20-Day Industrial Output Value Shows 1.2 Times Increase in DPRK

This is the result of the high-pitched drive waged by all the workers of the country since the first day of this year after receiving with excitement the joint calls of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea, the joint New Year editorial for this year and the letter of the working people in South Hamgyong Province.

In the period, the Ministry of Light Industry increased the production 1.4 times and the Ministry of Food and Daily Necessities sharply boosted the production.

GIs in south Korea Branded as Drug Peddler

Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- It has been recently disclosed that a GI smuggled a large amount of drug into south Korea.

This person serving at a U.S. army unit in Songnam city, Kyonggi Province, secretly introduced a large amount of drug by means of international mail.

Detected in his lodging was material believed to be identical to drug.

The fact goes to more clearly prove that GIs are the root cause of drug-related crimes recently rampant in south Korea.

For instance, more than 10 drug-related cases were reported from among GIs present in south Korea from January to August 1999.

Later, an officer of the U.S. imperialist 7th Air Force was unearthed while smuggling a large amount of cocaine and family members of GIs were hell-bent on drug smuggling.

Choongang Ilbo on Thursday reported two pieces of news aimed at China. One is that China is making preparations to build a nuclear power plant in the Rason Economic Trade Zone of the DPRK. The other is that China may offer an aid of food amounting to hundreds of thousands of tons to keep stability in the DPRK.

Yonhap News on Thursday continued to slander the DPRK. It reported that the DPRK is now suffering from "shortage of power and drinking water" and the price of goods is "skyrocketing" there. -0-

Jang Il Guk: KBS is misleading public opinion in favor of the south Korean regime, but nobody will be deceived by its misinformation.

Our servicepersons, with defending the headquarters of the revolution as their main mission, are determined to smash KBS taking the lead in the anti-DPRK campaign.

Anyone who dares slander the supreme leadership of the DPRK will be a target of our revolutionary forces, wherever they are.

He went the lengths of crying out for "taking strong posture for counter-action to deter the north from provocation."

This is an unpardonable insult to the mourners in the north still in unbearable sorrow and grief over the loss of the great father of the nation and an act adding to his crimes.

As far as "bellicose nature of the north" touted by Lee Myung Bak is concerned, it is an eruption of anger of the service personnel and people of the DPRK at the worst confrontation and war monger who drove the situation of the Korean Peninsula to the brink of war by insulting the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK during the mourning period of the nation.

Pyongyang, January 12 (KCNA) -- The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea issued a white paper Thursday to inform the world of the crimes the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors committed last year by pushing the inter-Korean relations to the lowest ebb out of its hideous crimes perpetrated over the last four years since its seizure of power.
According to it, the group totally denied the DPRK's proposal for inter-Korean dialogue.
On Jan. 5 last year the government, political parties and organizations of the DPRK in a joint statement proposed to the south Korean authorities, political parties and organizations to hold wide-ranging dialogue and negotiations.
The puppet authorities, however, groundlessly spoke ill of the DPRK's proposal for dialogue from the outset, saying "there is no sincerity in it and it is no more than tactics of the united front."
Moreover, they flatly turned down the proposal for dialogue by putting up the "dismantlement of nuclear program" and solution to the "Cheonan" warship case and the Yonphyong issue and other unreasonable issues as preconditions.
They went the lengths of turning their faces away from dialogue, impudently decrying even the authority of their dialogue partner.
After being compelled to appear at the preliminary military talks, they persistently insisted on the solution to the warship sinking case and Yonphyong Island incident, deliberately creating complexity. They did not hesitate to commit such reckless act as unilaterally walking out of the venue of the talks.
The Lee group derailed not only Red Cross talks and contacts between the north and the south for solving humanitarian issues but NGO dialogue.
As a result, all cooperation projects between the north and the south were suspended, leaving many non-governmental businesses in south Korea bankrupt or forcing them to stop their operations. The south Koreans who eked out their living through cooperation projects were put on the crossroads of life and death.
The Lee group made abortive the joint national events slated to take place on the anniversaries of the publication of the historic inter-Korean declarations.
It prevented the Council for the Solution of the Issue of the Volunteers Corps from having communication with the north for discussing a joint declaration of women's organizations in the north and the south to be made public on the anniversary of the March First Popular Uprising. It also disallowed the visit of those concerned of the south side funeral committee to Kaesong to receive a message of condolence sent by the DPRK side on the death of Pak Yong Gil, widow of Rev. Mun Ik Hwan.
The crimes of Lee group are proved by the heinous moves to escalate confrontation with fellow countrymen and anti-DPRK smear campaign.
Last year alone, Lee visited the U.S. several times to beg for support to his confrontation policy and openly let loose such reckless remarks that his north policy would remain unchanged despite domestic and foreign criticism.
The group imposed a heavy penalty upon Rev. Han Sang Ryol on charge of violation of the "National Security Law" after keeping him behind bars for more than a year and suppressed the Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration and other organizations in south Korea after labeling them as "enemy benefiting organizations".
The group of traitors disconnected more than 90 internet websites branding them as "pro-north ones" and deleted at least 80 000 notices and arrested all those concerned last year.
They kicked off anti-DPRK plots ceaselessly including spy-ring case and incident of assassination group, infusing confrontation atmosphere.
The Lee group's confrontation moves were at maximum late in December last year when the nation suffered the greatest loss.
No sooner had the sad news of the great loss to the nation been released than the group of puppets convened a "state security meeting" and "emergency state affairs meeting" and put Chongwadae and Administration, puppet army and police on "emergency alert guard and duty" leveling the gun at the fellow countrymen shedding tears in great grief. They dared foolishly try to break the single-minded unity of the DPRK talking about "taking counteraction by separating inhabitants from their leadership".

There were clear traces proving much effort was made to make the torpedo produced for the second time look similar to the first torpedo opened to media.

The results of the close photographing of the torpedo showed such clumsy work that traces of the work done by a press to make the parts of the controversial torpedo look similar to the old rusted parts in the center of the torpedo were clearly visible.

He consulted the two different torpedoes with lawyers and submitted its results to the court bench as evidence along with convincing opinions on them.

Year of Worsened Social Inequality and Contradictions for Capitalist World

Pyongyang, January 8 (KCNA) -- Last year witnessed worsened social inequality and contradictions in the capitalist world.

An average of 411 500 people were registered as new unemployed in every week of October last year in the U.S.

The U.S. Labor Department quoted a survey as saying the number of jobless people across the country stood at 13.3 million as of early in November.

Japan had 2.92 million unemployed and EU member countries 23.554 million toiling people jobless as of October last year.

The deepening unemployment crisis brought pain and poverty to the majority of toiling masses.

Early in November last year, the Census Bureau of the U.S. announced that the number of the poverty-stricken people reached 49.1 million. The needy people of them were about 20 million.

More than 12.6 million and 8 million people are spending every day in despair and pain below the poverty line in Germany and Italy.

The horrible crimes committed in the capitalist world last year brought deep-rooted social contradictions and antagonism into bolder relief.

The hideous crime that happened in a city of Belgium on December 13 clearly showed the reality of the capitalist world which saw in and out a year amid social evils.

The waves of demonstrations which swept the capitalist countries were an eruption of the people's anger at the worsening social contradictions as evidenced by the jobless rate growing due to the deepening economic crisis and the widening gap between the rich and poor.

The UK Korean Friendship Association together with the ASSPUK and JISGE were shocked to learn very recently that the south Korean fascist puppet regime of Lee Myung Bak has repressed Mr Ri Kyu Jae, the chairman and two other leading members of the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea’s Reunification Pomminryon) . This is an outrageous fascist action.
What is of particular concern is that they were arrested and tried because they had attempted to go to Pyongyang in order to pay respects to the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL who had unexpectedly passed away. To us it seems inconcievable that anyone should not only block people from attending but arrest and legally try them for doing so. The repressive action of the south Korean puppets is worse than that of the British authorities during the northern Ireland troubles, of the Apartheid regime of south Africa, Pinochets Chile etc. It is on par with Hitlers Germany and a crude and cheap imitation of McCarthyism in the US.
This action comes after many arrests of pro reunification patriots and progressives in south Korea and the jaling of the Rev Han Sang Ryol and some long term progressive prisoners remain in south Korea.

S. Korean Puppet Group Urged to Release Unreasonably Detained Pro-Reunification Patriots

Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- The North Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification released a statement on Friday lashing out at the south Korean puppet group for imposing severe penalties on pro-reunification patriots including the chairman of the South Headquarters of the alliance during the mourning period at a court.

It said:

The south Korean authorities on Dec. 22 last year brought to a trial Chairman Ri Kyu Jae and two other leading members of the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon) to impose severe penalties upon them after labeling their activities for implementation of the north-south joint declarations and legitimate contacts with the north as "enemy-benefiting" ones.

The trial ended up putting in custody the chairman and the former secretary-general of the Headquarters.

Upon hearing the sad news of the demise of leader Kim Jong Il which came like a bolt from the blue, the South Headquarters of Pomminryon sent before any others a message expressing deep condolences and elders of the organization formed a mourners' group and set out on a visit to Pyongyang, holding placard "We go to the north to express condolences in spirit of June 15".

When heavily-armed puppet soldiers blocked their way, they offered strong resistance, shouting "We are on way to Pyongyang to mourn the passing of Chairman of the National Defence Commission Kim Jong Il. Step aside".

Such activities of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon were quite natural because they were an eruption of its boundless reverence for the father of the nation who brought about a new phase of independent reunification by providing the historic June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration and a manifestation of its firm will to share sorrow with compatriots.

The North Headquarters of Pomminryon vehemently denounces the puppet group's fascist suppression as an immoral behavior towards the great loss to the nation and the most hideous crimes against ethics and an unpardonable challenge to the Koreans aspiring after reunification, missing the father of the nation very much.

January 6 (KCNA) -- Officials of ministries and national institutions in the DPRK did the first Friday-labor of the year on cooperative farm fields.

Officials from the Ministry of Mining Industry, the Ministry of Light Industry and other units carried much quality manure on trucks to the Wonro Vegetable Farm in Mangyongdae District.

They did carrying and spreading of manure with agricultural workers.

Officials of the Cabinet Secretariat, Ministry of Foreign Trade, General Bureau for Service for People and other ministries and national institutions did work on the Rihyon Vegetable Co-op Farm in Sadong District. While working they recalled the devoted efforts made by leader Kim Jong Il who had ceaselessly walked rough fields to provide the people with more affluent life.

Officials of the State Planning Commission, Ministry of Land and Marine Transport, Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, Ministry of Finance and Daesong Bank did work on the Namsa Vegetable Co-op Farm in Raknang District. S. Korean Authorities′ Crimes against Ethics and Treachery under Fire

yongyang, January 4 (KCNA) -- The Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea released a detailed report on Wednesday indicting the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors for its unprecedented brutal acts during the mourning over the great loss to the nation.

According to the report, no sooner had the important report of the DPRK on the demise of leader Kim Jong Il been released than traitor Lee Myung Bak convened a "state security meeting and "state council meeting" at which he issued an emergency alert posture to the puppet army and police and ordered them to keep themselves ready to go into military actions any time, vociferating about "the north's possible provocation" and "danger to the stability on the Korean Peninsula."

Lee ordered Chongwadae, administration, agencies and even overseas missions to work on round-the-clock emergency duty. He phoned his masters the U.S. and Japan, begging them for cooperation in the confrontation with the DPRK.

By his order, the puppet military instructed the whole puppet army to be on "alert posture b" to keep itself ready for war from half past twelve on Dec. 19. Chongwadae, administration and agencies were also put on emergency alert posture from the afternoon on the same day.

From the outset, the group of traitors totally disallowed not only condolatory visits but also expression of condolences, talking about "division of public opinion", "infringement upon principle" and "conflict inside the south."

It claimed official mourning can never be allowed, talking about "counter-action by separating people from the north's leadership" and hurting the supreme leadership of the DPRK by preposterously shifting on it the "final responsibility" for the warship "Cheonan" sinking and shelling on Yonphyong Island. While claiming that it expresses "sympathy" to the people in the north, far from mourning or expressing condolences, the group blustered "sympathy with them does not mean the expression of condolences" in a bid to downplay even the meaning of sympathy.

And the group described the "government's" statement as a very strategically and technically worked out one.

It went the lengths of blustering that "the north would not have imagined the south had gone to such pass".

While insisting that there can be no mourning, the group put up conditionalities that there should be invitation from the north if the parties of Ri Hui Ho and Hyon Jong Un wish to go to Pyongyang, the condolatory visit should be paid in a single day, they should come back as they are not allowed to attend the ceremony of bidding last farewell to the deceased. This was, in fact, an attempt to block the mourners' visit.

The group flatly turned down the request of the bereaved families of Rev. Mun Ik Hwan to allow their mourning. It rudely refused to allow the condolatory visits by the widow of former south Korean President Roh Moo Hyun and personages who came to Pyongyang when the October 4 declaration was adopted.

South Koreans of various circles were very sincere in their will to express condolences and pay condolatory visits over the great loss to the nation, but the Lee group brutally blocked them.

When south Koreans of various circles intended to send condolence messages, the puppet group invented complicated procedures and pretexts such as "applications for contact with inhabitants in the north," throwing obstacles and snatching all of them before they reached the north. It deleted all the expressions that courted its displeasure like the words "demise," "sorrow" and "condolences."

When various circles of south Korea expressed their intentions to dispatch mourners groups, the puppet group persistently blocked their condolatory visits, asserting "those visits may cause the worst division of public opinion and internal chaos" and "If mourners visits were allowed, it would be impossible to put the situation under control as an increasing number of them might throng to the north."

It prevented the personnel of its side in the Kaesong Industrial Zone from entering the mourning station in the zone, threatening them not to express condolences.

A particular mention should be made of the fact that the group scattered anti-DPRK leaflets, timed to coincide with the day of bidding last farewell to the leader when the earth and sky shook with fellow compatriots' bitter cries and the whole country turned into a veritable sea of wailers, rubbing salt into the wounds of the grief-stricken people.

The report labeled Lee the worst type anti-reunification element, traitor and pro-U.S. fascist maniac and chieftain of evils without an equal in the world.

The service personnel and people of the DPRK will surely force the puppet group to pay a thousand-fold price for hurting the most sacred dignity of the supreme leadership, the report noted, adding that it will keenly experience what dear price it will have to pay for its crimes. -0-

The DPRK has enforced the popular policies of looking after the helpless old men, the handicapped and children in a responsible manner.

The schools for the bereaved children of the revolutionary martyrs including the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School were opened after Korea’s liberation from Japanese military occupation and the state took the whole responsibility for the upbringing of them. It brought up the war orphans in the past Korean War.

The DPRK looks after the helpless old men and the handicapped in an asylum for the aged and resort house without cost.

They are admitted to the asylum for the aged and resort houses, resuscitate their working ability or promote their health and the state entirely looks after their life.

The social care system has been branded "not fit for purpose" after figures revealed elderly people are paying up to £7,000 a year for home care services.

David Rogers, a councillor and chairman of the Local Government Association's community wellbeing board, accused the government of underfunding local authorities, leaving councils with "tough decisions" over the services they can provide.

Statistics released by the Labour party showed marked rises in the cost of council services for elderly and disabled people over the past year.

Analysis of data from 93 out of the 153 councils in England showed there has been a 13% rise in the cost of meals on wheels, with the average price of a meal rising from £3.17 to £3.44.

There has also been a 33% increase in transport fees, with the average cost of travel to places such as daycare centres now standing at £2.32 per journey.

Labour said the data also revealed a "postcode lottery" in the amount people pay for social care, with huge disparities across the country.

People living in the London borough of Tower Hamlets pay nothing for personal care, while those in Cheshire East are charged more than £20 an hour, for example.

Rogers said: "These results highlight what we already know: the current social care system is not fit for purpose. It is underfunded and in need of urgent reform.

"We all want to know that everything possible is being done to ensure our elderly friends and relatives are treated with the dignity and respect they rightly deserve and councils are committed to doing the very best for people in later life.

"But councils are facing the long-term triple pressures of insufficient funding, growing demand and escalating costs and despite their best efforts, they are having to make tough decisions about the care services they can provide."

The data, obtained under the Freedom of Information law, showed elderly and disabled people are being charged an average of £13.49 per hour for home care – a rise of 6% in two years.

This means someone who does not receive state help and gets 10 hours of support a week pays around £7,015 per year.

UK KFA support the joint editorial of the DPRK press , as we believe that it fully ensure the continuity of leadership and ideology that is vital to maintain unity and stablity during this trying period in which the Korean people have suffered their greatest ever loss of the present century, the passing away of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il, and face renewed threat from the US and other imperialist powers who will try to destablise the DPRK the DPRK in order to destroy the socialist system of the DPRK . The DPRK stands proud as one of the last remaining bastions of real socialism on the planet and also probably the only country free from globalisation and the suppression of independence by the so-called New World Order of imperialism. The editorial stresses the need for single minded unity to be maintained and made stronger.

Last year the Korean people suffered the greatest ever loss of the 21st century in the form of the passing away of the brilliant commander of Songun the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il, great guide, teacher and father of Songun Korea. It was a long-standing tradition of our people to extend best wishes for good health to the great leader Kim Jong Il on every New Year's Day and set out on the advance of that year. His august name and benevolent image were a banner of victory that instilled in our people confidence in sure victory and will to achieve it and a source of their mental strength. Now our service personnel and people, turning the great sorrow into one-thousand-fold strength and courage, are embarking on a grand march towards the goal of achieving prosperity in the new century of the Juche era, following the leadership of their supreme leader Kim Jong Un. That we parted too suddenly and unexpectedly with the great leader Kim Jong Il last year was the greatest loss our nation had suffered in its 5 000-year-long history and the bitterest grief our Party and people had experienced. The problem of raw and other materials necessary for this sector should be solved by relying on domestic resources, and the relentless drive be continued to develop the local industry. At present, the food problem is a burning issue in building a thriving country. Today Party organizations' militant efficiency and officials' loyalty to the revolution will be verified in solving this problem. They should implement to the letter the Party's policy of agricultural revolution so as to radically increase the per-unit area yield of grain both in lowlands and highlands. It is important to achieve cyclic production between farming and stockbreeding, introduce the organic farming method of our style in a proactive manner and take timely measures to satisfy the demand for farming materials and machinery needed to hit the target for agricultural production. They should ensure that the modern bases for stockbreeding and poultry farming and large-size fruit and fish farms, all having an important share in the improvement of people's living standards, run at full capacity. The vanguard sectors of the national economy, the sectors of basic industries, are charged with making breakthroughs in the grand onward march for the next 100 years following the flames of Hamnam. We should solve the problem of power shortage at all costs and on a priority basis. The sector of education should ensure a high level of its contents and form, conditions and environment, as required by the era of knowledge-based economy. The sector of literature and the arts should thoroughly implement the Party's policy of conducting creation, editing and representation in our own way, and produce a larger number of masterpieces that are perfect in all respects. Activities of mass-based art lifelike, easy to understand and based on the reality of a great upsurge should be conducted briskly, and the conditions for the youth and other people to lead an affluent cultured and emotional life be better provided. The heated enthusiasm for sports should be encouraged further by enhancing social interest in physical culture and sports and making them part of people's every day life and habit. The work of bringing into full bloom the most excellent culture and ethics of our nation and our way of life should be further intensified. To improve the appearance of Pyongyang is an important project to greet in grand style the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il's earnest behest. We should step up the construction in the Mansudae area and other major projects under construction on the highest level and effect a radical turn in urban management and landscaping, thus ushering in a new heyday of Pyongyang in the Songun era. The officers and men of the KPA should cherish an unshakable faith that the great Comrade Kim Jong Il will always be with them and a noble moral obligation to him, and firmly defend his achievements for army-building and add eternal glory to them by force of arms. Under the slogan "Training is also a battle!" the KPA should conduct training in an atmosphere of actual battle as befits the revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu, so as to prepare all the officers and men to be a-match-for-a-hundred combatants who could implement independently and actively the operational combat tasks assigned to them, a death-defying corps for national reunification. They should be fully ready to deal prompt and merciless blows at the enemy and achieve national reunification, if they dare infringe upon our dignity and sovereignty. By pushing ahead with the work of strengthening the command and management of units and creating military ethos, it should thoroughly establish across it steel-strong military discipline, and possess looks required of a regular army and noble moral traits. It should direct constant efforts to the strengthening of companies, thus making them all competent combat ranks and dear homes for rank-and-file soldiers. At present our Party and revolution are in an important, responsible period, when the revolutionary cause of Juche is being carried forward. The present reality demands that the Paektu spirit of march, the spirit of uninterrupted revolution, to carry out the revolution firmly rallied behind Kim Jong Un run through the building and activities of the Party. The key point in our Party work at present and in the future, too, is to thoroughly establish the monolithic leadership system of the Party. Young people should perform feats of labor at all sites of the building of a thriving country, and build many more monumental structures in the Songun era to be named after youth, singing aloud "March of the Korean Youth". The acts contrary to morality and against the nation committed by the group of traitors in south Korea?neglecting the greatest national sorrow and hindering in every possible way the offering of condolence?triggered soaring indignation and denunciation on the part of all compatriots. The ruling forces have become an object of people's stern trial. The developments of last year reaffirmed the truth of history that our nation's will for independent reunification, peace and prosperity can be broken by no force and the anti-reunification forces will surely be defeated. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the publication of the October 4 Declaration, the action programme of the June 15 Joint Declaration. In this meaningful year we must bring about a decisive turn in accomplishing the cause of national reunification as we hold high the slogan "Let all the compatriots open the gates of national reunification full of fresh confidence!" The stand of national independence and putting the nation above anything else should be maintained in a thoroughgoing way. Solving the problems of inter-Korean relations by rejecting aggressive foreign forces and pooling the efforts of our nation itself is the demand of the June 15 reunification era. All the fellow countrymen in the north, south and abroad should open a broad vista for national reunification with the conviction that our nation should be of the first and foremost consideration and that they will have nothing they cannot do if they maintain the thoroughgoing stand of national independence. Marking the fifth anniversary of the publication of the October 4 Declaration, the atmosphere of supporting the north-south declarations and the will to implement them should prevail across the whole of the national territory. The south Korean people should wage a fierce mass struggle aimed at resolutely frustrating the schemes to sell the interests of the nation in collaboration with the foreign forces. National reconciliation and unity is the precondition and guarantee for national reunification. The common interests of the nation should be given top priority, and everything should be subordinated to them. Confrontation between fellow countrymen that is driving the inter-Korean relations towards catastrophe should be strongly opposed and rejected. Acts against reunification, acts that disgrace the dignity of the north and foster distrust and antagonism between the north and the south, cannot be tolerated in the slightest. All the fellow countrymen should wage a nationwide struggle to frustrate the anti-reunification policy hostile to compatriots pursued by the group of traitors, hindering national reconciliation and unity and escalating confrontation. The prevailing situation urgently demands that the war moves of the bellicose forces at home and abroad be checked and frustrated. The entire nation, under the unfurled banner of anti-war and peace, should smash every move of reckless military provocation, arms buildup and war exercises against the north. Constant vigilance against the danger of military collaboration of the bellicose forces within the country and without should be maintained, and the US aggressor forces, the main obstacle to peace in the Korean peninsula, should be pulled out from south Korea. Today's struggle to implement the instructions of Kim Jong Il on national reunification is a patriotic one related with the destiny of the nation in the new century of the Juche era. All the Korean people in the north, south and abroad should unite closely under the banners of the June 15 Joint Declaration and the October 4 Declaration and give further spurs to the reunification movement. By doing so, this year they should make a breakthrough for independent reunification. The international environment was quite complicated last year, but the Korean revolution advanced invariably along the road of victory indicated by Kim Jong Il. Kim Jong Il was a defender of justice; for long, he conducted energetic external activities under the unfurled banner of anti-imperialist independence, remarkably enhancing the position and authority of Songun Korea in the international arena and rendering immortal services to promoting the cause of independence of mankind. The historic visits he made last year to China and Russia served as important occasions for achieving peace in the world and security in Northeast Asia and developing the traditional relations of friendship. Whatever a sudden turn the international situation may take and however frantically the imperialists may behave, nothing can arrest our advance towards socialism. We will, in the future, too, hold fast to our Party’s principles of independence, friendship and peace, and strive to develop relations of friendship with countries that respect our country's sovereignty. As they have entered the new century of the Juche era, having overcome the pain of the greatest loss, our service personnel and people are filled with a grim determination and confidence in sure victory. Inscribed in the hearts of our service personnel and people, who have turned out in the new onward march, are lifetime appearances of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. Leader Kim Jong Il, Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, always found himself on the train and spent his lifetime in field guidance for the sake of the fatherland and people.
The data show that there have been 1 700 media reports on leader Kim Jong Il’s revolutionary activities since the demise of President Kim Il Sung, of which 160 are for the year of 2011 alone.
Thus leader Kim Jong Il worked so energetically all the year round until the last moment of his life despite of the sultry and cold weathers, that he could not recover from the fatigue and passed away to the deepest regret of the people.
From the first day this year he refused to rest and gave spot guidance to different fields of national economy regardless of his birthday and national holidays, thus leading the struggle to build a thriving socialist nation.
His last trip was also made to an establishment that would make contribution to the people’s life. He died of sudden heart attack on his way to another place for field guidance.
The Korean people grieved at the news of his death were even more anguished by the weather records of December 16 and 17 from the weather station, which said:
“The highest daytime temperature on December 16 and the lowest morning temperature on December 17 were the lowest ever recorded up to December 21, this year. The day’s temperature was the lowest in the past 26 years since 1985 ever recorded as the highest daytime temperature.”
His days of successive field guidance for the people were spent more in nasty days than in fair days
Wishing leader Kim Jong Il good health the Korean people would sing a song:
Snows and rains falling on this land
We are ready to go through
Lest you walk sloppy roads
But the last train he was on had to run in the coldest day of this year.

On December 17, 2011 leader Kim Jong Il, Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK passed away too early of a sudden illness on a train on his way to field guidance for the people.
At the sad news of his death on December 19, the Korean people, who wanted to see him, were at a loss.
It was because there was no statue for them to cry their heart out looking up to.
In his lifetime leader Kim Jong Il saw to it that the President Kim Il Sung’s statues were erected everywhere in Korea thinking of the President only. But he refused erecting his own statue. He also denied the production of any feature film depicting him.
However earnestly the Korean people wanted, he did not walk onto the public forum in marshal’s uniform to deliver a speech receiving congratulations from the people.
Leader Kim Jong Un suggested making a celebrated picture of leader Kim Jong Il with broad warm smile wearing the field clothes he used to put on in his endless field guidance tour.
Artists are said to have completed his portrait, missing leader Kim Jong Il who was smiling broadly on blizzardy Mt. Paektu.
The portrait of leader Kim Jong Il was thus produced representing the burning desire of the KPA servicemen who would march proudly across the grand festival square upholding it together with that of President Kim Il Sung marking the 100th birthday of the President on April, 2012.
Nobody then expected it would be hung in a few days over the sea of tears of national mourning.
On Dec. 20 the portrait was to be found at many places in Pyongyang.
Those places were all of a sudden crowded with endless streams of people, roads and residential districts around them turning into the waves of people.
The smiling President Kim Il Sung’s picture, which was perfected under the direct guidance of leader Kim Jong Il and presented to the Korean people grieving at the death of the President Kim Il Sung 17 years ago, made all the people shed tears. His smile is still vivid in the hearts of the mankind.
Now the great leader Kim Jong Un prepared the picture of smiling leader Kim Jong Il for his people.
It was leader Kim Jong Un’s announcement that Kim Jong Il will always be with the people and his lifetime aspiration for building a thriving socialist state for the people will be realized at any cost.

Why Is there No Statue of Leader Kim Jong Il?

Leader Kim Jong Il, Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army, passed away on December 17, 2011 of acute disease on the way to field guidance.
Sites for mourning ceremony were established across the country. Lamenting bitterly over the sudden death of leader Kim Jong Il the Korean people felt all the more painful and unfilial, for they had not erected any statue of leader Kim Jong Il.
Here is a story how they could not set up his statue.
The Korean people, with deep respect and admiration for leader Kim Jong Il who achieved great exploits for the country and the people, had long since planned to erect his statue.
The issue became a matter of an utmost urgency entering 1999.
Letters from the servicemen of the Korean Peoples Army and the people, sent to the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea on the occasion of the 60th birthday of leader Kim Jong Il, unanimously called for the erecting of his statue. The Korean revolutionary veterans actively joined them, too.
The followers of the Juche idea and Songun idea as well as the progressive people fighting for socialism across the world also sent letters to leader Kim Jong Il suggesting it.
The Mansudae Art Studio, the top dignified fine art producer in Korea, made drafts for the statue and submitted them to the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
Leader Kim Jong Il, nonetheless, was opposed to any of them: he would never tolerate their suggestions.
Sharply criticizing those who were busy with setting up the statue, Kim Jong Il said: Now I think of nothing but how to reunify the country and build a thriving nation on this land carrying forward the revolutionary cause of the President. I wonder why you are so lost in the statue issue, which I myself don’t want.
Leader Kim Jong Il honored those who made contributions to the cause of country’s liberation, socialism and the building of a thriving nation as patriots and heroes and had their statues erected. He, however, never allowed anything for himself.
Leader Kim Jong Il was so humble a man that he dedicated his all for the people but wanted no honour nor fame.
Therefore the Korean people established the mourning sites with the portrait of leader Kim Jong Il hung at the places frequented by the masses.
Looking up to the portrait of leader Kim Jong Il smiling brightly like the sun, people cried and cried regretting their mistakes that they, taken up in happiness thanks to his warm care and solicitude, had not erected any statue of their leader.
But their tears were not the simple tears of lamentation and sorrow. They were the tears of firm determination to courageously overcome the grief to build at any cost a thriving nation, leader Kim Jong Il’s life-long aspiration, following respected leader Kim Jong Un.
Led by respected leader Kim Jong Un the Korean people will with credit carry on the Korean revolution to the end, the cause which had advanced victoriously under the leadership of leader Kim Jong Il.

The ASSPUK , JISGE and UK KFA today issued a joint statement supporting the just and correct stand of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK as expressed in the statement of the 30th of December "Lee Myung Bak group of traitors accused of thrice cursed crimes.
The DPRK National Defence Commission statement gives a timely rebuff to the clamour of the imperialists and world reactionaries for "change " in the DPRK . Such "change" advocated by the foolish politicians of the imperialist allied camp simply means destroying the superior Juche-based socialist system centred upon the masses and restoring capitalism in the DPRK. This would bring misery to the people of the DPRK and mean the DPRK becoming a colony of US imperialism and international monopoly finance.
We also condemn the south Korean puppet traitors and flunkeys for insulting the memory of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il and refusing to allow ordinary south Koreans to send condolence delegations to the DPRK. The actions of the south Korean puppets are totally counter to basic morality and ethics and will do nothing to improve inter-Korean relations. We support and respect the stance of the DPRK NDC not to have relations with the dirty and evil scum of the Lee Myung Bak puppet clique.
Mention here needs to be made of the slanderous media coverage in countries of the imperialist West . DPRK NDC declares "expect no change"

Pyongyang, December 30 (KCNA) -- The National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Friday released the following statement:

The army and people of the DPRK lost the father of their large family on December 17 so suddenly and so early to their regret.

Their sorrow over the loss was so bitter and unbearable that the whole country turned into a veritable sea of mourners and even the mountains, rivers, plants and trees seemed to wail.

This is because leader Kim Jong Il was the great leader recognized by the world, iron-willed brilliant commander who defeated even the formidable enemies and tender-hearted father who brought up the servicepersons and people under his loving care.

Now not only the Korean people but the whole world will more keenly realize as the days go by what great and distinguished man they lost.

We feel grateful to the heads of state and party leaders, governments, organizations and personages of many countries of the world and compatriots at home and abroad for expressing profound condolences, sharing sorrow with us, and sending sincere sympathy and encouragement during the mourning period. We will never forget them.

When the whole nation is overcome with grief over the great loss, only the south Korean puppet group committed thrice-cursed crimes.

The DPRK National Defence Commission, above all, discloses before the world and the nation the truth about those crimes of the south Korean puppet group.

Though the country remains divided into the north and the south due to foreign forces, we are one nation.

The army and people of the DPRK, though suffering pain resulting from the division, have valued this homogenous nation more than anything else, always regarding as their faith the truth that the nation is above the ideology and system.

But this time the south Korean puppet group perpetrated such rash act as hurting the grief-stricken compatriots and rubbing salt into their wounds, determined to stop remaining as part of the nation of its own accord.

No sooner had the important report of the DPRK been released than the south Korean puppet group convened an emergency "state security meeting" and "state affairs meeting" and put even overseas missions on emergency alert duty, kicking off rackets to create the impression that a "contingency" was created as expected, and a "golden opportunity" presented itself to lead the north to "system change".

The south Korean authorities put the three services of the puppet army on an emergency alert and ordered them to adopt combat posture, creating a war-like atmosphere on the ground and in the seas and air. They let over 30 right-wing conservative reactionary organizations flock to the forefront areas to scatter anti-DPRK leaflets whose content was hurting the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK and inciting disturbance.

Traitor Lee Myung Bak spearheaded all these operations.

He sought to attain his foolish goal by taking the advantage of the mourning period, and if that fails, to lead the DPRK to "contingency" and "change of system".

From the olden times, it was considered inhumane to raise one's fist at the neighbor visited by misfortune and seek profits.

Even a foreign country which has no diplomatic relations with the DPRK stopped the planned military exercises being considerate of the sorrow of the army and people of the DPRK and set a mourning period to express condolences. In the light of this, the traitorous group's bullying acts can not but be viewed as one defying human ethics and morality.

Lee group's stepped-up show of enmity toward the DPRK culminated in its act of blocking south Koreans who wanted to visit Pyongyang to mourn the demise of leader Kim Jong Il.

South Koreans from all walks of life upon the news of Kim Jong Il's demise that came like a bolt from the blue strongly called for expressing condolences and dispatching mourners group regardless of whether they belonged to progressive or conservative camps and ruling or opposition parties.

The traitorous group of Lee turned down all the demands, describing south Koreans' request to express condolences as "sympathy to north's citizens separated from its regime". It banned the dispatch of mourners' group talking about "chaos of south Korean society". It foolishly tried to estrange the popular masses of the DPRK from its headquarters on one hand and totally ban the Pyongyang visits much hoped by broad south Koreans by taking the measures of "selected visits" and "restricting mourners groups" on the other hand.

Shared sorrow lessens while shared pleasure increases.

Expressing condolences and sending condolatory messages have been good manners and customs and ethical tradition peculiar to the Korean nation from the ancient times.

It is for this reason that we brand the evil act of the Lee group as treason bereft of elementary human reason and morality.

The group dared try to link the "final responsibility" for the warship "Cheonan" sinking and shelling on Yonphyong Island with the supreme leadership of the DPRK. They let loose such reckless remarks that the DPRK must present justifications for south Korea to move if it wants to have the "May 24 measure of the authorities" retracted and the north-south relations mended this time.

It is hideous crime that can never be pardoned in any case to dare hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership of the DPRK over its army's self-defensive shell-firing on Yonphyong Island for coping with preemptive provocation in the wake of the "Cheonan" warship sinking case which is not related to the DPRK.

The group of traitors even hatched a plot to prompt the DPRK make a "change", while talking about its non-existent "contingency" and "instability" of its dignified system and regime. This evildoing adds to the said crimes.

Upon joint authorization of the Party, state, army and people of the DPRK, the DPRK National Defence Commission clarifies the following principled stand on the group of traitors' hideous crimes committed at the time of the great misfortune of the nation:

As already declared, the DPRK will have no dealings with the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors forever.

To keep company with them is a disgrace for the clear and honest-minded Korean nation as they are ignorant in politics, vulgar in morals and lack elementary human nature.

We will surely force the group of traitors to pay for its hideous crimes committed at the time of the great national misfortune.

The veritable sea of tears shed by the army and people of the DPRK will turn into that of retaliatory fire to burn all the group of traitors to the last one and their wailing into a roar of revenge to smash the stronghold of the puppet forces.

The conservative media of south Korea would also face due punishment as they are backing and following the group of traitors in its treacherous act against humanity through false report, fabrication, speculation and presumption, oblivious of their mission to be fair speaker for the public and pioneer of true public.

The south Korean puppets and world reactionaries should no longer make a fool of themselves in their bid to lead the DPRK to "contingency" and make its "system instable", something unimaginable.

All the soldiers and people of the DPRK turned out to mourn the demise of leader Kim Jong Il since the announcement of his demise, an indication of the great unity of the party, army and people behind the headquarters of the revolution in single mind and invincibility of the Korean-style socialist system.

The army and people of the DPRK will unswervingly keep to the path of Juche indicated by Kim Jong Il true to the intention of President Kim Il Sung.

Taking this opportunity, we solemnly declare with confidence that the south Korean puppets and foolish politicians around the world should not expect any change from the DPRK.

The army and people of the DPRK will keep to the path of improving north-south relations and achieving peace and prosperity.

Mended north-south relations we want are not improvement based on "high-handedness" and "flexibility" as touted by Lee Myung Bak group of traitors or on crafty gimmick of those rhetorics.

The DPRK wants to improve relations with the south and bring peace and prosperity through the nationwide drive to implement the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration under the banner of independence, peace and reunification.

Solemn National Memorial Service for Kim Jong Il Held in Pyongyang

Pyongyang, December 29 (KCNA) -- A solemn national memorial service for Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, was held in Pyongyang Thursday.

Kim Il Sung Square was wrapped in a solemn atmosphere.

The dear respected Kim Jong Un, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and supreme leader of the WPK, state and army, appeared on the tribune of honor.

Present there were members of the National Funeral Committee, Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, officials of the party, state, armed forces and power bodies, public organizations, ministries and national institutions, men and officers of the KPA and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, officials in the fields of science, education, culture, arts, public health and media, anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, bereaved families of revolutionary martyrs, mourners delegations from all provinces, people of all social standings, a mourners delegation of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters in China, those related to the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle in China, families of Chinese related to the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and their parties, mourners groups of overseas Koreans and other overseas Koreans, the chief of the Pyongyang Mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front, diplomatic envoys of foreign countries, members of the military attaches corps and representatives of international organizations here and foreign guests.

All the participants in the memorial service observed a moment's silence in humblest reverence in memory of Kim Jong Il who worked heart and soul to accomplish the cause of building a thriving socialist nation till the last moments of his great life.

Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., WPK and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, made a memorial address.

He said:

Kim Jong Il, who devoted energies and tireless efforts to the accomplishment of the revolutionary cause of Juche, national reunification and global independence, passed away so suddenly and so early to our regret. This is the greatest loss to the WPK and the revolution and the biggest loss to the nation which no one could have ever imagined.

All the people, men and women of all ages, who suffered the greatest loss of the nation, unbelievable, visited the bier of Kim Jong Il and the mourning stations in the whole mourning period to mourn his demise in humblest reverence.

Born as the son of guerrillas in Mt. Paektu, the holy mountain of the revolution, Kim Jong Il led the revolution and construction to victory with his brilliant wisdom, outstanding ideas and theories, extraordinary leadership ability and noble virtues for a long period, performing the undying revolutionary feats for the country, the nation, the times and history.

He made a new history of accomplishing the cause of perpetuating the memory of President Kim Il Sung with his noblest revolutionary moral obligation, making sure that the lofty revolutionary life and feats of the President were enshrined in the hearts of the Korean people and mankind to shed rays forever.

The revolutionary career of Kim Jong Il was a history of a heroic epic of the Songun brilliant commander born of Heaven and peerlessly great man who defended the sovereignty of the DPRK and put the dignity of the country on the highest level while resolutely shattering the moves of the imperialist allied forces for sanctions, pressure and moves for a war with arms.

Not putting off a jumper all his life, he made forced marches with his indefatigable efforts for field guidance to bring a happy life to the Korean people, considering a day as ten, nay a hundred days. We can never forget this dedication and efforts made by him.

He was, indeed, an outstanding statesman, peerlessly great man and a great sage of the revolution who steadily advanced the Korean revolution along the road of victory.

Prompted by his noble mission to carve out the destiny of the country and the nation and the future of the revolution, he gave a steady continuity to the tradition of the revolutionary cause of Juche, the Songun revolutionary cause which started on Mt. Paektu.

He perfectly solved the issue of the succession to the leadership, the hardcore in succeeding to the revolutionary cause. This was the noblest feat he performed for the destiny of the country and the eternal prosperity of all generations to come.

Standing at the helm of the Korean revolution is Kim Jong Un, the successor to the revolutionary cause of Juche.

Kim Jong Un is the supreme leader of our party and army and people as he fully personified the ideas and leadership, personality, virtues, grit and courage of Kim Jong Il.

We will turn sorrow into thousand-fold strength and courage and tide over the present difficulties and more dynamically advance along the road of Songun indicated by Kim Jong Il under the leadership of Kim Jong Un.

We, who made a pledge in bitter tears before the bier of Kim Jong Il, will accomplish the cause of the Songun revolutionary cause, the cause of building a thriving socialist nation, holding Kim Jong Un in high esteem as another General and supreme leader.

The noble and august name of Kim Jong Il and his image with a broad smile on his face will shine for all ages and he will always live in the hearts of the servicepersons and people of the DPRK.

1)THE ROLE OF THE LEADER.
Modern revisionists mouth about the "cult of personality ". This was a term used by Khruschov to slander and vilify the late JV Stalin and the building of socialism in the USSR . Khruschov's so called secret speech to the 20th congress of the CPSU was leaked out to the imperialist countries and the term "cult of personality" became a stock in trade for anti-communist propagandists as well as revisionists and opportunists . The USSR and international communist movement suffered badly because of Khruschov's folly . The USSR swung right and a few decades later restored capitalism , that is where the theory of the "cult of personality" ends up. The essence of the theory of the so called "cult of personality" is an artificial separation of the leader from the masses. Bourgeois and revisionist commentators fail to realise that the leader is not an individual but the centre of unity of society.
Those who prate about the "cult of personality" are those who fail to see society as a collective, instead are influenced by a bourgeois concept of society which sees society as made up of atomised individuals, typically an extreme and nihilistic variant of these world outlook was expressed by ex premier M Thatcher who once claimed that "there is no such thing as society"
Indeed the leader is the supreme brain of the revolution , the supreme brain of society . Society is like a living organism or a body. The brain requires a brain , a body without a brain would be impossible . Yet some people think you can have a body without a brain. No one thinks of the brain enslaving their own body.
In the DPRK the masses , the party and the leader form an integral and harmonious whole the like of which has never been witnessed in any exploitative capitalist society and not in any revisonist countries either . People in the DPRK are united in a single heart and a single mind, they move as one.

2)DEMOCRACY, MASSES AND LEADER
Some of the sillier and most offensive propaganda comes from the imperialist media such as the BBC which talk of "state organised mourning" , this insults the pure feelings of Korean people grieving for the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il. It is possible to force people some things such as go to work but it is impossible to force people to cry . Some so called "leftists " join hands with them such forces complaining about a "concentration of power" and "hereditary principle" . Such people ignore the fact that comrade Kim Jong Un was elected vice-chairman of the Central
Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea at a party conference in September 2010. The WPK has over 3 million members, most families in the DPRK have party members within them. So basically Kim Jong Un's appointment as successor to the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il was democratically decided by a large number of people so there is no parallels with monarchies. Some foolish people speak of "feudalism " but in a feudal society organs like the Supreme People's Assembly and local people's assemblies simply wont not exist nor would the Workers' Party of Korea. Feudalism is defined simply by the Freedictionary Online as "political and economic system of Europe from the 9th to about the 15th century, based on the holding of all land in fief or fee and the resulting relation of lord to vassal and characterized by homage, legal and military service of tenants, and forfeiture.". In the DPRK feudal landlordism was abolished in 1946 by the Agrarian Reform law , which redistributed free of charge all land over 5 hectares ,one of the most radical land reforms in history Those who talk about "feudalism" are not only extremely ignorant of the DPRK's history and struggle only very ignorant of the DPRK's history and struggle but actually lack a Marxist understanding(just how can and when did feudal production relations come back when they had been abolished), just how stupid can revisionist and Trotksyite blockheads be ! The DPRK is often judged through the prism of imaginary socialist societies envisaged in failed revisionist programmes ( in 1951 we had the "British Road to Socialism" supposedly a creative application of Marxism, 60 years later we are still waiting for socialism)
In the DPRK organs of power such as the Supreme Peoples Assembly, provincial and city peoples assemblies are elected by direct and equal suffrage. The voting age is 17 years old. Usually in the DPRK the turnout for elections is virtually 100% (compare this to turnouts of 60% or 70% in capitalist countries or even less than 20% in local elections). Voting in the DPRK is seen as a demonstration of unity and harmony in which everyone participates, people even dance at polling stations, every section of society votes. In capitalist countries such as the UK there is a view that voting in elections is for rich people, intellectuals and the so-called 'chattering classes' Unlike the so-called Western democracies electors have the right to recall their representatives if they fail to do their job properly.
The DPRK fully practises the Chongsan Ri method and Chongsan ri spirit worked out by the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung and fully embraced by the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il. The Chongsan ri method is best defined thus
"The basic requirement of Chongsan-ri spirit is to thoroughly defend the interests of the popular masses, rally the entire people around the Party and convert all the works into that of popular masses themselves. The main of Chongsan-ri method is that superiors help their subordinates, go out to the spot to grasp the actual conditions and find correct ways to solve the problems, give priority to the work with the people and fully mobilize the people’s revolutionary enthusiasm and creativity to carry out their assignment."

All cadres and officials are expected to do manual work. Officials live in ordinary blocks of flats.
The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il himself worked very hard ,cutting down on his sleep only taking naps and eating plain rice-balls. He died whilst on a tour of on-the spot-guidance.
The relationship of the masses to the great leader President Kim Il Sung and the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il was a close one which Westerners found hard to understand. They were like ties of blood , Korean people regarded Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il as their fathers. The role of the leader under Juche-orientated socialism is very different to politicians in capitalist societies. Often politicians in capitalist societies are simply front-men for the big monopoly corporations. Real decision making in done behind closed doors in the boardrooms of the City rather than parliament.
The great leader president Kim Il Sung declared "The People Are My God". The great
leader comrade Kim Jong Il also practiced this carrying out people-orientated policies , benevolent policies. The leader loved the people and the people loved the leader. This was clearly demonstrated when the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il passed away , no communist or socialist or progressive person should speak ill of this.

3)STRUGGLE AGAINST THE ENEMIES OF SOCIALISM
Daft revisionists and Trotskyites wilfully ignore the danger of US imperialism , the south Korean puppets , other imperialist powers such as Japan and assorted international reactionary forces trying to overthrow socialism in the DPRK ,not necessarily by direct force(though this is a possibility with US troops stationed in south Korea and Japan plus 1,000 nuclear weapons in south Korea) or sanctions but by trying undermine the DPRK from within. This was of course used in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. As a Rodong Sinmun article of 19th of January 20009 pointed out
"The lesson to be drawn from those east European countries which shrank back from the class struggle, harboring illusion about the class enemies is that if a country makes one step for concession and retreat in the acute class struggle, it will have to take ten or a hundred steps for concession and retreat and thus meet such tragedy as losing its socialist gains at the hands of the enemies, the article says, and continues:
An uncompromising struggle against the class enemies calls for properly understanding the target of the class struggle.
Imperialism is the no. one class enemy of socialism.
Imperialism represents brutes who cannot exist even a moment without invading other countries and nations. For imperialism aggression and plunder are means of its existence. Its aggressive nature and bestiality can never change.
We must not forget even a moment that there always exist the class enemies who are working hard to destroy the socialist system.
There are those who are opposed to the socialist system, those introducing the corrupt bourgeois way of life into society, taken in by the imperialists' anti-socialist propaganda, those abandoning the socialist principle for money and those divulging state secrets for money and others who try hard to undermine socialism. All of them are the class enemies of socialism.
The moves of the class enemies to disseminate unsound ideas into socialist society must be thoroughly frustrated.
It is necessary to solidly consolidate the socialist class base, strengthen the cohesion and unity of the revolutionary ranks and more firmly build up the armed forces of the class and the revolution, the article notes, urging the people not to be tricked by the talk about the super-class "human rights" and "humanitarianism."

In the 1960s revisionist Khruschov abolished the dictatorship of the proletariat and declared itself a "state of the whole people" abandoning the class struggle and giving up the revolution halfway . 4)SONGUN IDEA,SONGUN POLITICS AND SONGUN REVOLUTIONARY LEADERSHIP
The life of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il was closely bound up with the Songun idea, Songun politics and Songun-based revolutionary leadership. The Songun idea was based on the simple principle that arms guarantee the defence and advance of the revolution. This was the truth of the anti-Japanese armed struggle led by the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung and was elaborated at the famous Kalun meeting of June 1930. The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il was born the son of guerrillas on Mt Paektu within the sound of the gunshots of the anti-Japanese war. Later during the severe Fatherland Liberation War against the Yankee imperialists he visted the KPA Supreme Command operations room. As it well known to the world , comrade Kim Jong Il started his Songun revoliutionary leadership on August 25th 1960 at the historic Seoul Guards Ryu Kyong Su no 105 Tank Division.
Songun was developed in depth by the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il . As he expounded
"By dint of Songun politics we have smashed the anti-DPRK, anti-socialist machinations of the imperialists step by step, defended the country and the revolution and exalted the dignity and prestige of socialist Korea in the eyes of the world.

The Songun-based politics of our Party is a politics the invincibility of which has been verified through severe historical ordeals, and an all-powerful sword for victory in the revolution. It is an invariable conviction and will of our Party to defend and carry forward by force of arms the sacred revolutionary cause which was pioneered and has won one victory after another by force of arms. The whole Party, the entire army and all the people must wage a resolute struggle under the banner of Songun and thus build a great, prosperous and powerful socialist nation, achieve national reunification and accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche."

Songun fully recognises the basic fact that socialism is built in confrontation with imperialism. The DPRK itself is on the frontline of the struggle between socialism and imperialism.
During the 1960s US imperialism was inciting its puppets in south Korea to “march north” to attack the DPRK.
Imperialism had also penetrated the international communist movement in the form of modern revisionism. The modern revisionists caused splits and confusion.The socialist camp was split into two creating a dangerous situation. The modern revisionists compromised with the US imperialists and stifled the anti imperialist struggle Jabbering about ’peaceful co existence’ they embarked unilateral and one sided disarmament of the socialist camp. They melted down tanks and guns. In 1962 Khruschov betrayed Cuba to the US imperialists. Not only did they weaken the defence capacity of the socialist camp but they crippled communist and worker's parties throughout the world with their "peaceful road " theories.
Thus the need was for Korea strengthen and consolidate its self defence capablities a revolutionary line in opposition to both US imperialism and modern revisionism. The Korean People’s Army was fortified ideologically and politically. It was built up as the army of the leader,party and working class.As the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il said
“The People’s Army is the revolutionary armed force of the Workers Party of Korea and its mission is to defend with arms the revolutionary cause of our party”

It was also built into a strong army ,a revolutionary army of Mt Paektu fully inheriting the traditions of the anti Japanese armed struggle. It became an army in which each of its soldiers was a match for a hundred enemy soldiers(though the anti party revisionists tried to oppose the revolutionary slogan “ a match for a hundred”).
Leader Kim Jong Il taught as follows

“We must must inspire the entire Party membership and working people and soldiers of the People’s Army with a firm conviction of victory and dauntless fighting spirit so that if the enemy assaults us we shall rise as one as smite the aggressors violently for the honour of Juche Korea under the direction of the leader”.
Under the Songun based revolutionary leadership of leader Kim Jong Il the KPA and Korean people smited US imperialism with full force.In January 1968 the USS Pueblo an armed spy pirate ship of the US imperialist aggressors was captured by the KPA navy off Wonsan(the Pueblo can be seen today on the bank of the river Taedong).The US imperialists demanded the immediate return the ship falsely claiming that it was in “international waters” and the cowardly revisionists tried to advise the DPRK to send the ship and its crew back.
The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il said
"Nowadays people of a certain country are saying that if a war breaks out in Korea it will be serious problem,and “advising us” it would be better to have the Pueblo quietly released.This would mean making a concession to US imperialism,and we can never do such a thing.A concession to US imperialism means submission and surrender.Since the our People’s Arm“Ny did not capture the “Pueblo” on the sea off the United States,but when it was in violation of our country’s territorial waters and engaged in in acts of espionage,we need to neither make any concession to the Americans or pander to them”

The DPRK resolutely stood firm and refused to do so until an apolegy from the US was issued

In 1969 the US imperialist spy plane EC121 tried to infiltrate into DPRK but was shot down by the KPA airforce.In 1994 a US army helicopter infiltrated into DPRK airspace and was brought down by one shot by the KPA.
Since the end of the 1980s the US imperialists have invaded and trampled down the sovereignty of many nations-Panama, Somalia, Iraq, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan , Libya and others.
The US imperialists seeked to isolate and stifle the DPRK by inventing the nuclear issue on the Korean peninsula leading to the 1st ‘Korean nuclear crisis’ in the 1990s and the 2nd one in the 2000s.The DPRK refused to bow down and instead declared a semi war state and announced its intention to withdraw from the one sided and inquitous NPT in 1993. This move stunned the US and they had to enter into talks.
When Bush vocificated about a “rogue state” and “axis of evil” and raked up the 2nd nuclear crisis the DPRK under the Songun supreme commander comrade Kim Jong Il responded with a series of hardline measures namely withdrawing completely from the NPT and declaring itself a nuclear state.This was not mere words,the DPRK succesfully carried out nuclear tests in October 2006 and May 2009. The nuclear device was the fruit of self reliance based 100% on Korean resources and technology.
Thus under the Songun revolutionary leadership the DPRK has been fortified ever more strongly as powerful socialist state of independence.A country of Juche which is able to do what it likes and say what it like no matter what others may say or think.Comrade Kim Jong Il brilliant commander of Songun declared on the 1st of January 1995,at the Takasbol army post that the Korean people had a choice of either being an independent people adhering to socialism or colonial slaves of imperialism.Thanks to the Songun revolutionary leadership of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il the DPRK has been able to smash the unceasing pressure and moves of US and world imperialism to isolate and stifle the DPRK.The DPRK has carried proudly along the road of Juche defying the imperialists.The Songun revolutionary leadership has carried forward the Juche revolutionary cause and is propelling it ever onward to final victory.
Some people wanted the DPRK to laid down its weapons and disarm, it is all too clear what would have happened had the DPRK listened to them and abandoned.

Some say we should be modest about the DPRK achievements and its people centred socialist system , or indeed focus on problems rather than promote the achivements of the DPRK.

The funeral of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il though a sad and painful event demonstrated the unity ,disclipine and order of Songun Korea. Had any Western capitalist state tried to put that number of people on the streets it would resulted in chaos and disorder on a wide scale. In the UK it was impossible for shop sales to take place without 1 person being stabbed and killed. In the DPRK people can walk the streets safely at night and leave their doors unlocked. In the UK such a thing is impossible. Here criminal gangs threaten the safety of people and drug addicts openly take drugs on the street. Even right-wing
anti socialist philosophers such as Oswald Spengler admitted that the West was on the path of decline and eventual eclipse. The West will indeed be eclipsed by the new socialist civilisation of Juche Korea.
The social and economic achievements of Juche Korea, which are associated with the leadership of the great leaders comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il are great. The DPRK has full employment,people are guaranteed the right to work by the Consitution and this is underpinned by socialist planning and the independent national economy.Taxation was abolished back in 1974 and the agricultural tax in kind was abolished in the period 1964-1966.Housing is supplied virtually free of charge.The Pyongyang Metro is one of the cheapest in the world with a flat rate fare of about 2p(compare this to £4 minimum fare on the London underground.
Education at all levels is free started from kindergarten right up to university level .DPRK university students are not burdened with heavy debts,their accomdation and clothing is supplied free of charge.Education has good quality facilites.This can be witnessed at the Changwang Kindergarten and universities such as the Kim Chaek University and Kim Il Sung university.A new state of the art e library has been opened at the Kim Chaek University built entirely with DPRK funds and resources.Children at the Changgwang kindergarten recieve 5 meals a day.Each child gets 120g of rice per day a far cry from the alleged starvation that the imperialists press claims takes place !
Health care is also free including prescriptions and dentistry.The DPRK public health system is a self reliant people centred socialist healthcare system.The DPRK public health service does not rely on low wage labour from outside the country,unlike the NHS !.There is no hidden fees or costs either in DPRK hospitals(such as parking charges,fees for single rooms,tv charges etc-all of which exist in the UK) It includes the section doctor system whereby doctors actually give check ups to patients in their homes and make rounds of localities.
Socialism in the DPRK is not a copy of the Soviet Union or China nor it is dependent on anyone.It is a Korean style socialist system centred on the popular masses. In the DPRK people are free from the evils of capitalist society such as exploitation, oppression, drugs, violence etc. thanks to the Juche idea independence and creativity are blooming.It is the system chosen by the Korean people themselves. This the legacy bequeathed by the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il which no-one should slander or disparage It will prosper even more under the banner of Juche and self- reliance and the Songun revolutionary leadership of respected General Kim Jong Un.

On December 19 and 20, the People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy and the Peace Network, civic organizations, issued statements demanding the authorities send a condolatory delegation to the north.

The Roh Moo-hyun Foundation clarified it will send a mourning delegation to the north.

S. Korean NGOs Insist Visiting DPRK over Kim Jong Il's Demise

South Korean NGOs called for forming a mourners group and visiting the northern half of Korea to express deep condolences over the demise of leader Kim Jong Il.

On December 21, they held a meeting where they discussed forming the group with the People's Council for National Reconciliation and Cooperation as a core. They included the "Movement of Koreans for Helping Each Other" and the Citizen's Solidarity for Democratic Society.

Han has been detained at Seoul Prison on charges of the violation of the "National Security Law" for the mere reason that he visited the northern half of Korea last year to mark the 10th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration.

On the 27th of December is the 39th anniversary of the Socialist Constitution of the Democratic People's Republic and also the anniversary of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung been elected president of the DPRK (he had previously been premier and chairman).

The promulgation of the Socialist Constitution of the DPRK legally reflected that the DPRK had come to have an advanced socialist system with no exploitation or oppression. The imperialist and their paid hacks and fake "human rights" organisations slander the DPRK over "human rights " but in fact under the DPRK Socialist Constitution people are guaranteed the inviolability of the person(article 79) which is not fully guaranteed in the imperialist countries Article 2 stipulates that the DPRK is a revolutionary state and article 3 states that the DPRK is guided by the Juche Idea and Songun idea. Article 4 says that the sovereignty of the DPRK rests with the workers,peasants,working intellectuals and all other working people.

Unlike bourgeois states deputies to the SPA are accountable to the people and can be recalled if they lose the trust of the people Article 7.

The people of the DPRK are guaranteed independence and creativity as prescribed by the immortal Juche idea .They have legal rights unknown in capitalist countries,the right to work Article 70 ,right to relaxation article 71 right to free medical care article 72,right to education article 73.

Impressive measures taken by vice-chairman General Kim Jong Un

I was very impressed to read of the measures taken by General Kim Jong Un, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea . Not only did he take measure to supply fresh fish to Pyongyang residents but also set up 30,000 service facilities for mourners . Furthermore 10,000 medical workers have been mobilised to assist anyone who may feel ill at mourning sites. Large coaches providing a warm shelter and serving hot drinks have also appeared. This shows the deep concern of General Kim Jong Un as well as leadership and organisational ablities.

CPRK Spokesman Slams S. Korean Authorities for Checking Mourners Groups from Visiting DPRK

Pyongyang, December 25 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea (CPRK) gave the following answer to a question put by KCNA Sunday slamming the south Korean authorities for barring south Koreans from all walks of life hoping to pay condolences over the demise of leader Kim Jong Il from visiting the DPRK:

The Korean nation and the world are mourning in great sorrow the loss of a peerlessly great man.

Personages of not only those countries which have friendly relations with the DPRK but many other countries, to say nothing of Koreans are expressing deep condolences in bitter grief.

Broad south Koreans including those who had been involved in Pyongyang summits and political parties and organizations published condolence addresses, voicing their willingness to dispatch mourners groups.

Taking the ardent wish of south Koreans into full consideration, the DPRK decided to accept condolatory groups and missions of the south side and opened routes by land via Kaesong and air. It also took measures to provide every convenience to the visitors and guarantee their safety.

The south Korean authorities, however, have not only prevented south Koreans from visiting the DPRK to share grief with us but tried to justify their unethical acts talking about "violation of principle" and "occurrence of conflict among south Koreans" in a bid to quench the hot wind for condolatory visits to the DPRK.

The south Korean chief executive even let loose sophism of "separating north leadership from the inhabitants", indicative of his design to escalate confrontation with the DPRK, in a bid to break the single-minded unity of the people in the DPRK.

The south Korean puppet authorities' unethical acts bereft of elementary etiquette and compatriotism have touched off unanimous outrage and wrath among Koreans and all other people of the world.

The Koreans still shudder at the treacherous act committed by traitor Kim Young Sam 17 years ago as he hurt the nation which was languishing in bitter grief at the loss of President Kim Il Sung.

The DPRK will never tolerate anyone checking mourners, branding them as top class criminals seriously insulting the supreme dignity of the DPRK.

The south Korean authorities should bear in mind that their obstructions will entail unpredictable catastrophic consequences to the north-south relations.

The Co-ordinating Committee of Friends of Korea, Britain, expresses its deepest condolences on the sad and untimely death of Kim Jong Il, the great leader of the Korean people. This is an incalculable loss of one who devoted his entire life until his last breath to serving the Korean people in the cause of building a human-centred society, a cause which is one espoused by the democratic and anti-imperialist forces the world over.

Kim Jong Il followed in the footsteps of the great leader Kim Il Sung, carrying forward his legacy, cherishing and working tirelessly for the reunification of the Korean Peninsula, and building the DPRK into an impregnable fortress in order to contribute to the peace and security of the region and on the world scale. It was by following and developing the principles and outlook of Juche that Kim Jong Il led the people in striving to fulfil the goal of building the DPRK into a powerful and prosperous country. It was a course which is being fulfilled by the deed of the people themselves, ever ready to defend this lofty ideal.

We express the sentiment of progressive opinion to stand as one in friendship and solidarity with the Korean people in these difficult times. Above all, we take it as our duty to defend the right of the Korean people to follow their own chosen nation-building path, free from outside interference. This is a course from which no hostile force can divert the Korean people and its leadership, and which contributes to the aspirations of peace-loving people everywhere for a new world free from imperialism, domination, subjugation, aggression and war.

Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- The Korean people will accomplish the cause of the Songun revolution to the end, definitely calling Kim Jong Un supreme commander, true to the oath they took before the bier of leader Kim Jong Il in bitter tears.

Rodong Sinmun Saturday stresses this in a political essay.

The sons and daughters of this country call Kim Jong Il Supreme Commander from the bottom of their hearts, looking up to him, their father who passed away with a red flag after bequeathing to the people the blue sky and the valuable assets he provided by dedicating his whole life and with Songun, the essay says, adding:

Unforgettable is the image of President Kim Il Sung on December 25, 20 years ago, who said full of satisfaction at the Meeting of the Company Political Instructors of the Korean People's Army: I firmly believe that the entire army will thoroughly implement any order of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il and remain faithful to him.

Since then, Kim Jong Il had broken through the raging storms of history with the arms of Mt. Paektu and, in this protracted course, became our supreme commander whom the people revered in earnest.

Over the past 20 years the DPRK had to repel the allied enemies' moves to stifle it and overcome consecutive natural disasters. This was, in fact, a grim war only without declaration and gun report.

For the people beloved by the President, and for the fatherland entrusted by him!

The heart of Kim Jong Il, the brilliant Songun commander, was burning with this faith everyday and every time. This faith finally drove out the dark clouds of aggression for good and brought the blue sky to this country.

Then his long journey of inspection to the frontline was followed by his field guidance to where land rezoning and construction of power stations were going on and to farm fields and industrial worksites. Such energetic activities and devoted efforts deeply moved our people to look up to him as the true guardian and creator of their destiny and happiness.

The great Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il! He is the great guardian who defended the destiny of the country and the people in the most perfect and responsible manner by exhausting all his energies while caring nothing for his own.

Shedding tears before his bier the army and people of the DPRK are calling again in their minds:

Russian parties Mourn Kim Jong Il

Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- Political figures of Russia visited the DPRK embassy in Moscow on Dec. 20 and 21 to mourn the demise of leader Kim Jong Il.

Khristenko, secretary of the C.C., the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks, and his party, Mozgovoi, first secretary of the C.C., the Communist Party of Soviet Union, and his party and Chilingarov, member of the Supreme Council of the United Russia Party and member of the Russian Federal Assembly, laid bouquets and paid silent tribute before the portrait of Kim Jong Il.

Khristenko expressed conviction that the Korean people would overcome sorrow and steadily advance along the road of socialism under Kim Jong Un, vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Mozgovoi expressed belief that the Korean people would overcome a stern trial and the cause of Kim Jong Il would be steadfastly carried forward thanks to Kim Jong Un.

IN MEMORY OF THE GREAT LEADER COMRADE KIM JONG IL 1942-2011
The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il passed away on the 17th of December 2011, an annoucement was made on Monday 19th of December.

I was deeply shocked by the news of the passing away of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il , general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army. It was literally a bolt from the blue which no one expected , even the enemies of the DPRK admitted they did not expect it and were unaware of it until the DPRK announced it to the world. On the morning of December 19th I recieved a cellphone text message from a good friend which said " Very sad news.Condolences to All". I was puzzled , who could have died ?I thought . I found a radio on and switched it to Radio 4 suddenly I heard them say "death of Kim Jong Il " , what this is impossible ! , this can't be true ? I remembered that only recently the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il gave guidance to the new Kwangbok supermarket. It seemed impossible that he could die. I struggled to switch my computer on(it is quite antiquated or so I am told by the younger generation) , finally it came on and I went on to the KCNA website. There was the official annoucement with a portrait of a smiling great leader comrade Kim Jong Il. Juche idea and Songun idea followers had been preparing earnestly to mark the 20th anniversary of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il's accession to the position of supreme commander of the KPA.(and also the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung in April 2012 and the 80th anniversary of the foundation of the Korean People's Army also in April) Why had he passed away so near the anniversary ? It reminded me darkly of when my own father died when I was 11 on the 13th of December 1972 only 12 days before Christmas (celebrated as a great festival in the West) , the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il passed away on the 17th of December only a week before Christmas. When my father died I could not understand why it had happened and indeed now the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il father of the Juche idea and Songun idea followers of the world passed on I cannot understand why.

I recalled my visit to the DPRK in April 2002 when I attended a rally at the People's Palace of Culture to mark the 90th anniversary of the birth of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung. I was with a Korean lady who was my guide for the visit. We were waiting for the meeting to start. Suddenly , a striking figure in light green strode on the stage at a very brisk pace . He looked strong , with a straight back . He not only walked briskly but with purpose ,determination and control. "leader Kim Jong il " shouted my guide sounding much younger than she was . The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il was 60 years old at the time but looked like he was in his 40s. Those present burst into spontaneous and rapturous applause which lasted for over five minutes . I had never witnessed anything like it before in my life.
The people of the DPRK and many people in south Korea had a deep love and reverence for the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il , indeed this goes beyond the boundaries of Korea , it is shared by all Juche idea followers and friends of Korea throughout the world. These feelings are due to the qualities of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il as a leader, as a theorist , as a teacher and as a man .
Comrade Kim Jong Il was born the son of guerrillas on snowswept Mt Paektu in a humble log cabin .At an early age he distinguished himself as a student and thinker . He pledged to glorify Korea on Mt Ryongnam during his university days. Indeed he has glorified Korea . He built Korea up as a mighty socialist military power which terrified the US and other imperialists . Juche Korea now has its own independent nuclear deterrent and has long range missiles which can strike the US mainland . The Korean People's Army is united steel-strong on the basis of Songun , its soldiers are a match for a hundred Yankee soldiers as taught by the great leader President Kim Il Sung The KPA struck back hard at the south Korean puppets when they foolishly provoked the Yongphyong incident in November 2010. I am convinced that if the US and south Korean puppets provoked a war the KPA could not only honourably defend
the DPRK but could also liberate south Korea and reunify the country. The overseas Korean writer M C Kim wrote about this his best selling book "Kim Jong Il Day of Having Korea Reunified". The strength of the KPA was down to the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il's Songun revolutionary leadership that began on the 25th of August 1960 at the Guard Ryu Kyong Su no 105 tank division of the Korean People's Army
The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il was a humble follower of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung , he ensured that his ideology , the Juche idea , prevailed throughout the WPK and the whole society . When modern revisionism raised its ugly head in the early 60s comrade Kim Jong Il wrote voluminous works exposing it Later he systematised and enriched the Juche idea , the guiding idea for human liberation , particularly in his work "ON THE JUCHE IDEA ". The Juche idea gripped the minds of the world's people aspiring for independence. Later Juche came to be both supplemented and enhanced by the Songun idea and Songun politics which the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il elaborated.
When socialism was frustrated in many countries and the international communist movement was at a loss as to which forward the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il wrote works such as " Abuses of Socialism is Intolerable" "Socialism Is A Science " and " Giving Priority to Ideological Work Is Essential for Accomplishing Socialism ". which showed the way forward for socialism . Also the work " On Preserving the Juche and National Character in the Revolution and Construction " was a brilliant manifesto against imperialist globalisation and cosmopolitanism . Leader comrade Kim Jong Il built up Juche-orientated socialism a true model of socialism , a real alternative to the madness of capitalism , a country which shows that a different world is possible.
Let us just reflect on one or two things . The imperialists and their paid propagandaists even now during this moment of grief and mourning find fault with the DPRK and its socialist system . However it is not the DPRK that has a crazy system , it is the capitalist world where billions is spent on advertising useless products , where billions are spent on propping up banks, where 70,000 children are homeless at Christmas but a million homes are empty and where drugs are taken openly on the streets is seen as normal
The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il strove so hard to build a better world for both the Korean people and by creating an example of authentic living socialism a better world for all people of the world . He believed in making a flower bloom on a rock if it was for the good of the people's living standards. He passed away while not at rest but whilst on a trip to give guidance to the economy and people's living standards. Many people in his position would have retired and seeked an easy life but not the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il he kept going , working every day for the people. He was a true people's leader. We remember the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il for this. Let us Juche idea followers unite around his successor General Kim Jong Un and turn sorrow into strength. !

The UK Korean Friendship Association issued the following statement today.

Although this is a painful time because of the passing away of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il we would like to sincerely congratulate the Korean people on the 94th anniversary of the birth of the Madame Kim Jong Suk, the Mother of Korea and the anti Japanese war heroine and indomitable revolutionary fighter.

She participated in the anti Japanese armed struggle becoming a distinguished woman partisan commander and crack-shot. She defended the leader of the revolution general Kim Il Sung physically as well as politically and ideology. She brought up the young leader comrade Kim Jong Il, the future Songun brilliant commander in the militant revolutionary environment of the anti Japanese armed struggle.
Comrade Kim Jong Suk was a model of self-sacrifice and devotion She took great pains to look after and care for her comrades in the anti-Japanese armed struggle and also after Korea's liberation she led a simple frugal life taking care of the people.

Comrade Kim Jong Suk strove to liberate Korean women from the double and triple oppression of imperialism and feudalism. She put into practice Juche-orientated theory of President Kim Il Sung on women's emancipation achieving great results in practice. She was the founder of the Korean Democratic Women's Union.
