist society centered on the popular masses. No one is allowed to force criticism and accusation against the social system in the DPRK chosen by its people themselves and upheld by them. Foreign hostile forces' noisier "human rights" racket would only reinforce the Korean people's faith and will to defend socialism. Those who have already lost their moral and legal rights to talk about human rights had better mind their own business before accusing others. -0-
